The full Procreate app is made for iPad. Procreate is not officially listed for Android, Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS. However, Procreate also makes Procreate Pocket, a separate iPhone app. So the precise answer is: Procreate’s flagship drawing app is iPad-only, while the Procreate family also includes an iPhone edition.
Which devices can run Procreate?
Procreate’s official lineup distinguishes between its iPad app, Procreate Pocket for iPhone, and Procreate Dreams for supported iPads. The product pages do not list native Android, Windows, Mac, or Chromebook versions.

The iPad app is built around a touch interface and stylus input. Before buying an iPad, check that the exact model can install the current app and supports the Apple Pencil you intend to use. Apple Pencil generations are not universally compatible with every iPad.

- iPad compatibility: verify the model and operating-system requirement in Procreate’s current documentation.
- Stylus: an Apple Pencil is not necessarily required to open or use the app; finger input and some third-party styluses can work. Pencil pressure, tilt, palm rejection, and comfort make a compatible Apple Pencil preferable for serious drawing.
- Storage: allow room for large canvases, imported brushes, reference images, and time-lapse recordings.
- Performance: high-resolution canvases, many layers, 3D painting, and animation demand more memory and processing power than casual sketching.

Is Procreate Pocket the same as Procreate for iPad?
No. Procreate Pocket is a separate iPhone application with a smaller-screen interface and its own feature set. It shares many Procreate concepts, including layers, brushes, animation tools, time-lapse recording, PSD support, and common image exports, but you should not assume complete feature parity with the iPad app.

What about Procreate Dreams?
Procreate Dreams is a separate animation and motion-creation app for supported iPads. It is not a Mac, Windows, Android, or Chromebook port of Procreate, and it does not change the platform availability of the main drawing app. See the Dreams FAQ for current requirements.

Can you use Procreate without owning an iPad?
Use an iPhone
Procreate Pocket is the official route. It suits quick sketches, small illustrations, portable practice, and animation experiments, but the phone screen is less comfortable for detailed, long-form work.
Borrow or use a shared iPad
A compatible family, school, library, or second-hand iPad can run the flagship app if it meets the current requirements. Confirm the model, operating system, Pencil support, storage, and account arrangements before relying on it.

Move files to another computer
Procreate can export work in formats including PSD, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF, GIF, and MP4, among others listed by the app. You can continue editing those exports in desktop software, but file interchange is not the same as running Procreate on a Mac or Windows PC. Native project files may not open with every application.
Remote access and virtualization
Remote-control methods can display an iPad on another computer, but they are workarounds rather than official support. Latency, pen input, file access, network reliability, and account limitations can make them unsuitable for serious work.

Why unofficial Android or Windows downloads are a bad idea
Packages claiming to be “Procreate for Android” or “Procreate for Windows” are not official versions listed by Procreate. Sideloaded APKs and installers can be outdated, incompatible, or contain malware, and they may expose artwork or account data. Use software designed for your operating system instead.
Alternatives by device
These apps can replace parts of the workflow, but none should be described as an identical Procreate port.

Buy an iPad for Procreate when you specifically want a portable, direct-on-screen illustration workflow and are comfortable with the total cost: iPad, compatible Apple Pencil if desired, storage, case, and the app. It may be poor value if you already own a capable Windows or Android pen device and your chosen software meets your needs.
