Work through separate prompts for strategy, naming, visual exploration, and testing rather than asking for a complete brand in one request; treat every result as a draft, not a verified or final identity.
These adaptable prompts are for small-business owners, creators, and early-stage founders, including painters and other creative businesses. Replace the bracketed details with your own, review each response, and correct assumptions before using it in the next stage.
How to get useful results from Gemini
Google’s Gemini prompt-writing guidance recommends clear instructions, relevant context, specific details, and breaking complex tasks into smaller requests. For image exploration, Google’s guidance suggests naming the action, intended visual style, subject, and relevant details such as composition or setting. 1. Build a concise brand brief
Start by giving Gemini enough context to understand the business. Answer its questions yourself rather than asking it to invent customer research or business facts.
Prompt: Act as a brand-strategy facilitator. Ask me up to eight questions about [business], [product or service], [audience], [customer problem], [what makes the offer different], [values], and [price or positioning]. Then summarize my answers in a concise brand brief and flag assumptions I should correct. Do not invent customer research or proof.
Review the brief for accuracy. For example, an artist might clarify whether the intended customers are first-time art buyers, collectors, or people commissioning a mural.

Use the approved brief to explore different ways to describe the brand’s place in the market.
Prompt: Using this approved brief: [paste brief], write three distinct positioning statements for [audience]. For each, state the audience, need, promise, evidence I supplied, and what makes it distinct. Do not invent proof or customer research.

Compare the statements for audience fit and clarity. Keep the one that best reflects what you actually offer, not simply the one with the most impressive wording.
3. Explore naming territories
Before requesting a list of names, ask Gemini to explore different sources of meaning. A territory might draw on material, place, process, customer experience, or a founder’s story.
Prompt: Based only on this approved brief: [paste brief], propose five naming territories. For each, describe its idea, tone, and naming risks, then give three sample name directions. Avoid names that imitate well-known brands. Do not claim that any name is legally available.
Choose territories that feel meaningfully different. A painting studio, for example, could explore landscape, the act of making, or the experience of living with art.
4. Generate and assess candidate names
Generate candidates from the territories you want to pursue, then ask Gemini to identify practical concerns. Its comments are prompts for your review, not name-clearance findings.
Prompt: Suggest 20 name candidates for [business] that fit [criteria]. Group them by naming style, explain each name’s intended association, and flag pronunciation, spelling, unintended-meaning, and overly descriptive risks. Do not claim any name is legally available.

Ask for distinct directions rather than a finished logo. Describe the brand and intended uses, and give Gemini explicit visual details to explore.
Prompt: Generate six distinct exploratory logo concept directions for [brand name], [business description], and [audience]. For each, describe the symbol or wordmark, composition, shape language, palette, and intended impression. Keep the concepts simple enough to recognize at small sizes. Do not copy or imitate an existing logo. Treat the results as concepts, not final artwork.

7. Create a visual-style direction
Once you have a promising logo direction, develop a broader visual system. Ask Gemini to show how choices support the positioning rather than returning disconnected swatches or font names.

Test the identity in the places it will actually appear. A direction that works in a large presentation may be difficult to read as a small avatar or on a printed label.
Prompt: Show how this visual direction could adapt to [website header], [social avatar], and [packaging or signage]. Identify where the mark may become unclear at small sizes and propose a high-contrast and a one-color version. State assumptions. Do not claim platform compliance unless checked against that platform’s current requirements.

Make the decision yourself, then record the approved direction and unresolved checks. Keep the prompts and source material for reference, and review copyright and privacy considerations before relying on or publishing generated content.
