These were eight Envato Elements files featured in the August 2024 free-files roundup—not eight assets guaranteed to remain free today. Envato’s monthly selection rotates, and the original SmashingApps page has since been republished with newer date and wording. Use the list below as a historical archive, then verify availability, compatibility, and licensing on Envato’s official pages before downloading or using any file.
What was included in the August 2024 Envato free-file roundup?
The original article, published on August 23, 2024, was titled “7+ Premium Envato Elements Free Files to Download (August 2024).” Despite the “7+” wording, it identified eight files:

The descriptions and specifications above come from the historical SmashingApps roundup. They should not be treated as proof that all eight files are still available or that each file has the same metadata today.
Important: the August 2024 offer is historical
The accessible version of the original page now displays a July 29, 2026 date and uses more general “this month” wording. That means the page is dynamic or has been repurposed. A link that once led to an August 2024 freebie may now redirect to a different Envato item, an expired listing, or the current monthly selection.

For the current promotion, visit Envato’s official free-files page directly. Envato says its free account system provides a hand-selected group of files each month. The page also states that free trials ended in March 2023, so a monthly free file is not the same thing as a general Envato Elements subscription trial.
The eight files, explained
1. Skatecourse – Skateboard Lesson Elementor Kit
Skatecourse is a ready-made WordPress website kit aimed at skateboard lessons, skate schools, sports clubs, and similar activity-based businesses. It is the most specialized item in the list, but it could save time for a site that already matches its visual direction.
The historical article listed Elementor Free, ElementsKit Lite, and MetForm as required tools and recommended the Hello Elementor theme. It also stated that Elementor Pro was not required. Treat that as the source article’s compatibility claim rather than a guarantee for every current WordPress installation: WordPress, PHP, Elementor, theme, and add-on updates can affect imports and styling.
Before importing the kit, make a backup and test it on a staging site. Imported global colors, typography, forms, templates, and responsive settings may conflict with an existing design system. A skateboarding layout will also require substantial customization if you are building a site for a different industry.
2. Neon Green Blurry PSD Text Effect
This Photoshop effect is designed to add a bright, blurry neon-green treatment to text. It may be useful for posters, event graphics, thumbnails, social posts, album-style artwork, and promotional campaigns where an intense visual effect is appropriate.
The historical article described the file as being made for a recent Photoshop CC version, but it did not establish a precise reproducible version number. Before relying on it, check whether your Photoshop release supports the file’s Smart Objects, layer styles, linked assets, color mode, and included fonts. Some PSD effects are highly editable; others depend on rasterized layers or missing supporting files.
It is also worth considering brand fit. A strong neon effect can accelerate experimentation, but it may look generic or overpower restrained identity systems. Use it as a visual treatment rather than assuming it is suitable for every client or medium.

3. Business Card Mockups v1
Business Card Mockups v1 is intended for presenting branding work in a more realistic context. Mockups are useful when a client needs to see how a logo, color palette, or typography system might appear on printed stationery instead of on a flat artboard.
The historical listing does not provide dependable dimensions or a precise software version, so inspect the actual item page and ZIP contents before committing to it. Check for editable Smart Objects, included backgrounds, lighting controls, bleed considerations, and whether the mockup is intended for print presentation or screen-only previews.
Remember that a mockup is a presentation tool, not evidence that the displayed business card has been physically printed or tested. For production artwork, use the printer’s own specifications rather than the mockup’s canvas.
4. Green mangrove forests islands
This is the most thoroughly specified video asset in the historical list. It contains a short aerial or environmental clip of mangrove-covered islands:

It could work as a documentary cutaway, travel sequence, environmental explainer, website background, presentation opener, or establishing shot. The 4K dimensions allow reframing in an HD edit, although the unusually large file size may require additional storage and transcoding for a smoother editing workflow.
Because the clip has no alpha channel, it is not a transparent isolated element. It is also not looped, so using it as a long background will require cuts, speed changes, additional footage, or a carefully designed transition.
5. The Fresh Limes are Rotating Slowly on Bright Green Background
This short food-oriented clip shows limes rotating against a vivid green background. It is a natural fit for beverage advertising, recipe videos, food packaging presentations, health-themed social content, restaurant promotions, and freshness-focused campaigns.

The green background may suggest a chroma-key workflow, but the historical article does not provide enough information to call it key-ready. Inspect the footage for shadows, uneven lighting, green spill, compression artifacts, and sharpness around the fruit. A bright background can be useful for compositing while still requiring substantial cleanup.
The source listing does not provide complete technical metadata such as resolution, frame rate, codec, duration, or file size. Confirm those details on the current item page before planning a professional edit.
6. Hey Bold
Hey Bold is a decorative display font supplied in OTF and TTF formats. The historical listing says the package includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
It is best suited to logos, headlines, posters, labels, thumbnails, informal branding, and other short display applications. Decorative fonts are usually a poor choice for long paragraphs because their distinctive shapes can reduce reading speed and clarity.
Do not infer the full license from the file formats or from the word “free.” Check the current item’s license for client work, logos, apps, broadcast use, merchandise, and embedding. Also verify language coverage and glyph support if the project uses accented characters or non-Latin scripts.

7. Northern Lights Backgrounds
Northern Lights Backgrounds contains 16 JPG images, each listed at 5000×3000 pixels and 300 DPI. The set could provide atmospheric visuals for posters, wallpapers, presentation covers, apps, packaging, social graphics, or digital artwork.
The large pixel dimensions offer useful room for cropping, but JPG files are flattened images rather than layered source files. You should not expect to independently move the aurora, sky, landscape, or lighting elements unless the package includes additional editable formats.

