You can turn a hummed melody or spoken voice memo into an AI song by recording a clean, dry clip, uploading it to a tool that accepts audio references, and asking it to build an arrangement around the musical idea. Choose The Workflow That Matches Your Recording

A hummed melody already contains a tune, while a voice memo may be spoken lyrics, a rhythm, or a rough song idea. Decide what the recording contributes before generating: melody, words, groove, or a combination. Prepare A Clean Voice Memo

1. Record one idea at a time. Use your phone’s voice memo app or another recorder already available to you. Hum the melody clearly, or speak/sing the lyric and rhythm you want the generated track to follow.
2. Keep the clip focused. Record a short phrase with a little silence before and after it. Avoid talking over the idea, singing over background music, or adding room effects. A clean source makes it easier to judge whether the AI preserved the melody or words.
3. Save an unprocessed copy. Keep the original memo unchanged. If you trim a working copy, leave the original intact so you can retry with a different selection.
4. Choose the input based on the result you want. Use a hummed clip when melody matters most. Use a spoken or sung memo when the cadence or lyric phrasing matters. If the tool offers a separate lyrics field, enter words there instead of assuming speech in the reference will be transcribed exactly.

Generate The First Song

1. Open one of the audio-input tools. For a reference-audio song workflow, open Mureka or Eleven Music. For an upload-driven workflow, open Suno or AIMakeSong. To experiment with transforming a recording, open Melobytes.
2. Upload the working memo or choose its audio-reference option. Follow the tool’s on-screen upload flow. File types and upload limits beyond the stated Suno Free Plan limit are not established here, so check the vendor’s current interface and terms if your file is rejected.
3. Describe the arrangement, not just the idea. Add a prompt with the style, energy, instrumentation, and vocal direction you want. For example: “Build a warm, mid-tempo pop song around this hummed melody; keep the melody recognizable, add soft drums and bass, and use a restrained lead vocal.” Treat this as a direction, not a guarantee that the generated tune will match note for note.
4. Enter lyrics separately when needed. If your memo contains words you want preserved, provide them in the lyrics field when available. Read the generated lyrics or listen closely; do not assume a spoken recording has been transcribed accurately.
5. Generate a version and listen against the original. Check whether the melody contour, rhythm, or lyric phrasing survived. If the song has drifted, simplify the prompt and try a cleaner or shorter source clip.

Refine The Result Into A Usable Track

1. Change one instruction at a time. If the melody is right but the arrangement is wrong, keep the melody direction and alter the instrumentation or energy. If the melody changed, focus the next attempt on following the uploaded phrase.
2. Use section tools for targeted fixes. Eleven Music lists section editing and inpainting; Suno lists section replacement, extensions, and remixing; Mureka lists remixing and extensions. Use the relevant control to adjust only the part that needs work, where the tool offers it.
3. Compare complete versions before committing. Listen from the beginning through the ending. A promising opening is not enough if the later sections lose the melody or introduce words you do not want.
4. Export only what your workflow needs. Suno lists stem export, but stem separation is not included in its Free Plan. Eleven Music lists stems and MP3/WAV exports. Mureka lists audio/MIDI export, with up to 12-stem splitting limited to Premier. AIMakeSong’s verified downloads are MP3. Check the vendor’s current plan and export terms before choosing based on a specific file format.

When A Transcription Step Helps

If the generated melody keeps drifting, transcribe the hummed line first and use the resulting notes as a guide for your next attempt in a music-making tool. Klangio Transcription Studio transcribes single instruments and multi-instrument recordings, with exports including MIDI and MusicXML. Its Free plan allows 20 seconds per transcription; the Pro plan lists a 15-minute maximum length per transcription. This is an optional notation step, not a song generator.

Check Consent And Usage Terms Before Sharing

Use your own voice or get clear permission from anyone whose voice is in the memo. Before publishing, monetizing, or using a generated track in a client project, check the selected platform’s current terms for voice references, uploads, generated outputs, and commercial use.
