GPU and graphics drivers
Resolve relies heavily on the graphics processor. An insufficient GPU can cause startup crashes, poor playback, or unavailable effects. During first-run setup, Resolve checks the operating system and graphics hardware before continuing.
Free-edition limitations
Some features shown in Resolve documentation or menus are Studio-only. AI Neural Engine tools, Magic Mask, additional Resolve FX, temporal noise reduction, and some expanded 10-bit or high-frame-rate support require Studio. If one of these features displays a license prompt, that is a product limitation—not an installation failure.
Website installer versus Mac App Store
