Verdict: The AlgoLaser Pixi is a compact, enclosed diode engraver for small projects, with a fixed 100 × 100 mm work area, three visible-light power options, and support for AlgoLaser App, LightBurn, and LaserGRBL. It is most credible for wood, leather, paper, stone, ceramics, and coated-metal projects that fit inside that small workspace. Buyers who need bare-metal marking should look at the separate 1.5W 1064 nm infrared Pixi rather than assume a 3W, 5W, or 10W diode model will do it.
What the AlgoLaser Pixi is
AlgoLaser sells the Pixi as a small enclosed laser engraver. The official product page lists 3W, 5W, and 10W diode versions, all with a 100 × 100 mm working area and a listed maximum working speed of 6000 mm/min. Those are manufacturer specifications; maximum speed and nominal spot size do not guarantee a particular level of detail, cutting speed, or finish on your material.

The page also advertises an enclosed design that meets Class 1 standards. That is a manufacturer statement, not an independently verified certification conclusion in the material reviewed here.

All three diode models share the same 100 × 100 mm work area. The 450 ± 5 nm wavelength is listed for the diode system. AlgoLaser’s beginner, hobby, and advanced labels are seller positioning, not independent testing.
Which power should you choose?
- 3W: suitable to consider for occasional, small engravings when speed and deeper cutting are not priorities.
- 5W: the middle option for regular hobby work, provided your designs and blanks fit the 100 × 100 mm area.
- 10W: the option to consider when you want more cutting headroom or expect to work more often; its larger listed spot is not a promise of finer detail.
Choose by material, desired cut depth, pace, and workpiece size rather than by the wattage label alone. Current price and package contents vary by selected power, color, market, and bundle, so check the exact regional configuration on the official listing before buying: AlgoLaser Pixi product page.
What can the Pixi engrave?
AlgoLaser lists engraving on paper, wood, leather, cardboard, stone, ceramics, and coated metal. It says transparent acrylic and glass require a colored backer or etching spray. These are published compatibility claims, not independent material tests; results depend on the stock, preparation, focus, speed, power, and number of passes.
Cutting claims need qualification
For the 10W model, AlgoLaser claims cutting up to 13 mm plywood and 20 mm pine. The product page does not provide independent test conditions, material grades, settings, or a quality standard for those figures, so treat them as seller claims rather than a guaranteed result for every sheet or project.

Bare metal versus coated metal
This is the most important material distinction. The 3W, 5W, and 10W diode listings specify coated metal. The product page identifies a separate 1.5W, 1064 nm infrared Pixi for bare and coated metal. If you need a mark directly on an uncoated alloy, compare that infrared variant and verify compatibility with your exact metal and the appearance you expect.
Is 100 × 100 mm enough?
The Pixi’s footprint is its defining limitation as well as its convenience. A 100 × 100 mm area suits jewelry-sized pieces, labels, small signs, patches, cards, ornaments, and other compact blanks. It will not accommodate a single large plaque or wide artwork without tiling or redesigning the job. Measure the usable area of every blank, including jigs and margins, before ordering.
Software, files, and the workflow
AlgoLaser lists the AlgoLaser App, LightBurn, and LaserGRBL as supported software. Listed file formats are JPG, SVG, PNG, BMP, G-code, and DWG. The product page also describes touchscreen AlgoOS functions for custom text, sketches, and over-the-air updates. These are published feature claims; no software workflow or setup time was independently tested.

AlgoLaser says its ARR rollers support cylindrical engraving in the X and Y directions. A roller is therefore relevant for bottles, tumblers, and other round objects, but you should verify the exact ARR model, diameter range, and bundle contents for your workpiece.

Bundle combinations shown by the manufacturer can include an ARR2.0 rotary roller, thermal paper, an aluminum business card, or the Pixi smoke purifier and filter. These items are not universal inclusions; confirm the selected package rather than assuming they ship with every Pixi.
Safety, enclosure, and smoke control
The AlgoLaser Pixi manual states: “The use of the laser engraver carries a significant risk of fire.” An enclosure or purifier does not remove that risk. Use materials appropriate for the laser, follow the manual’s precautions, supervise operation, and never treat filtration as permission to leave a job unattended.

A purifier and filter may be useful when your workspace needs smoke management, but the cited material does not establish its capture performance, filter life, or independent safety certification. Plan ventilation and safe placement around the actual material you intend to process.

Warranty and purchase checks
The manual states a 12-month limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, with exclusions including damage caused by misuse or abuse. The product page also advertises a one-year warranty. Terms can depend on the purchase platform and region, so confirm the current policy, support channel, and return conditions at checkout.
Who should buy the AlgoLaser Pixi?
A reasonable fit
- You make small engravings on wood, leather, paper, stone, ceramics, or coated-metal blanks.
- You want an enclosed machine and can work within 100 × 100 mm.
- You value compatibility with LightBurn or LaserGRBL and may add a rotary roller later.
- You are prepared to supervise laser work and follow fire-safety precautions.
Look elsewhere or choose another Pixi variant when
- Your projects routinely exceed 100 × 100 mm.
- You need direct marking on bare metal; compare the 1.5W 1064 nm infrared model instead.
- You require independently verified engraving, cutting, noise, reliability, or certification results.
- You expect every bundle to include a roller, purifier, or other accessory.
The AlgoLaser Pixi handles the basics on paper: compact enclosed construction, common file and software support, and a material range centered on small opaque blanks. Its practical value depends less on the headline wattage than on whether your projects fit the fixed work area, use the right metal type, and can be run safely under supervision.
