Most Huion owners do not need a destructive factory reset. If your pen pressure, shortcut keys, screen mapping, calibration, or rotation is wrong, reset the Huion driver instead: open HuionTablet → Settings → Backup → Default Setting. This restores the current device’s software configuration while leaving your artwork files untouched.
The correct procedure depends on the problem. A Kamvas display may need a calibration or OSD reset, while a driver that will not open may need a complete uninstall and reinstall. Only standalone Huion devices with their own operating system should be factory-reset—and that can erase stored data.
Which kind of Huion reset do you need?
| Problem | Correct action |
|---|---|
| Pen pressure, buttons, shortcut keys, or screen mapping are wrong | Reset the Huion driver settings |
| The cursor is offset from the pen tip | Restore or redo Kamvas calibration |
| Brightness, contrast, or display color controls are wrong | Reset the pen display’s OSD |
| The driver will not open or detects no device | Uninstall and reinstall the correct Huion driver |
| A standalone Huion device must be wiped | Use its model-specific factory-reset procedure |
| The device is intermittent, dead, or physically damaged | Check cables, power, ports, pen hardware, and compatibility |
These procedures are not interchangeable. A driver reset restores preferences; it does not update firmware, repair a damaged cable, or erase a standalone device. Menu names also vary between Huion driver generations and models, including V12, V14, V15, and V20. Check Huion’s official download center for the exact model and operating system.

Before resetting your Huion tablet
- Close Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Krita, and other drawing or writing applications.
- Identify your exact Huion model and whether you use Windows or macOS.
- Keep the tablet connected if the driver is working normally.
- Open the driver and export your configuration if you may want to restore it later.
- Note your monitor assignment, screen mapping, rotation, Windows Ink setting, pressure curve, and custom shortcut keys.
In the V15 driver, Export saves the current configuration and Import can restore it later. This is especially useful if you have application-specific shortcuts or a carefully adjusted pressure curve.

How to reset Huion driver settings
This is the best first step when the driver opens and the tablet is detected.
- Connect the Huion tablet or Kamvas display.
- Close your drawing applications.
- Open the HuionTablet driver.
- Select Settings.
- Open Backup.
- Choose Export first if you want to preserve your current setup.
- Click Default Setting and confirm the reset if prompted.
- Reopen your drawing application.
- Test pen movement, pressure, buttons, screen mapping, and tablet keys.
Huion documents this Backup section for importing, exporting, and restoring device settings. Depending on the model and driver, the reset may affect pen pressure settings, pen-button functions, tablet press keys, screen mapping, rotation, Windows Ink or mouse mode, calibration, and other driver preferences. Not every device exposes every option.
A driver reset normally changes software configuration only. It does not delete drawings saved by Photoshop or another application, alter your operating-system files, or reset the tablet’s firmware.

How to restore Kamvas pen calibration
Use calibration controls when the cursor does not line up with the pen tip. This is separate from the broader Default Setting command.
- Open the Huion driver.
- Select the connected Kamvas display.
- Open the working-area or calibration controls.
- Choose Restore Default, if available.
- Run calibration again if the cursor remains offset.
- Click the calibration targets carefully. Huion may require you to use the pen or mouse, depending on the driver interface.
Calibration is available for pen displays, not necessarily ordinary screenless pen tablets. It can correct alignment after moving the display or changing monitors, but it will not repair a damaged pen, cable, display panel, or corrupted driver.
How to reset a Kamvas display’s OSD
Use the display’s on-screen display, or OSD, when the problem concerns brightness, contrast, color, or other monitor controls—not pen pressure or shortcut keys.

- Open the OSD using the Kamvas model’s hardware buttons or assigned control.
- Select Reset.
- Confirm the reset.
- Restart or reconnect the display if necessary.
Hardware controls differ between Kamvas models, so there is no universal button combination. If OSD settings appear blank in the Windows driver, Huion recommends removing HDMI adapters or extension cables where possible and connecting the HDMI cable directly. Reinstall the correct driver if the issue continues. See Huion’s OSD troubleshooting guidance.

If settings disappear after every reboot, the problem may be permissions or driver initialization rather than incorrect preferences.
- Export your settings from Settings → Backup.
- In the V15 Windows driver, open Settings → General.
- Click Administrator privileges, if that button is present, and approve the change.
- Restart the driver and test whether settings persist.
- Reinstall the driver if the problem continues.
- Close other tablet utilities and drawing applications while testing.
The administrator button may disappear after permission has already been granted. On Windows, Fast Startup, user-account permissions, compatibility issues, software conflicts, and an incomplete installation can also contribute to settings not being saved. Huion covers these possibilities in its settings-not-saved troubleshooting guide. On a work or school computer, contact the organization’s IT administrator rather than bypassing security controls.

How to factory-reset a standalone Huion device
Warning: Do not use a standalone-device factory reset for an ordinary USB pen tablet or Kamvas display. It can erase local content.
Standalone Huion products such as Huion Ink have their own operating system and storage. For Huion Ink, the documented route is:
Settings → Device → Factory Reset
Huion’s manual says this reboots the device and erases notes, books, files, user data, system and application data, settings, and downloaded applications. Back up anything important first, and follow the exact manual for your model. A standalone factory reset is not the same as resetting the Huion driver.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

- Test the cursor: move the pen across the active area and confirm that the cursor follows it.
- Test pressure: draw several light and heavy strokes in your application.
- Test controls: try both pen buttons and every tablet press key.
- Check mapping: confirm the intended monitor is selected and that the active area is correct.
- Check orientation: verify rotation or left-handed mode.
- Check hardware: try another compatible port and cable, and remove adapters where possible.
- Check power: a Kamvas display may need the correct power connection as well as data and video.
- Test another computer: this helps separate computer configuration from tablet hardware.
- Remove conflicting drivers: uninstall unused drivers from Huion or other tablet brands.
- Reinstall the correct driver: match the exact model and operating system.
A reset cannot repair a damaged USB or USB-C cable, faulty port, inadequate power, defective pen, damaged tablet surface, incompatible operating system, or other hardware failure. If the device remains undetected after reinstalling and testing another cable, port, or computer, contact Huion support.
Should you update the firmware?
Firmware is separate from driver settings. Do not update firmware as a routine reset. Use Huion’s firmware tools only when Huion provides a tool for your exact model and the problem appears firmware-related. Model support is limited, and an interrupted or incorrect firmware process can create additional problems.
Quick decision guide
- The driver opens and the tablet works: export your settings, then use Settings → Backup → Default Setting.
- The pen tip is misaligned on a Kamvas: restore calibration defaults and recalibrate.
- The image controls are wrong: reset the model’s OSD.
- The driver will not open or detect the device: uninstall and reinstall the correct driver.
- The device stores files itself: back up your data before using its model-specific factory reset.
- The tablet remains physically undetected: investigate cables, power, ports, compatibility, and hardware rather than repeatedly resetting software.
For model-specific drivers, manuals, and compatibility information, use Huion’s official download center. Resets are safest when you match the procedure to the actual fault: restore preferences first, reinstall only when the driver is broken, and reserve factory reset for standalone devices that genuinely need their stored data erased.
