Use an AI singing or voice-conversion tool only after you have permission for every human voice in the input, reference recording, and trained model. Keep that permission, follow the product’s voice and commercial-use terms, and label the result when your audience could mistake it for the person’s real performance.
What You Need To Clear Before Generating Music
- The source performance: Confirm that you may upload, transform, or distribute the vocal recording, MIDI performance, lyrics, and any samples.
- The person’s voice: Get explicit permission to clone, train, convert, or imitate the singer. A general recording release may not clearly cover synthetic voice use.
- The destination: Check whether your intended release is personal, monetized, client work, or commercial distribution. The same generated file can have different permissions under a paid or free plan.
- The model and voice bank: Read the terms for any supplied, downloaded, or community-trained voice. The tool’s own terms may not grant rights to a third-party voice.

Step 1: Write A Voice And Rights Brief
- Write the song purpose, release destination, and whether money or a client is involved.
- Name the singer or voice owner, the recording you will use, and the exact permission granted: upload, training, conversion, editing, public release, and commercial use where applicable.
- Record restrictions such as attribution, territory, duration, permitted platforms, and whether the permission can be withdrawn.
- For a supplied voice bank or model, save its license page and version date. If the terms are not clear, do not publish the output until the vendor or rights holder clarifies them.
Step 2: Prepare An Input That Matches The Tool
Choose the workflow the product actually documents. For LyricToMelody AI or ACE Studio, prepare lyrics and/or MIDI for a sung draft. For SightSinger or Sinsy, prepare a MusicXML score. For Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, prepare MIDI and lyric data for a synthesized voice. For VOCALO CHANGER PLUGIN, prepare a singing performance in a compatible DAW.

Do not assume a tool accepts a vocal recording, clones a singer, exports stems, or supports your language or genre simply because another product does. Check the vendor page for any capability not listed above.
Step 3: Generate A Clearly Authorized Voice
- Open the product and select an included or licensed voice. If you use a custom voice, upload only recordings covered by your written permission.
- Enter a specific musical instruction that describes the performance rather than a person. Example: “Sing these lyrics in a restrained verse, clear consonants, steady 4/4 timing, and a wider dynamic lift in the chorus.”
- For a MIDI workflow, edit note lengths, rests, pitch, and lyric syllables before rendering. For score workflows, verify that every part is assigned to the intended voice.
- Render a short private passage first. Listen for accidental words, timing artifacts, or a voice resemblance that exceeds the permission you obtained.
Step 4: Keep A Consent And Terms Record
- Save the original audio or MIDI, the generated settings, model or voice-bank name, export date, and product plan.
- Keep the permission document with the project files, including any required attribution.
- Save the relevant pricing, plan, and voice-license pages as PDFs or screenshots because online terms can change.
- For LyricToMelody AI, use a paid plan if you need the documented commercial rights. For Altered-style attribution licenses or any other restriction you encounter, follow the exact stated requirement; do not infer that a free output is cleared for release.
Step 5: Review Before Publishing
- Check that the final vocal uses only authorized source material and voices.
- Confirm that your plan covers the intended use. SightSinger’s commercial use depends on paid plans and voice terms; ACE Studio has voice- and feature-specific exceptions; VOCALO CHANGER PLUGIN terms can vary by voice bank.
- Check every model, dataset, vocoder, sample, and lyric for separate restrictions. This is essential for DiffSinger projects.
- Credit the performer, voice owner, tool, or voice bank whenever the applicable terms require it.
- Label the vocal as AI-generated or AI-converted when disclosure helps listeners understand what they are hearing, especially when the sound could be mistaken for a real singer.
When The Terms Are Not Stated
The supplied details do not establish commercial permission, voice ownership, attribution rules, or platform coverage for every product. Treat those points as unresolved and check the linked vendor terms before release.
