3form Flek Pure is a translucent interlayer in the Varia architectural-material family. In a September 2021 launch announcement, 3form said the clear product was made from 100% recycled material, primarily using Varia edge trimmings, returned samples and other reclaimed material. The company describes a closed-loop process in which those inputs are pelletized and optically sorted before being made into new Flek material. That is a manufacturer-reported recycled-content claim, not an independently verified ranking of lifecycle performance.

What is 3form Flek Pure?
Flek Pure is a translucent architectural panel material associated with 3form’s Varia resin platform. On the current Varia product page accessed October 13, 2026, 3form places Flek Pure in its Closed Loop collection and displays 10 colors. The product is presented as an interlayer, so designers can specify it where a project needs a colored or translucent visual layer rather than an opaque sheet.
The central sustainability proposition is material recovery inside the Varia manufacturing stream. 3form’s September 2021 announcement says clear Flek Pure uses 100% recycled material, sourced primarily from production edge trimmings, returned material samples and reclaimed material. The company says those inputs are converted into a consistent feedstock and then used to make new Flek.

“100% recycled” needs to be read with its product and date attached: it is 3form’s 2021 launch claim for the clear Flek Pure product. It is not evidence that every Flek color, every Varia product or every current production run has the same recycled content.
Is Flek Pure made from 100% recycled material?
For clear Flek Pure, 3form said yes in its September 2021 launch release. The same release made a separate statement about color-added Flek applications: those variants contained up to 92% recycled material. The distinction matters because adding color can change the proportion of reclaimed feedstock.

|---|---|---|
| Clear Flek Pure | 100% | 3form’s launch claim, published September 2021; manufacturer-reported. |
| Color-added Flek applications | Up to 92% | Separate 2021 statement for colored variants; not a claim that all colors reach 100%. |
| General Flek in a historical ADEX entry | Approximately 75% | Undated historical description of an earlier/general Flek product; do not substitute it for the Flek Pure claim. |
Neither the launch release nor the current product listing establishes an independently audited recycled-content certificate, a product-specific carbon reduction, or a quantified landfill-diversion result. If a project requires verified content documentation, ask 3form for the current declaration or certification covering the exact Flek Pure color and construction being specified.

How does 3form make Flek Pure?
3form describes the manufacturing route as a closed-loop recovery process. The following sequence reflects the company’s September 2021 account.
- Collect suitable Varia waste. The stated inputs include Varia edge trimmings created during fabrication, returned material samples and other reclaimed material. These are in-house or recovered sources rather than newly purchased virgin resin in the clear Flek Pure claim.
- Pelletize the recovered material. The reclaimed pieces are processed into pellets, creating a feedstock that can be handled consistently in the next stage.
- Optically sort for clarity and cleanliness. 3form says an optical sorter separates material to improve visual clarity and remove contamination. This step is important for a translucent product, where inclusions or mixed colors would be conspicuous.
- Form new Flek material. The sorted pellets are used to produce Flek, which becomes part of Varia-based architectural assemblies. The release describes the result as clear Flek Pure when the recycled stream is used for that product.
In a quote published with the announcement, Charles Moore, 3form’s senior product development engineer, said: “We didn’t stop when the Flek Collection first launched because we knew we wouldn’t be satisfied until we reached 100 percent recycled material.” That statement explains the development objective, but it is not an independent process audit.
The 2021 announcement also said designers could send back Varia samples using prepaid shipping labels so the material could be pelletized for Flek. That was a launch-era description. Confirm directly with 3form whether a return-sample or take-back service is still available before promising it in a project specification.

What is Flek Pure used for?
3form’s launch materials position Flek Pure for shared commercial interiors and selected architectural features. Named applications include:
- Privacy partitions and room dividers
- Decorative accent pieces
- Exterior wall applications
- Hotels and restaurants
- Corporate offices
- Healthcare facilities
Those are manufacturer-stated applications, not blanket approval for every installation condition. A project team still needs the current Flek Pure technical data for thickness, fabrication, attachment, cleaning, durability, fire performance and exterior exposure. Verify the assembly—not just the resin family—against local code and the project’s environmental conditions.
A historical ADEX entry for general Flek also mentions education, healthcare, offices, workstation separation and open-plan organization. Because that listing concerns an earlier/general Flek description, use it as background for possible design contexts rather than as current Flek Pure specification evidence.

