The 25-Patch Oven Mitts pattern from AllPeopleQuilt makes two quilted mitts, each finished at 8 × 13 inches. Each patchwork front is built from 25 small squares; the backs use larger-print fabric. The project page, updated November 20, 2025, includes downloadable pattern pieces, a materials list and step-by-step assembly instructions.
What the pattern makes
Make two mitts with pieced patchwork fronts and larger fabric-print backs. Each finished mitt measures 8 × 13 inches. The project uses four patchwork blocks in total—two blocks joined for each mitt’s front shape—and includes lining, batting, binding and hanging loops.
Materials for two mitts
The pattern’s fabric quantities assume 44/45-inch-wide, 100% cotton fabric and include 1/4-inch seam allowances.

The pattern specifies insulated batting as one layer but does not provide comparative heat-protection testing or performance limits for the finished mitts or a particular brand. Check the selected batting’s product label for its material details and intended use.

Prepare the pattern and cut the patchwork
Download Pattern A and Pattern B from the project page. Match the dashed lines on each pattern piece and tape them together before cutting. The patchwork fronts require 100 assorted squares measuring 2 1/4 inches each.
- Sew 25 squares into a five-row block. Press the seams in alternating directions from row to row to help the seams nest when the rows are joined.
- Make four blocks in total. Join them in pairs, then join the pairs to create a patchwork square.
- Use the completed patchwork square to cut one Pattern A piece and one reversed Pattern A piece, following the downloaded pattern’s cutting layout.
Layer and assemble the mitts
For each mitt, layer the lining, cotton batting, insulated batting and the patchwork or backing fabric as shown in the pattern instructions. Use basting spray to hold the layers, then quilt them. Bind the lower edge of each shaped piece, make the hanging loops from the stripe fabric, and sew the front and back together around the curved perimeter.
