Yes. Both current One by Wacom models—the Small CTL-472 and Medium CTL-672—include a cordless, battery-free LP-190K pen with 2,048 pressure levels.
One by Wacom is a screenless pen tablet: you draw on its surface while viewing your artwork on a connected computer or compatible Chromebook. It supports pen pressure, but it does not have a display, finger-touch input, wireless connectivity, or ExpressKeys.
What pressure sensitivity means
The tablet detects the force applied by the pressure-sensitive LP-190K pen and sends that information through USB to compatible software. An art application can then use pressure to change brush size, opacity, flow, darkness, or another stroke property.
Pressure sensitivity is different from touch sensitivity. One by Wacom responds to its included pen, not to finger gestures. It is also not a pressure-sensitive screen: the tablet has no built-in display, so the pen does not draw directly on the image.
#1 Best Overall
- Entry-Level Tablet: Drawing tablet dimensions are 9.92" x 7.13" x 0.31" with a 8.5" x 5.3" active area; pen-on-paper feeling for digital pen starters, drawing, editing photos, or visual communication
- Precision Pen Performance: Included Wacom One Pen features natural tilt recognition, virtually lag-free tracking, 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and 2 customizable switches
- Optimal Efficiency: Shortcut buttons on the pen can be customized for your favorite keyboard shortcuts like undo or copy/paste, helping you stay immersed in your art
- Multiple Compatibility: Connect to Windows PC, Mac, Chromebook, and Android smartphones and tablets via USB-C (some devices require 2nd USB-A adapters)
- Includes: Medium Wacom One graphic design tablet, battery-free Wacom One Pen, power adapter, USB-C cable and quick start guide
The advertised 2,048 pressure levels describe the range of force values the pen can report. They are a hardware specification, not a guarantee that every application will expose every level or map pressure identically. The brush engine, application settings, driver, pressure curve, and your technique all affect the result. A larger advertised number on another tablet does not, by itself, prove that it will produce better artwork.
Which One by Wacom models support pressure?
| Model | Active area | Pen pressure | Other details |
|---|---|---|---|
| One by Wacom Small CTL-472 | 6.0 × 3.7 in (152 × 95 mm) | 2,048 levels | Battery-free LP-190K pen; USB |
| One by Wacom Medium CTL-672 | 8.5 × 5.3 in (216 × 135 mm) | 2,048 levels | Battery-free LP-190K pen; USB |
Both models also list 2,540 lpi resolution. Their pressure specification is the same, so choose between them based on drawing area, desk space, portability, screen size, and preferred arm movement—not on pressure performance.
The pen is cordless and battery-free, so it does not need charging. It is designed to be used with the One by Wacom tablet; it is not a standalone Bluetooth or USI stylus.

Will pressure work automatically?
Not always. Windows and macOS users should install the current Wacom driver, while compatible Chromebook users generally use ChromeOS support rather than the Windows or macOS driver. Pressure also requires an application and brush that accept tablet-pressure input.

Windows or macOS setup
- Check the model number on the tablet or packaging: CTL-472 or CTL-672.
- Connect the tablet with its USB cable.
- Open Wacom’s driver download page, then search by product name or model number.
- Download and install the current driver for your operating system.
- Open Wacom Center after installation and test the pen in its diagnostic or pressure-testing area.
- In your art application, select a pressure-enabled brush and enable pressure control for size, opacity, flow, or the relevant parameter.
Wacom lists Windows and macOS support, but operating-system requirements and driver support can change. Check the current compatibility and driver pages rather than relying on an old minimum-version list.
Chromebook setup
- Confirm that your Chromebook is a supported ChromeOS device.
- Connect One by Wacom over USB.
- If the Chromebook has only USB-C ports, use a suitable USB-C adapter. Some adapters, hubs, or cables may not pass tablet data reliably.
- Use the pen on the tablet surface; the LP-190K is not an independent Chromebook stylus.
- Test it in a ChromeOS-compatible application that supports external tablet pressure.
“Works with Chromebook” does not mean that every Chromebook, browser-based application, remote desktop, or education tool will receive pressure data. Compatibility depends on the device, ChromeOS version, application, and connection.
Does it work in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Clip Studio Paint?
One by Wacom can provide pressure data to applications that support tablet pressure input, including many professional drawing and photo-editing programs. However, the exact behavior depends on the application version and configuration. You may need to select a suitable brush, assign pressure to size or opacity, or choose the application’s supported tablet API.
If pressure works in Wacom Center but not in one particular application, the tablet is not necessarily defective. The likely causes are an application setting, a pressure-disabled brush, a Windows Ink or tablet-API mismatch, a plugin, or an environment such as remote desktop that does not pass pressure data.
How to troubleshoot missing pressure
Use this order. It separates a driver or hardware problem from an application-only problem.

