Overview

Live Home 3D is a home design app for drawing floor plans and turning them into 3D views of rooms, houses, exteriors and terrain. Its workflow connects a measured 2D plan with a visual model: draw walls, trace an existing plan image, add dimensions and build multiple stories, then switch into 3D to move through the design and rearrange furniture and finishes.

That makes it relevant to paint and coating decisions as a visualization tool. You can explore how finishes sit in a room or across a larger home design, but the listed features describe design and rendering rather than a dedicated paint-selection or surface-preparation workflow. Live Home 3D is offered on a freemium basis, with a free plan and paid options.

Key features

Plan in 2D, review in 3D

Wall tools let you create a floor plan from scratch, while image tracing can help reproduce an existing plan. You can mark dimensions and lay out more than one story. Moving between the plan and 3D view helps connect room geometry with how the design reads from inside the space; walkthroughs let you move through the home, and furniture and finishes can be rearranged.

Models, materials and rendering

The Mac product page lists 2,400 3D models and 2,100 materials in its library. The store feature chart also lists importing objects from Trimble 3D Warehouse and browsing and importing Sketchfab models; Sketchfab requires a free account.

On Mac, object import formats include FBX, 3DS, COLLADA and OBJ. Listed exports include PDF floor plans, image formats, panoramas, walkthrough videos and several 3D model formats. Export formats vary by platform, and free exports carry watermarks.

Mac supports unlimited on-device offline ray-tracing renders using AMD Radeon ProRender or Cycles. AI cloud rendering is separate and uses purchased credits. The feature list also includes real-time scenes, 360° tours, VR/AR support and video export.

Platforms

Live Home 3D is available for Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. The product is listed as hybrid, with mobile viewing supported. Some features and formats are platform-specific: for example, the model and material counts, import and export details, and offline ray-tracing information above are listed for Mac.

Who it's for

BeLight describes Live Home 3D as a home design app for amateurs and professional designers. It may suit homeowners who want to map out a room or multi-story home and view furniture and finishes in context, as well as designers working on detailed plans and renderings. For a DIY painter, its value is in visualizing a design before making decisions about a real wall, floor or other surface; the listed features do not establish product-specific paint matching or coating recommendations.

Cons: Free exports contain watermarks, and the free version is limited to two stories.

Verdict

Live Home 3D brings planning and visualization together: users can trace or draw a plan, add dimensions and stories, then explore the design in 3D with furniture and finishes. Its free tier offers a way to begin, while paid subscriptions and lifetime options unlock a broader choice of plans. For homeowners and painters, it is best understood as a space-planning and visualization aid—not a substitute for checking how a coating will perform on the actual surface.
