Clip Studio Paint v2.0.1 is not officially documented as a universal pen-pressure bug. Clip Studio’s confirmed-problems page, updated June 27, 2023, lists other fixes but no general pressure regression. The timing may instead reflect a changed tablet-service setting, driver conflict, operating-system update, application profile, calibration issue, or brush that is not pressure-linked. Test the input path before reinstalling Clip Studio Paint.

Start with a default pressure-sensitive brush, check whether the tablet utility receives pressure, then use the platform-specific steps below.

Identify what is actually failing

Use a new raster layer and a default pen or pencil. Draw several strokes from very light to heavy pressure. Then check the tablet manufacturer’s diagnostic utility and, if possible, another art application.

Test Result Most likely cause
Tablet utility detects pressure, but Clip Studio Paint does not Pressure is available outside CSP Clip Studio tablet-service setting, driver mode, application profile, preferences, or brush settings
No pressure in the tablet utility Pressure fails everywhere Driver, pen, nib, battery, cable, hardware, or operating-system input
Pressure works in another art app but not CSP CSP-specific failure Tablet service, preferences, or CSP configuration
Pressure works with a default CSP brush but not a custom brush Only one tool is affected That brush’s size, opacity, flow, or blending dynamics are not linked to pressure
Cursor does not move or clicks fail Broader pen-input failure Connection, driver, pen, or operating-system problem
Pressure is present but feels too weak or strong Input is detected Pressure curve or brush-response calibration
Pressure returns after changing Wintab or TabletPC Input service was mismatched Keep the service that matches your hardware and driver

A brush can be pressure-insensitive even when Clip Studio Paint receives pressure correctly. Inspect the brush’s dynamics for size, opacity, flow, or other parameters before treating a single-tool result as a tablet failure.

Try the reversible fixes first

  1. Save your work, close Clip Studio Paint, restart it, and restart the computer if the problem persists.
  2. Connect the tablet directly, verify that the correct pen is being used, and test the manufacturer’s utility.
  3. Use a default pressure-sensitive brush on a new raster layer.
  4. Run the desktop pressure calibration: choose File > Pen Pressure Settings, draw with light and heavy pressure, select Check adjusted settings, choose a stronger or lighter curve if necessary, and select Done. This adjusts response; it cannot repair a driver that supplies no pressure data.

Windows and macOS external tablets: select the correct service

For an external Wacom, XP-Pen, Huion, or similar tablet, Clip Studio’s normal path is Wintab.

  1. Open File > Preferences.
  2. Select Tablet.
  3. Under Using tablet service, select Wintab.
  4. Select OK, restart Clip Studio Paint, and test the default brush again.

Wintab and Windows Ink are related but different settings. In the tablet manufacturer’s utility, use the configuration recommended for your model’s Wintab mode. If that fails, test the manufacturer’s alternative Windows Ink configuration together with the corresponding Clip Studio tablet-service choice. Change one coherent configuration at a time and restart CSP after each change; there is no universal “always enable” or “always disable” rule.

Repair the tablet driver

  1. Close Clip Studio Paint and other drawing applications.
  2. Restart the tablet utility and computer.
  3. Use the manufacturer’s diagnostic or reset function.
  4. If pressure is still missing, uninstall the tablet driver using the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Restart the computer.
  6. Install the latest driver for the exact tablet model and operating-system version from the manufacturer.
  7. Restart again and test CSP.

Remove drivers from tablet brands you no longer use. Multiple Wacom, XP-Pen, Huion, or other drivers can compete for the same input. Reinstalling a driver can remove custom mappings, shortcuts, and application profiles, so record those settings first. Clip Studio documents driver removal and reinstallation as a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed cure (official guidance).

Surface and other Windows tablet PCs

A built-in pen computer such as a Surface follows a different input path from an external tablet. In Clip Studio Paint, open File > Preferences > Tablet and select TabletPC under Using tablet service. Select OK, restart CSP, and test with the device’s dedicated pressure-sensitive pen. Remove conflicting external-tablet drivers if they are installed. Clip Studio’s tablet-PC instructions are documented here.

iPad: Wacom settings and iPadOS accessibility

  1. Tap the Clip Studio Paint icon to open its app settings.
  2. Open Wacom stylus.
  3. Turn off Enable Wacom stylus settings if it is enabled.
  4. Return to the Clip Studio Paint menu and open Pen Pressure Settings.
  5. Reset or recalibrate pressure and test with a supported Apple Pencil or other compatible pressure-sensitive stylus.

On some iPadOS 17 or later configurations, pressure can stop working when both settings are enabled at Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Touch Accommodations: Touch Accommodations and Hold Duration. Turn off either setting, then test again. This is a documented combination-specific workaround, not evidence that every iPad running CSP 2.0.1 is affected (iPadOS notice).

Galaxy and Android: verify device and version support

Android pressure requires a compatible pressure-sensitive device and pen, such as a supported Galaxy S Pen or listed Wacom, XP-Pen, or Huion hardware. Clip Studio states that Galaxy/Android versions 2.3.0 and later support pen pressure on all plans; version 2.3.0 was released December 5, 2023. Therefore, do not apply desktop Wintab or TabletPC instructions to an Android edition, and check the device and plan requirements in Clip Studio’s supported-device information and Android version notice.

If pressure still fails after the driver check

  1. Test the pen, nib, battery (where applicable), cable, and tablet connection. Try another port or cable if the hardware supports it.
  2. Confirm that you are not testing with a mouse, finger, non-pressure stylus, or unsupported pen.
  3. Test another art application. Failure everywhere points away from CSP and toward the device, driver, or operating system.
  4. Back up custom workspaces, shortcuts, brushes, and other settings before resetting Clip Studio Paint preferences. A damaged preference can be repaired this way, but a reset removes custom configuration.
  5. If the failure began immediately after a tablet-driver update, a manufacturer-supported driver rollback is a reasonable diagnostic comparison. It is not proof that CSP v2.0.1 caused the issue.

Should you roll back Clip Studio Paint?

Use rollback only after testing the tablet service, brush, calibration, driver, and another application. Obtain an older build only from Clip Studio’s official download or support channels, back up documents and settings, and compare whether pressure follows the CSP version or the driver configuration. Older builds can introduce licensing, compatibility, or file-format risks; rollback is a diagnostic last resort rather than the first fix. Clip Studio’s release information is available at the official release notes and download page.

When to contact support

Contact Clip Studio or the tablet manufacturer when pressure fails in both CSP and the tablet utility, the device is missing from the operating system, or a clean driver reinstall does not restore pressure in any drawing application. Escalate intermittent failures that survive service and driver changes, or problems limited to a particular tablet model, operating-system build, or current driver.

Include the Clip Studio edition and exact version, operating-system version, tablet and pen model, driver version, whether pressure works in the utility and another art app, screenshots of Preferences > Tablet and the tablet utility, and whether every brush or only one brush is affected.

What the v2.0.1 record actually establishes

Clip Studio’s official v2.0.1 confirmed-problems page was updated June 27, 2023. It records fixes such as layer-folder display behavior in v2.0.2 (April 21, 2023) and Windows drag-and-drop behavior in v2.0.6 (June 27, 2023), but it does not identify a universal pen-pressure regression in v2.0.1. That omission cannot disprove individual reports; it means the page does not establish a broad, confirmed pressure bug. Read the record at Clip Studio’s confirmed-problems page.
