American Patchwork & Quilting Editors’ “37 Hot Summer Quilts” is a collection of 37 seasonal sewing projects—not one pattern or a bundle of 37 finished quilts. It ranges from throws and wall hangings to placemats, a crib quilt, and a beach-towel accessory, with ideas for tropical prints, citrus colors, and beach themes. The page was updated November 12, 2025.
What’s in the 37-project collection?
The projects suit different uses around the home and different kinds of sewing. Rather than treating all 37 as interchangeable quilts, use the roundup to find a format, construction style, or fabric direction that fits your project.
- Throws and quilts: Ideas include a rainbow picnic quilt, a checkerboard-style Nine-Patch quilt, a T-shirt throw, and a throw made from recycled jeans.
- Small home projects: The collection also includes table toppers, placemats, wall hangings, and other seasonal projects.
- Other formats: A crib quilt and a beach-towel accessory broaden the list beyond bed and lap quilts.
The roundup’s short descriptions do not consistently give finished dimensions, yardage, sewing time, or skill level. Use each linked pattern for its own requirements rather than assuming the collection has one shared materials list or difficulty rating.

How to choose a project
- Start with where it will be used. Choose a throw for picnics or lounging, a wall hanging for seasonal display, or placemats and a table topper for a summer table.
- Match the construction to your interests. The roundup includes straightforward piecing, Nine-Patch blocks, bargello, fusible appliqué, and projects that reuse T-shirts or denim.
- Pick fabric with the design in mind. Descriptions mention batiks, reproduction 1930s prints, stripes, plaids, solids, and other printed fabrics. Garden Party is the specific option tied to precut 10-inch squares and large floral prints.
- Check the individual pattern before gathering supplies. The collection does not supply one common yardage list or complete specifications for every project.
Pattern links and access
On the roundup page, most entries are labeled as free patterns, while Pink Lemonade has a purchase link. Those labels describe how the page presents the links; access and terms may change. Check the linked pattern for current availability and any requirements before starting.