A 300 DPI label alone does not guarantee a particular print size or print quality. Effective output depends on the actual pixel dimensions, scaling, image content, color management, paper, and printer. Treat the backgrounds as flexible raster resources, not as a complete print-production specification.
8. Neon Minimalist Company Profile Presentation
This presentation template includes PowerPoint/PPTX files, Keynote files, and a help file. The historical listing describes a 20-slide, 16:9 presentation with a 1920×1080 canvas and RGB, 72 DPI settings.
It could speed up the creation of a company profile, marketing deck, pitch, portfolio, or internal presentation. The included help file may be particularly useful when adapting layouts, but the result still needs editorial and visual customization.
Three exclusions are important:
- Fonts are not included. The template uses free fonts, but you will need to obtain and install them separately. Substituting a font can change line breaks, spacing, and slide balance.
- Photography is not included. Replace the preview images with your own licensed photography or stock assets.
- Mockups are not included. Any device, packaging, or product mockups shown in previews may need to be sourced separately.
The neon-minimalist style may work well for creative, technology, entertainment, or youth-focused brands. It may be a poor match for conservative legal, financial, healthcare, or accessibility-focused presentations unless substantially redesigned.
Best picks by type of creator
- WordPress beginner: Skatecourse, provided you are comfortable installing the listed plugins and adapting a specialized design.
- Graphic designer: The PSD text effect, Hey Bold, and Northern Lights backgrounds provide the fastest routes to new visual directions.
- Brand designer: Business Card Mockups v1 is useful for client presentation, while Hey Bold may suit display-led identity concepts after license review.
- Presentation creator: Neon Minimalist Company Profile Presentation offers the most complete starting structure, but expect to replace fonts and imagery.
- Video editor: The mangrove footage has the clearest technical metadata. The lime clip may be useful, but its specifications and compositing quality need closer inspection.
- Social-media creator: The neon effect, lime footage, and northern-lights images are the quickest options for visually strong short-form content.
How to download safely
- Open Envato Elements directly rather than relying on an old affiliate redirect.
- Visit the official monthly free-files section and sign in or create a free account.
- Confirm that the specific asset is currently marked as free on Envato’s own item page.
- Read the current file-format, software, and license information before downloading.
- Download the ZIP from Envato, not from a scraped resource site or unofficial mirror.
- Save the ZIP, item URL, license information, download date, and project-registration details.
- Test the asset in the intended software before using it in a live project.
For the WordPress kit, use a staging installation. For the Photoshop file, check Smart Objects and fonts. For the presentation, test both the PPTX or Keynote version you intend to deliver. For video, confirm that your editor handles the codec and frame rate without unwanted conversion.

A subscription may make sense for freelancers, agencies, and creators who regularly need templates, fonts, mockups, presentations, WordPress resources, stock footage, and backgrounds. It is less compelling if you need only one asset and can obtain that asset under a suitable single-item license.
Licensing: “free” does not mean copyright-free
These files are not public-domain resources simply because they appeared in a free monthly promotion. “Free download” does not automatically mean copyright-free, unrestricted, or resellable.
Subscription assets
Envato’s current licensing explanation generally permits commercial and client use, but downloads are tied to a specific project. The same asset can typically be used in another project by registering it again. Existing registered projects generally remain covered after cancellation, while new projects require an active subscription.

Do not upload the original ZIP, PSD, font, footage, or presentation to a resource site. Do not give clients a raw asset as the deliverable unless the license specifically permits that use. The normal distinction is between using an asset to create a finished end product and redistributing the asset itself.
Free-file terms
Envato’s current Free Files Use Policy says each free file may be used to create one single commercial end product, provided the result is customized and larger in scope than the original file. It also restricts using one file for multiple end products, redistributing unchanged or lightly modified files, and using a file in an on-demand or build-your-own service.
That policy was updated on December 22, 2025. It should not automatically be described as the exact governing agreement for a download made in August 2024. If the date of download matters, preserve the license attached to that download and seek professional legal advice for a material commercial dispute.
Also check for separate restrictions affecting included fonts, stock footage, music, images, trademarks, or other third-party components. When the license or included-file provenance is unclear, do not assume that a commercial client project is automatically covered.
Common problems to expect
- The monthly selection has expired: An old article can remain online after the free period ends.
- The link redirects: Affiliate URLs may open the current catalog or an unrelated item.
- The item has changed: An author or Envato may update, replace, or remove a product.
- The WordPress import fails: Plugin, PHP, WordPress, Elementor, theme, and add-on versions may no longer match.
- Dependencies are missing: Presentation fonts, photography, mockups, and plugin assets may not be bundled.
- Software compatibility is unclear: “Latest Photoshop CC” is not a precise version specification.
- The video is too large: Transcode the 508.62 MB mangrove clip to an editing-friendly format if playback is sluggish.
- The footage does not key cleanly: A green background does not guarantee clean chroma-key edges.
- The license is used across several projects: Project-specific registration may require separate licensing for each client or end product.
Are these freebies worth using?
Yes, when you treat them as production accelerators rather than permanent replacements for a carefully chosen asset library. The August 2024 selection offered useful variety: a WordPress kit, Photoshop effect, mockup, two videos, a display font, background images, and a presentation template.
They are especially useful for experimentation, one-off campaigns, mockups, social graphics, pitch decks, and early-stage concepts. They are less suitable when a project requires guaranteed long-term availability, highly distinctive branding, extensive vendor support, exact software-version compatibility, or a source file that must remain editable for years.
For current availability, start with Envato’s official monthly free-files page, not the assumption that an August 2024 selection is still active.
