The 50 Digital Wood Joints poster is a visual reference to a collection of 50 wood-joint designs intended for digital fabrication. Make: reported that Meredith Scheff-King laid out the poster and linked a large PNG and a PDF; Open Up! also lists a poster download. The poster is a reference, not the collection’s production-ready CAD files.
What the poster covers
The collection groups its 50 joints into three categories:
- Frame joints
- Board joints
- Carcass joints
These are digitally fabricable designs, not an all-purpose chart of every traditional woodworking joint. ArchDaily describes the project in the context of CNC milling and laser cutting: computer-controlled processing changes how parts can be designed to fit together. The poster gives a visual overview; the underlying project has separate CAD and download materials.

Where to find the poster download
Make:’s December 4, 2014 article, “50 Digital Wood Joints Poster,” links both a large PNG and a PDF and says the poster can be printed at any size. Open Up!’s project listing also links to a poster download. Search those publications by the title or the phrase “Download poster” to locate their respective download pages. Make:’s article and Open Up!’s listing do not include the destination URLs, so this article does not guess or reconstruct them.

Choosing a format for your workshop
| Option | Useful for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| PDF download | Printing or keeping a reference on a device | Make: links a PDF; check the file’s page dimensions and print settings before sending it to a printer. |
| Large PNG download | Viewing digitally or preparing a print | Make: links a large PNG and says the poster can be printed at any size. For a legible wall poster, check the image resolution and ask the printer about the intended dimensions. |
| Physical poster | A ready-made wall display | SolidSmack reported a 28 × 40 inch purchasable version in 2014. That is historical information, not confirmation of a current seller, price, or stock. |
If you want to study the joints at the bench, a print large enough to read comfortably may be more useful than a small sheet. If you need to fabricate a joint, look for the project’s separate CAD/download files rather than assuming the poster contains machine-ready geometry.
Who made the poster and the joint collection?
Meredith Scheff-King is credited with the poster layout. The underlying collection is associated with Jochen Gros and Friedrich Sulzer and was published by C-Lab in 2004, according to Open Up!’s listing. ArchDaily describes its development at C…Lab of Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach and identifies CNC milling and laser cutting as fabrication methods.
