In brief: Logitech’s MX Creative Console has some of the appeal of a Stream Deck—customizable keys that can trigger app-specific commands—but it is better understood as a compact creative-workflow controller. Its nine LCD keys pair with a separate physical dial, making it most interesting to photographers and retouchers who regularly use Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, or Photoshop. It supplements your keyboard and mouse; it does not replace them, and its usefulness depends on Logitech’s companion software and how well its current profiles work with your apps.

What the MX Creative Console is

The MX Creative Console is a two-piece control system. One unit is a keypad with nine customizable LCD keys; the other is a separate dialpad with a physical dial and additional controls. The keypad connects to the computer over USB-C. The dialpad is wireless, using Bluetooth or a compatible Logi Bolt receiver, and runs on two AAA batteries. The units can sit apart, so you can place the dial near your editing hand and the keypad wherever it is easiest to see and reach.

  • Customize for Any App: Assign tools and actions to up to 15 keypad pages by profile, dial, and roller, and upload your own icons to the customizable LCD display keys

Logitech’s quick-start guide lists the keypad, dialpad, stand, USB-C cable, and two AAA batteries among the included components. The arrangement is a meaningful distinction from a conventional button grid: the keys can call up named actions, while the dial offers tactile, continuous adjustment. Logitech’s quick-start guide covers the contents and initial connection.

Why compare it with a Stream Deck?

Both devices put frequently used commands on physical controls, let you customize profiles, and can switch assignments for different applications. That can make commands easier to find and reduce dependence on memorized shortcuts. But “Stream Deck” is a family of products, not one fixed specification, and the comparison is about workflow rather than a one-for-one match.

Workflow question MX Creative Console Stream Deck, depending on model
What is the core layout? Nine LCD keys plus a separate dialpad. Primarily a grid of customizable LCD keys; controls vary by model.
What is the dial for? A physical control for continuous adjustments and other assigned actions. Some models have additional controls, but the Stream Deck Neo, for example, has eight LCD keys and two touch points, not the MX Console’s separate analog dial.
Where is the emphasis? Creative-app workflows, particularly Logitech’s listed integrations. Broad macros, streaming and broadcast workflows, and Elgato ecosystem control, depending on setup and model.
How is it arranged? Two separate units that can be placed independently. Usually a single unit.

The Stream Deck Neo is a useful specific comparison, not a stand-in for every Stream Deck. A Stream Deck may make more sense if your priority is streaming, smart-home or Elgato-device control, or a large collection of page-based shortcuts. The MX Console’s particular appeal is combining labeled shortcut keys with a tactile dial for creative work.

What it can do for photo editing

Think of the console as a way to put repeated actions within reach—not as an automatic editing system. Depending on the application, profile, and command available, you might assign keys to switch tools, run frequent Photoshop commands, move between panels or modes, zoom, or trigger repetitive menu actions. A dial can be assigned to a continuous value or function, such as brush size, zoom, scrolling, or an image-control value when that command is available. Don’t assume every adjustment in Lightroom or Photoshop is exposed as a native dial action.

Logitech describes a contextual mode in which a dial’s temporary function can change with the selected tool or action. For example, you could use the dial for a default function, select a brush, use it to change brush size, and then return to its default role. The practical benefit is quick tactile access to controls you use often; it will depend on how you configure the profile and whether the relevant integration behaves reliably in your software version. Logitech’s product guide explains its profiles and contextual dial behavior.

A control surface does not improve image quality by itself. It does not replace sound catalog organization, color management, editing judgment, a graphics tablet for pressure-sensitive work, or a keyboard and mouse for general navigation. Its value is convenience and workflow efficiency for people who repeat enough actions to benefit from dedicated controls.

Apps, profiles, and setup

Logitech lists integrations for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Illustrator, as well as Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Figma, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Spotify, and other apps through its Marketplace. The list can change. Also, a dedicated plugin or profile is not the same thing as generic shortcut mapping: unsupported apps can still be usable if you create a profile and assign keyboard shortcuts, but that may be less capable or convenient than a purpose-built integration.

Logitech calls automatic application-specific profile switching Adapt to App. When the feature switches profiles as an app comes to the foreground, the same dial and keys can serve different roles—for example, an editing control in Lightroom, a brush or zoom command in Photoshop, and a timeline function in Premiere Pro. This depends on the correct app profile being active.

Logi Options+ is the main configuration software, and the Logi Marketplace provides plugins, profiles, and icon packs. As listed by Logitech on August 18, 2026, Marketplace requirements are Windows 10 or later, macOS 13 or later, and Logi Options+ version 1.83 or later. These requirements can change, so check the current Marketplace page before buying, especially if you use an older operating system.

