Eny Lee Parker’s new lighting collaboration with Lulu & Georgia draws on fine art, antique jewelry and organic forms—but its sconces are not meant to be arranged by a rulebook. “I don’t think everything needs to be perfectly symmetrical,” Parker says. Her approach: treat a fixture as a sculptural object, then place it where it creates a purposeful moment in the room.
How fine art and jewelry shaped the collection
Parker, a New York-based designer and ceramicist, told Domino that she often looks to fine art, old jewelry and small metal objects for inspiration rather than to other lighting or furniture. Renaissance still lifes and objects in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s archives informed the collection’s visual language: link chains, silver tones, hand-painted gestures and abstract forms, including a lily painting that influenced some of the shapes.
Those references become functional fixtures, not literal reproductions. The Rumi Cherry Lamp began with a vintage brooch, Parker said, while the Ara Pendant takes cues from the impression of a falling petal or fabric caught in motion. Elsewhere, chrome, organic silhouettes and petal-like forms give the range a playful, sculptural character. Homes & Gardens describes one wall sconce as resembling an overflowing cornucopia and highlights the reflective Almahdi sconces.
Why sconces do not have to be symmetrical
Symmetry can make a pair of sconces feel orderly, but Parker sees them as a way to compose smaller visual moments around a room. She suggests flanking a bed or mirror, or placing a single sconce somewhere unexpected. It could even sit in the center of a wall like a gallery artwork, she told Homes & Gardens.

That freedom works best when the placement feels intentional. A lone fixture can anchor a wall, while a pair can frame a headboard or mirror without requiring every other object in the room to mirror it. The key is to consider the fixture’s silhouette as part of the composition, not just as a point of light.
How to incorporate a statement fixture
For Parker, lighting belongs in the design conversation early, not as a finishing touch. “Stop thinking of lighting as something you figure out at the very end. Start with it earlier in the design process and let it inform the room,” she says.

That means choosing a fixture with the room’s materials, shapes and focal points in mind. A sculptural pendant or chandelier can introduce contrast; an expressive sconce can give an otherwise quiet wall a focal point. Parker told Domino, “I love when a room has a little tension between pieces.” The aim is not to make every object compete, but to let the light add a distinct shape or material note.

“Lighting is probably my favorite category to design. I love that it can completely change the character of a room without taking it over,” Parker told Domino. She likes combining different kinds of light so a room can shift with the time of day and what people are doing there.

Her view also treats a lamp as an object when it is switched off: “I definitely think about lighting as an object even when it’s not illuminated. Lighting is the jewelry of a space, so the materiality and silhouette are important on their own.” A table lamp, floor lamp, pendant and wall light can each contribute a different shape and role; the combination need not rely on matching fixtures to feel considered.