- RELIABLE PERFORMANCE: Wacom's proven reliability works seamlessly with your computer – no driver headaches, mysterious disconnects, or frustrating "why isn't this working?" moments common with cheaper alternatives
- COMPATIBILITY: PC (Windows 10 or later), Mac (OS 13 or later), Chromebook; Easy plug-in via single USB-C: devices requiring HDMI require additional converter, cable and power adapter kit (sold separately)
- Confirm that the tablet is detected.
- Reconnect the USB cable.
- Try another USB port.
- On a Chromebook, test without an unnecessary hub or adapter if possible.
- Make sure the cable and adapter can transmit data, not merely provide power.
The tablet uses USB connectivity. A lit or powered device is not sufficient proof that pressure data is reaching the computer.

Check whether the driver receives varying pressure. This is the most useful dividing line:
- Pressure works in the driver but not the art application: inspect the application’s brush, tablet, Windows Ink, and pressure settings.
- Pressure fails in the driver too: investigate the USB connection, driver, pen, nib, interference, or hardware.
Wacom’s pressure troubleshooting guide covers this model family.
- Check the brush and application settings.
Choose a brush known to respond to pressure. Look for controls such as pressure for size, opacity, or flow. Some tools deliberately produce a uniform line, so testing with one of those cannot confirm whether the tablet works.
Also check whether the application uses Windows Ink or another tablet-input mode. On Windows, Wacom says to turn Windows Ink on in the Wacom driver when the software requires Windows Ink. This is conditional: enabling or disabling it indiscriminately can create problems in applications that use a different input method.

- Replace a worn, bent, or distorted nib with a Wacom-designed replacement.
- If available, test with a known-good compatible LP-190K pen.

Download the latest driver from Wacom rather than relying on an old installer. Wacom Center is used for product and driver updates. Driver versions change, so check the current Wacom driver page for the version available for your operating system.

One by Wacom versus Wacom One
The names are easy to confuse, but these are separate product families. One by Wacom refers here to the screenless CTL-472 and CTL-672 tablets. Wacom One is a newer, separate family; the Wacom US store lists a Wacom One Pen Tablet under model CTCW1AB.
Check the model number before buying. Do not assume that a listing using “Wacom One” is the same product as “One by Wacom.” Software bundles and registration-based offers can also change, so treat them as conditional current offers rather than permanent inclusions.
Small or Medium?
Choose the CTL-472 Small if portability, a compact desk, or occasional use matters most. Its 6.0 × 3.7-inch active area is easier to carry but gives you less drawing room.

Choose the CTL-672 Medium if you want an 8.5 × 5.3-inch workspace for broader strokes or a more comfortable long-session posture. It takes more desk and carrying space.
Neither model has more pressure sensitivity than the other: both are rated at 2,048 levels.
Is One by Wacom the right tablet for you?
It is a sensible fit for beginners, students, hobby artists, annotators, basic photo editing, handwriting, and anyone who wants an inexpensive pressure-sensitive tablet without a screen. Prices and stock vary, so check the Wacom store or local retailer for current availability and pricing.
Consider another tablet if you need to draw directly on a display, use finger gestures, work wirelessly, access built-in shortcut keys, use a larger professional active area, or depend on pressure in a particular browser, remote-desktop setup, or specialized application.
Wacom’s US tablet category lists related options, including Intuos models with ExpressKeys and, on some versions, Bluetooth. It also distinguishes the current Wacom One Pen Tablet from One by Wacom. Compare model numbers and features rather than relying on similar names or changing store prices.
FAQ
Does One by Wacom work in Photoshop?
Yes, it can send pressure data to Photoshop when the application version, tablet settings, and selected brush support pressure input. If lines remain uniform, test pressure in Wacom Center first, then check Photoshop’s brush and tablet settings.
Can I use another Wacom pen with One by Wacom?
Use the included LP-190K or a replacement explicitly confirmed for CTL-472 or CTL-672. Wacom pen compatibility is model-specific, so do not assume that another Wacom stylus will work.
Recommended Free Tools
Is 2,048 pressure levels enough for beginners?
It establishes pressure-sensitive input for supported software and is sufficient for many beginner, school, hobby, and general illustration workflows. The advertised level count alone does not determine stroke quality or application compatibility.