What does the current Varia listing confirm?
The current Varia page, accessed October 13, 2026, provides several practical clues for designers:
- Flek Pure appears in the Varia Closed Loop collection.
- The page displays 10 Flek Pure colors.
- A Flek Pure swatch download is available.
- The Varia product area links to general technical resources.
- Local consultants are offered as the route for samples, quotes and consultation.
The page observation does not establish current panel dimensions, thicknesses, pricing, lead time or project-specific performance. Those details can vary by color, construction, finish, quantity and region, so obtain them in writing for the intended order.

What is confirmed—and what still needs verification?
| Project question | What is established | What to request before approval |
|---|---|---|
| Recycled content | 3form’s 2021 claim: clear Flek Pure is 100% recycled; color-added Flek was described as up to 92%. | Current product-specific declaration for the chosen color and construction. |

| Sample return program | A prepaid-label return process was described in the 2021 launch release. | Confirmation that the program remains active in your region. |
How should Flek Pure be compared with another panel material?
The recycled-content headline is useful, but it should be only one line in a specification comparison. Evaluate the exact product variants side by side using the following criteria:
- Performance and intended use: Compare current technical data for the complete panel or assembly, not a generic resin-family description.
- Appearance: Examine translucency, privacy, color consistency and light transmission with physical samples.
- Documentation: Check what recycled-content, health, environmental, fire and building-code documents cover the chosen color and thickness.
- Fabrication and installation: Confirm cutting, drilling, edge treatment, support spacing, fastening and cleaning requirements with the manufacturer.
- Durability: Match the material to traffic, impact, moisture, ultraviolet exposure and maintenance expectations.
- Supply: Compare available sizes, minimum quantities, lead times, regional support and total installed cost.
The available information does not support ranking Flek Pure above competing materials on carbon, lifecycle or industry-wide sustainability performance. It supports a narrower conclusion: 3form presents Flek Pure as a Varia interlayer made from a reclaimed-material stream, with a clear 100% recycled-content claim for the product described in its 2021 launch release.
What did the 2021 launch say about the design direction?
The launch announcement framed Flek Pure as the next step after the original Flek collection, with the goal of reaching a fully recycled clear material. It also introduced colored options. Christian Darby, 3form’s vice president of design, said of the Flek Charge colorway: “When we think about recycling, we typically think about green, but I wanted to take it somewhere unexpected by introducing a punchy and bright yellow-green color to Flek.” That quote is specific to the 2021 launch and to a named colorway; it should not be treated as a current color-availability statement.
3form’s technical-download index shows sustainability documents uploaded in 2025 and 2026, but the listing available for review does not expose Flek Pure-specific figures from those documents. For a current sustainability submission, ask for the latest document itself and verify its scope, issue date, product variant and geographic applicability.
Practical specification checklist
Before a Flek Pure panel is approved, the architect, fabricator and contractor should have answers to these questions:
- Is the selected product clear Flek Pure or a color-added Flek variant?
- What recycled-content percentage is documented for that exact variant?
- What panel thicknesses, dimensions and tolerances are currently available?
- Which fabrication methods and edge details are permitted?
- What cleaning products and maintenance frequency are acceptable?
- Does the proposed location require fire, smoke, impact, moisture, ultraviolet or healthcare-specific documentation?
- Which current certificates, test reports or declarations apply to the complete assembly?
- What are the quoted price, minimum order, lead time and delivery terms?
- Can the team obtain a physical sample and, if applicable, return unused Varia samples through an active program?
Answering those questions turns the sustainability claim into a defensible specification. It also prevents a historical product description or a platform-level certification from being carried into a current project without confirmation.
