LuBan3D is generative-design software for makers who want to build objects larger than their 3D printer or laser cutter’s working area. It generates parts within a machine’s working dimensions from an oversized model; that capability is the vendor’s claim, not an independent test. You still need to fabricate, fit, join, and finish the parts.
LuBan3D’s official site describes the software as helping designers and makers produce their creations and lists 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling as fabrication methods. It is not the same product as Snapmaker Luban, which is separate software for Snapmaker machines.

What does LuBan3D do?
LuBan3D is generative-design and model-preparation software. It can generate forms such as stacks, plates, reliefs, modules, wireframes, and lithophanes, as well as outputs derived from photographs or 3D meshes. The official site also describes an eyeglass-frame workflow based on a template image.

For oversized projects, the vendor says you can resize a model beyond a machine’s working dimensions and have LuBan3D generate parts within those dimensions. The site contrasts this with Slicer, formerly known as 123DMake, and says LuBan3D offers methods not available in Slicer. A practical workflow for a large project
- Prepare your source. Start with a 3D model, mesh, or image suited to the kind of output you want. Check scale and orientation before generating parts.
- Choose a fabrication method. The official site lists 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling. Consider what your machine and project can actually support.
- Set the working dimensions. Use the usable area of your machine, not an assumed universal dimension. Confirm the generated parts stay within it.
- Choose a construction approach. Select a stack, plate, module, relief, wireframe, or other workflow that suits your object and assembly plan.
- Inspect the generated parts. Review their dimensions and how they will fit together. A generated layout is not a guarantee of a successful build.
- Check export and compatibility. Confirm the required file format and downstream software for your particular machine. The reviewed sources do not establish a universal compatibility list or export specification.
- Fabricate and assemble. Test-fit components and plan how you will join and finish them. The software does not remove the need for fabrication, assembly, or finishing work.
