For a quick tooth fairy bag, fold a piece of craft felt into a pocket, glue the side edges, and decorate the front. Add a ribbon loop if you want to hang it by a bed or door. This no-sew pouch needs only a few materials; a flap bag or soft tooth fairy pillow are alternatives if you want a different shape.

Make a simple no-sew felt pouch
The quickest design is a flat pouch with a folded top flap. PBS KIDS for Parents demonstrates a no-sew tooth fairy pouch made with felt and hot glue. You can adapt its basic folded-pocket construction to the size you need.
Gather materials
- Craft felt for the pouch
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Optional: contrasting felt for a tooth decoration and an iron to sharpen the fold
Assemble the pouch
- Cut a rectangle of felt for the bag. Cut a small tooth shape from a contrasting color if you want a decoration.
- Fold the rectangle so the lower portion forms a pocket and the remaining top portion can fold over as a flap. Crease the fold; an iron can help make it easier to see.
- Run a narrow line of hot glue along the pocket’s two side edges, then press the sides together. Let the glue dry flat; a light, flat weight can help hold the felt in place if needed.
- Glue the felt tooth shape onto the front after the pouch has cooled and the seams have set.
For a hanging pouch, make a channel at the top by folding over a strip of felt and gluing its edges, leaving the ends open. Thread ribbon through the channel and tie or knot it to make a loop. Made With Happy shows a folded pouch with this ribbon-channel approach.

Choose a design that suits how you’ll use it

The simplest pouch uses fewer materials and steps. A flap closure adds shaping and embellishments, while a pillow also needs stuffing and either stitching supplies or glue. Pick the style based on where the tooth will be left and whether you want a flat bag or a soft pillow.
Make a flap bag with a measured pattern
Baker Ross’s example starts with a 12-by-9-inch felt sheet folded along its longer edge. Those dimensions belong to that pattern; they are not a standard size for tooth fairy bags.

- Gather felt, a ruler, scissors, a glue gun, and a pen.
- Fold the sheet along its longer edge and draw the guide line shown in the Baker Ross pattern.
- Glue the folded bottom and side edges to form the pouch, leaving the top open.
- Curve the flap, then add the loop, button, and tooth decoration as shown in the pattern.
Use the pattern’s measurements if you want to follow that design. For another size, make the pocket comfortably large enough to hold a tooth and, if desired, a small note or exchange item.
Make a soft tooth fairy pillow instead
If you want a pillow rather than a flat bag, the Oriental Trading tutorial by Meri Cherry uses felt panels, a small open pocket, and stuffing. Join the panels with a whip stitch, attach the pocket so its opening remains accessible, add stuffing, and stitch the remaining opening closed. The tutorial also presents hot glue as an alternative for joining the felt.

Keep the pocket open so the tooth can be placed inside. This design takes more assembly than a simple pouch, but it gives you a soft item to put under a child’s pillow.

- Baker Ross specifies adult supervision for its hot-glue activity. When children take part, have an adult handle the hot glue.
- Choose a pocket size that leaves room for the tooth and any small note or exchange item you plan to include.
