For general-purpose batch processing in GIMP 3, Batcher is the strongest supported BIMP-style option in the reviewed sources. It handles image conversion, image and layer workflows, common editing actions, and conditional processing. “Closest replacement” is an editorial judgment, not the result of an independent feature or performance test.
The Batcher project lists version 1.2.10, dated July 26, 2026, and describes the plug-in as BSD 3-Clause licensed. Check its current project page for download and installation instructions; setup depends on your GIMP installation and operating system.
Does BIMP work with GIMP 3?
The original BIMP repository describes a plug-in for applying a set of GIMP manipulations to groups of images, and documents a Windows installer and source compilation. A separate community project, gimp-plugin-bimp3, describes a BIMP 2.6 port for GIMP 3.x, but its maintainer says it has not been tested end-to-end in a live GIMP 3 environment and should be treated as work in progress.

- Open the Batcher project page and follow its current download and installation instructions.
- Check the instructions for your GIMP installation and operating system before copying or configuring plug-in files.
- After installation, use the project’s usage material to identify the relevant batch actions and settings.
- Test your intended workflow on representative files before relying on it for a larger job.
This research reviewed the project documentation but did not install Batcher or verify its operation on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Do not assume one set of installation steps applies to every system.

Can I batch-process GIMP images from the command line?
GIMP’s official BatchProcedure API supports batch procedures invoked through command-line batch options. It is a script-oriented route, not a like-for-like graphical replacement for BIMP.
