Overview

Workhand is a mobile-first field operations app for construction contractors, bringing job records, estimating, invoicing, crew communication, time, costs, and payments together. It is aimed at solo operators and small crews, including general contractors, remodelers, HVAC and plumbing installers, landscapers, concrete crews, and pool builders. The company was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Its scope extends from estimates and change orders to selection management, customer and subcontractor portals, and field records such as daily logs and punch lists. That breadth may suit contractors who want one place to coordinate work and billing, but plan caps and offline limits are important considerations.

Key features

Estimates, invoices, and payments

Contractors can prepare estimates for e-signature and send invoices processed by Stripe. In the US, Stripe's card processing rate is 2.9% plus $0.30; Workhand says it adds no payment markup. The app supports selection management and change orders, giving contractors tools for recording customer choices and adjustments to a job.

Job and crew coordination

Workhand provides per-job chat, daily logs, punch lists, and photo uploads. Subcontractors can be tracked with certificates of insurance, and the service includes a subcontractor portal as well as a client portal. Previously loaded records may be viewable offline. Chat, photo uploads, and new estimates can queue locally, but creating a new job entirely offline is not supported.

Time, costs, and accounting

Pro adds time and mileage tracking. Team adds cost tracking, per-job profit, sales commission tracking, a sales pipeline and CRM, a customer-facing job portal, and yearly Ledger and 1099 exports. Team also syncs customers, invoices, and payments two-way with QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop is not supported.

Receipt scanning and data handling

Pro includes an AI receipt scanner. When a user taps AI Suggest, Workhand says it sends the project description and catalog or template item descriptions to Anthropic's Claude API. It says personal details, photos, payment data, and QuickBooks data are not sent. Workhand also says customer records, job information, estimates, invoices, photos, and uploaded content remain the customer's property and are not sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Languages and support

The app interface and customer estimates and invoices support English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Support is by email, with replies typically within one business day. Team customers receive priority response; phone support is not offered yet.

Pricing

Workhand has a free plan and two paid plans. The listed paid starting price is $34.99/mo, and a 14-day trial is available.

Plan	Price	Included features and limits
Free	0.00 USD per month (billed $0 /month)	1 active job, 1 teammate, unlimited customers, 3 estimates and 3 invoices per month, per-job chat, photos, punch list, daily logs, and unlimited subcontractors with COI tracking.
Pro	34.99 USD per month (billed $34.99 /month)	Unlimited active jobs, up to 5 teammates, recurring invoices, time and mileage tracking, AI receipt scanner, customer review funnel, public profile page, and pool chemical logs.
Team	89.99 USD per month (billed $89.99 /month)	Up to 15 teammates, cost tracking, per-job profit, sales commission tracking, yearly Ledger and 1099 exports, QuickBooks Online sync, sales pipeline and CRM, customer-facing job portal, and priority support.

The free plan's single active job and single user, together with its monthly estimate and invoice caps, may be restrictive for ongoing work. Pro raises the active-job limit to unlimited and supports up to five teammates; Team accommodates up to fifteen.

Platforms

Workhand is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its mobile-first design and partial offline access are relevant for crews working away from a desk, though full offline job creation is not available.

Who it's for

Workhand is designed for solo contractors and small construction crews that need to manage estimates, invoices, field updates, and customer or subcontractor communication. Its stated audience includes remodelers, general contractors, HVAC and plumbing installers, landscapers, concrete crews, and pool builders. The Free plan may work for a single user with limited active work; contractors needing multiple teammates, more estimates and invoices, time tracking, or accounting sync will need to consider a paid plan.

Pros and cons

Supports selection management, change orders, and client and subcontractor portals.
Team syncs customers, invoices, and payments with QuickBooks Online.
Customer-facing estimates and invoices support three languages.

Cons

The Free plan is limited to one active job, one teammate, and three estimates and invoices per month.
Creating new jobs fully offline is not supported.
QuickBooks Desktop is not supported.
Support is email-only; phone support is not offered yet.

Alternatives

Other contractor and home-improvement tools include Houzz, Buildshop, BuildBook, Build Method, Wunderbuild, ProBuilder OS, Buildxact, and RenoTrack360.

Verdict

Workhand brings a broad set of estimating, billing, field coordination, and contractor management features into a mobile-first service. Its plan structure separates basic job handling from team features such as cost and profit tracking and QuickBooks Online sync. The main trade-offs are the Free plan's low job and document limits, partial rather than complete offline support, and the lack of QuickBooks Desktop integration. Contractors should match those limits and the teammate caps to the way their crews work before choosing a plan.
