The best Hamptons design stops depend on what you are shopping for. East Hampton has a large, service-led gallery; Sag Harbor concentrates contemporary furniture and smaller home shops; Southampton and Bridgehampton cover outdoor living, antiques and pre-owned furnishings. Bring measurements, ceiling heights, door widths and photographs of the room. A gallery can show a finish or configuration, but a design consultation is only useful when the dimensions and delivery constraints are known. Ask which items are displayed locally, which are made to order and whether a quoted lead time applies to the Hamptons address or to a different delivery region.

Because the store also carries fashion, confirm how much floor space is devoted to home goods on the day you visit. If you are shopping for a large item, ask about dimensions, delivery and whether the piece is new, floor sample or pre-owned before treating the displayed price as a final quote.

For antiques, vintage and pre-owned furniture
Collette Home Outlet: pre-owned pieces with recognizable design history
The Collette Home Outlet, described as being in the Bridgehampton area, is the most specific lead for pre-owned luxury furniture. The official material mentions Togo sofas and mid-century wood tables, giving you a sense of the caliber and period range rather than promising that either item is currently available.
Pre-owned inventory changes quickly. Call for the current address and hours, then ask for measurements, upholstery condition, frame or veneer damage, odors, repairs and the return policy. Do not rely on a posted price without confirmation. The business warns that some prices on its site may not have been updated recently, so call before driving over and request the current figure. Also ask which location holds the item: the Bridgehampton shop and Southampton outlet should not be assumed to share inventory.

An older KDHamptons shopping diary recommends MONC XIII for home furnishings, antiques, pillows and tabletop goods, and Sage Street Antiques for vintage accessories, furniture and tableware. Those descriptions make both useful targets for an antiques-focused walk through Sag Harbor, but the article is not current enough to establish that either store still operates, remains at the same address or carries the same categories.
Verify before building your route. If open, inspect wood joints, veneer edges, hardware, upholstery labels and provenance notes. Ask whether an item is an original, a reproduction or a later interpretation, and get the dimensions in writing when arranging delivery.
For small décor, gifts and tabletop pieces
Sylvester & Co.: accessories and hostess gifts
The same older KDHamptons diary points to Sylvester & Co. in Sag Harbor for home accessories and hostess gifts. This is the kind of stop that works when your suitcase has room for smaller pieces: a serving object, a decorative accent or a present for a host. Treat the recommendation as historical until you confirm the store’s current status, address and hours.

The official Southampton page lists 1 Pond Lane and describes striped umbrellas, loungers, picnic essentials and entertaining goods. It is the clearest specialist stop for an outdoor-living brief: shade, poolside seating and the pieces used for a casual lunch outside.

The page describes the shop as a permanent Hamptons outpost for the season ahead, but seasonal wording is not a guarantee for your dates. Confirm that it is open before traveling. Start with RH if you need a room plan, then add JJUIN only after confirming its location and hours. This pairing keeps a major-furniture appointment separate from browsing for objects. Leave space in the car for packaging and ask each store about delivery rather than assuming a same-day take-home purchase.
Sag Harbor: the densest cluster of possible design stops
JANGEORGe is the confirmed anchor at 17 Madison Street. The older leads—Sylvester & Co., Bloom, MONC XIII and Sage Street Antiques—are all described in the same village, which makes Sag Harbor the logical place to concentrate a day of accessories, antiques and tabletop browsing. Because those four recommendations are not current confirmations, call in the morning and remove any closed or relocated shop from the route.
A historical KDHamptons interview quoted designer Tom Samet describing Sag Harbor as offering “the variety of home shops all within walking distance.” That is an older observation, not a guarantee about today’s tenancy, so use it as context rather than navigation.
