How to download the FormsBank PDFs
- Open the witch, ghost, mixed Halloween, or raven category page linked above.
- Select the exact template title.
- Click View Form.
- Check the preview, page count, and file size. This matters because the collection includes one-page files and much larger multi-page projects.
- Choose Download pdf, then save the file to your device.
- Open the saved PDF in a browser or PDF reader and print from the file, not from the gallery page.
- Keep a local copy until your project is finished in case the source page changes.
Printing settings that prevent common mistakes
Choose paper for the project
- Ordinary printer paper: Good for coloring pages, tracing, temporary decorations, test prints, and lightweight garlands.
- Cardstock: Better for cup covers, masks, folded models, treat containers, hanging decorations, and pieces that will be handled repeatedly.
- Poster board: Useful when a large ghost, witch, skeleton, or sign needs more rigidity. You can print the pattern on paper and mount or trace it onto the board.
Many printable craft pages, including FirstPalette’s pumpkin printables, are designed for A4 or US Letter paper or cardstock. If a source specifies a size, follow that instruction. If it does not, print a test sheet first.

- Choose Actual Size or 100% scale when the dimensions matter, especially for masks, cup covers, or pieces that must fit together.
- Choose Fit to Page when you only need a decorative silhouette and the exact size is unimportant.
- Do not assume a browser print dialog will preserve the PDF’s size. A setting such as Fit or Scale to printable area may shrink the artwork.
- For a large decoration, print a test page, then enlarge the pattern or assemble multiple pages only after confirming the proportions.
How to use the templates for painting
For a painting project, black-and-white silhouettes and blank shapes are usually more useful than ready-colored designs. Try this workflow:

- Print the pattern. Use ordinary paper for tracing or cardstock if you need a reusable guide.
- Decide whether you are tracing or stenciling. For a traced design, place transfer paper or a graphite rubbing behind the printed outline. For a stencil, cut the shape from cardstock or transfer the design to a more durable stencil material.
- Secure the template. Use low-tack tape so the paper does not shift or leave residue on the painting surface.
- Test the paint. Try the color and brush load on scrap paper or the same surface before painting the final piece.
- Use a light amount of paint. A nearly dry brush or sponge helps reduce paint bleeding under a stencil.
- Lift the template carefully. Remove the tape while the paint is still workable, then let the design dry before adding details.
Witch silhouettes, crow silhouettes, Halloween eyes, blank shapes, the skeleton, and the raven are particularly adaptable for painted signs, canvas panels, windows, cardboard backdrops, and classroom boards. Ready-colored templates are better when speed matters and you want to print, cut, and display without painting.

Always supervise children using scissors, hole punches, glue, elastic, craft knives, or pumpkin-carving tools.

More printable shapes and craft patterns: FirstPalette
FirstPalette’s Halloween printables include bats, spiders, pumpkins, jack-o’-lanterns, witches, ghosts, masks, hats, and related shapes. Individual pages often provide black-and-white and colored versions, making the site useful for both coloring and ready-to-use decorations. Start with its bat, ghost, jack-o’-lantern, or Halloween cat pages.
FirstPalette’s terms say its printables are for personal and non-commercial use, with educational use permitted under its stated conditions. Do not republish its PDFs or assume you can sell products made from them without checking the terms or obtaining permission. The site also asks websites featuring its resources to link to the webpage containing the PDF rather than republishing or directly linking to the file.
Project instructions and paper crafts: Aunt Annie’s Crafts
Aunt Annie’s Halloween collection is useful when you want more than an outline. It includes projects such as cone hats, treat boxes, dangler cards, ghost garlands, suncatchers, mobiles, treat bags, pop-up cards, cutouts, and spider bracelets, with project descriptions and difficulty information.
Its Halloween digital papers add printable backgrounds and bands featuring pumpkins, bats, ghosts, candy corn, stripes, and black cats. Print them on full-page paper and use them as backgrounds, wrappers, or components in another craft.
Educational bat masks: Bat Conservation International
Bat Conservation International’s bat masks provide printable designs based on several bat species, including the California leaf-nosed bat, Dobson’s horseshoe bat, grey-headed flying-fox, lesser long-nosed bat, and sword-nosed bat. The instructions cover printing on cardstock, coloring, cutting, punching holes, and adding elastic. This is the best alternative in the list for a costume-oriented project with an educational angle.
Free bat templates: The Craft Train
The Craft Train’s printable bat templates can be used for fold-and-cut decorations, masks, cupcake toppers, and painting masks. Check the individual page before downloading, because the site’s status can change. In particular, its Halloween paper pumpkin basket page currently says that the resource is no longer free and is sold through its printables store or Teachers Pay Teachers, so it is not included as a free recommendation here.
Password-protected free crafts: Glued to My Crafts
Glued to My Crafts’ Halloween printables landing page offers free downloads without sign-up or payment according to the page, but the workflow is not a direct one-click PDF. Click the Box.com download link under the desired printable and enter the current password shown on the landing page. As checked on August 10, 2026, that password was GLUEDTOMYCRAFTS2026. If it stops working, return to the landing page for the latest password rather than assuming the file has disappeared.
Pumpkin-carving stencils: the EPA
If you want to carve a real pumpkin rather than make a paper decoration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s pumpkin-carving templates include designs such as Beautiful Experiment, EPA in Bloom, and One Earth. These are a specialized bonus for pumpkin stencils, not substitutes for the paper-craft PDFs above.

The printed mask or cup cover is the wrong size
Open the PDF in a reader and print at 100% or Actual Size. Turn off automatic shrinking. If the design is only decorative, Fit to Page is acceptable, but test the result before cutting cardstock or assembling several pieces.
The file uses too much ink
Choose a black-and-white template, print a draft on ordinary paper, or print only the outline and add color with paint, crayons, markers, or colored paper. Ready-colored designs are convenient but generally use more ink.
A supposedly free design is asking for payment
Check whether the page contains mixed free and premium results. Adobe Express currently separates Premium & Free, Free, and Premium results. Greetings Island and other online libraries can also show premium designs alongside free ones. A paid export or premium asset does not mean the entire site is paid; select a specifically marked free item instead.
The template is no longer free
Availability changes. The Craft Train’s pumpkin basket is a current example of a resource that now says it is no longer free. Use another item from the bat-template page or choose a core FormsBank, FirstPalette, or other verified alternative.
