Its listing reported more than 50 million downloads, a 4.4-star rating and a July 7, 2026 update when checked; those figures are not permanent.

Limitations

2. Homestyler — best for attractive 3D concepts
Homestyler creates decorated 3D rooms, accepts uploaded floor plans, supports surface customization, furniture placement, renders, AR previews and AI-oriented tools. It works on Android phones and tablets, while some advanced Pro and Master capabilities are primarily part of the web experience.
Use it for

magicplan is designed for site work rather than decoration alone. Its Android app supports floor plans, photos, notes, objects, forms, checklists, 360-degree panoramas, reports, price lists and estimates. It can connect to supported Bluetooth laser measures from manufacturers including Bosch, Leica, DeWalt, Hilti, Stabila and Würth; confirm compatibility before buying hardware.
Use it for
- Existing-condition surveys and remodels.
- Insurance, restoration and contractor documentation.
- Attaching photographs, notes and measurements to a project.
Limitations

4. HomeByMe — best for branded, product-led design
HomeByMe supports walls, doors, windows, furniture placement, 3D views, project sharing, dimensions and shopping information. Its Google Play description says the Android app complements the desktop version and supports offline access. The listing describes a catalog of more than 20,000 products, though regional availability can differ.
Use it for
- Residential layouts built around purchasable furniture.
- Showing clients product arrangements and alternatives.
- Designers who move between desktop and Android.
Limitations

5. Home Planner AI: Room Interior — best for rapid AI concepts
The Home Planner AI Google Play listing describes room scanning, AI-generated floor plans, 3D layouts, kitchen and bathroom planning, a large catalog, renovation PDFs, renders and online/offline use. It reported more than 10 million downloads and a July 9, 2026 update when checked.

Use it for
- Generating several early style directions quickly.
- Homeowners, decorators and concept-stage client discussions.
- Testing renovation ideas before detailed modeling.
Limitations
“Millimeter-perfect” and similar accuracy claims are developer marketing, not independent verification. AI can move openings, alter proportions or invent impossible furniture. Treat scans and generated layouts as starting points, and check subscription terms because weekly, monthly and annual options may vary by region.
6. Houzz — best for inspiration, sourcing and client research
Houzz is a research companion: use it to collect reference images, investigate products and suppliers, share style direction and find professionals. Its Android app is available at Google Play.
Use it for
- Discovery calls and style vocabulary.
- Product and supplier research.
- Reference galleries to discuss with clients.
Limitations
Images rarely provide reliable dimensions or construction details, marketplace availability is regional, and inspirational photography can create unrealistic expectations. Houzz does not replace a floor-plan, CAD or rendering tool.
7. SketchUp — best for continuity with a professional 3D workflow
SketchUp belongs on an Android shortlist for designers who already use its 3D ecosystem and need to review models or present spatial relationships away from a workstation.

8. AutoCAD — best for DWG review and markups
AutoCAD mobile is useful when a designer receives DWG files, needs field reference or must annotate an existing drawing. It is most valuable to teams already using Autodesk products.
Use it for
- Reviewing drawings on site.
- Marking up dimensions and changes.
- Checking a design against measured conditions.
Limitations
A phone is not a practical replacement for a desktop CAD workstation for complex drafting. Subscription requirements, offline behavior, export rights and available commands depend on the current plan; check AutoCAD product information before purchase.
9. Floor Plan Creator — best for focused drafting
Floor Plan Creator is appropriate when the job is mainly walls, rooms, doors, windows and measurements rather than polished rendering.
Use it for
- Simple residential plans and alternatives.
- Fast edits on a phone or tablet.
- Users who do not need a large 3D catalog.
Limitations
Presentation, materials, catalog depth and export options are more limited than in full room-planning suites. Verify the current developer, features and pricing in Google Play before relying on it for paid deliverables.
10. Canva — best for mood boards and presentations
Canva is the finishing layer after a plan or render exists. Its Android app supports mood boards, finish boards, furniture collages, branded proposals, client presentations and social content; download it from Google Play.
Use it for
- Combining renders, samples, colors, notes and product images.
- Creating consistent client-facing presentation sheets.
- Turning a concept into a proposal or social post.
Limitations

Accuracy and professional-use limits
Most consumer room planners create conceptual layouts, not permit-ready construction documents. Camera scans can fail around reflective surfaces, clutter, open-plan transitions, unusual geometry and unsupported sensors. Measure critical dimensions with a physical or connected laser device, correct the generated plan and verify the result in professional CAD or BIM software before construction.
Furniture models can use simplified or outdated dimensions, and branded catalog presence does not guarantee current stock, exact color or clearance requirements. AI restyling can change doors, windows, lighting and proportions. Use it for ideation, never as proof that a design is code-compliant or buildable. “Free” may mean only a free download or limited project; check exports, renders, offline editing, synchronization and auto-renewing subscriptions before choosing an app for client work.
Phone or tablet?
An Android tablet generally gives more usable space for plan editing, object placement and client review, with less zooming and panning than a phone. Optimization still varies by device, and advanced web or desktop companions may remain necessary for detailed modeling, CAD and high-resolution output.

What is the best free Android interior-design app?
Planner 5D is the most capable general starting point, but its free access is limited. Houzz and Canva are useful free companions for research and presentation; none provides unlimited professional production without checking plan restrictions.
Can an Android phone measure a room accurately?
