These 14 Valentine’s Day crafts range from quick paper cards and treat bags to painted decorations, bookmarks, cookies, and a fabric garland. Choose by the finished result you want and the supplies you already have; a few projects involve heat, sewing, food, or drying time.
Choose a craft by what you want to make

Match the project to your supplies and process
Paper and cardstock, scissors or cutting tools, adhesive, and ribbon recur across the ideas. Paint, crayons, and markers suit projects that add color; several designs can be made with paper already on hand. Colored cardstock is an option, not a required purchase.
- For a paint project: Try the watercolor card, cookie-cutter stencil cards, or cardboard hearts. Allow paint to dry before handling pieces that need further assembly.
- For a heat-based project: Wax hearts require a gently applied low-heat iron; fabric garland uses iron-on adhesive. Use care around hot equipment.
- For stitching: Doily treat holders and the felt bookmark use embroidery floss, though the felt bookmark can instead be assembled with glue.
- For food: Stamped cookies involve food coloring and cookies; keep craft stamps clean and use them only as appropriate for food contact.
- For minimal extra supplies: Paper cards, treat bags, and lunch-bag decorations use familiar materials such as cardstock, ribbon, tape, and scissors.
Midwest Living’s list does not give consistent completion times for all 14 projects, so there is no dependable timed ranking. Consider process and drying needs instead: Crayola’s separate five-in-one activity specifies one to two hours of drying for thumbprint art and a one-to-two-hour followed by a three-to-four-hour drying sequence for its candy-gram holder. Make a paper heart chain instead
If you want a simple decoration rather than one of the 14 projects, Crayola’s heart-garland activity uses construction paper, a paper trimmer, and a stapler with staples. Its instructions show vertical, side-by-side, and interlocking heart chains, and label the activity for ages 6 and up, tweens, and adults. Base the choice on the actual steps and the maker’s ability to handle cutting tools, paint, heat, stitching, or food preparation. For younger children, an adult can handle the iron or paper trimmer while children draw, color, arrange, or decorate the pieces.