  1. Connect the keypad to your computer with the included USB-C cable.
  2. Insert the two AAA batteries into the dialpad and turn it on.
  3. Pair the dialpad through your computer’s Bluetooth settings, or connect it using a compatible Logi Bolt receiver. If it does not enter pairing mode, Logitech says to hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds.
  4. Install or update Logi Options+ and open the console’s device configuration.
  5. Install the relevant app plugin or profile from the Marketplace, then customize keys, dial behavior, labels, and icons.
  6. Test your assignments in the target app and confirm that Adapt to App selects the intended profile.

Lightroom and Lightroom Classic should be treated as separate applications. Logitech lists both, but their interfaces, available actions, and plugin behavior can differ; a successful setup in one does not guarantee the same experience in the other. Verify compatibility for your exact app version and operating system.

Strengths—and reasons to hesitate

The strongest case for the console is the combination of visible labels and a separate dial in a relatively compact setup. Dedicated profiles can reduce the work of setting up common actions from scratch, and generic shortcuts give the hardware some use outside apps with dedicated integrations. For an Adobe user who edits often and wants tactile access to repeated adjustments, that can be more appealing than a grid of unlabeled keys or repeated mouse dragging.

The software deserves scrutiny. An Amateur Photographer review published in November 2024 reported glitchy Lightroom operation and friction around account registration, and noted that Bridge and Camera Raw were not supported at the time of that review. Those are historical findings, not proof that the same problems persist in 2026. Still, they are a reason to check current Logitech documentation, release notes, and recent reports for your own operating system and Lightroom version before paying. PetaPixel also concluded that the product loses much of its appeal for users outside Adobe Creative Cloud; that is a useful caution if your main editor is Capture One, Affinity Photo, or another application.

The console also has a limited number of physical controls compared with a dedicated multi-dial editing panel. It is not a professional color-grading surface, a tablet, or a substitute for broad keyboard-and-mouse navigation. If your existing shortcuts and mouse already make editing comfortable, the console may add little. It is most defensible when you regularly repeat actions, want tactile adjustments, benefit from labeled controls, use several supported creative apps, and are willing to customize profiles and rely on Logi Options+.

Which control setup fits your workflow?

  • Choose the MX Creative Console if you regularly use Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, or Photoshop and specifically want a separate dial alongside visible, app-specific shortcut keys. Its U.S. list price was $199.99 on Logitech’s store on August 18, 2026; price and availability can change. The store also advertises a three-month Adobe membership offer, but check eligibility and redemption terms before treating it as part of the value.
  • Choose a Stream Deck if streaming, broadcast control, Elgato ecosystem features, or general automation matter more than a dedicated adjustment dial. Compare the exact model and its controls rather than assuming the whole product family is identical.
  • Consider TourBox if you want a denser set of physical controls and broader hands-on creative editing presets. TourBox describes support for major creative apps and keyboard-shortcut-driven control, with different models and features; compare its layout with Logitech’s LCD keys and separate dial before deciding.
  • Keep your keyboard and mouse if you edit occasionally or already have a quick shortcut workflow. For brush-heavy retouching, a graphics tablet may be a more meaningful upgrade than another set of shortcut controls.
  • Consider a larger editing surface if your priority is many simultaneous physical dials for grading or extensive image adjustments. The MX Console is a compact accessory, not a full editing panel.

At the time of the cited Logitech product information, the company listed integrations for Photoshop, Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Figma, Zoom, Teams, and Spotify. Check the current product page and Marketplace for your specific app. Logitech’s U.S. store listing showed $199.99 on August 18, 2026; regional pricing and offers may differ.

If a control or profile does not work

  • The wrong Lightroom controls appear: Check which Lightroom app is in the foreground and which profile Logi Options+ shows as active. Update Options+ and the plugin, then test a simple keyboard-shortcut assignment. If the supplied profile remains unreliable, create a dedicated custom profile. Lightroom and Lightroom Classic may require different assignments.
  • A desired command is missing: If the app supports a keyboard shortcut for it, create a custom profile and map the key or dial action to that shortcut. This is a fallback, not equivalent to a native plugin action.
  • The dialpad disconnects: Check the AAA batteries, Bluetooth pairing, whether the dialpad is connected to another computer, and whether you can use a compatible Logi Bolt receiver. To re-enter pairing mode, hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds, as described in the quick-start guide.
  • You need Bridge or Camera Raw: Do not assume support based on other Adobe integrations. Check Logitech’s current Marketplace listing for the exact application; earlier independent testing reported those apps were not supported at the time.
  • Your computer runs an older OS: Verify current Marketplace and Logi Options+ requirements before purchase. The listed Marketplace requirements on August 18, 2026 were Windows 10 or later and macOS 13 or later.
