“Square Scramble” can refer to two different digital games: Ferridian’s board-filling puzzle or Plasma Studios’ local multiplayer minigame fighter. If you mean a word game or a physical puzzle, those are separate products too. The developer or format is the quickest way to identify the one you’re looking for.
Which Square Scramble game is this?
The two exact-title digital listings describe different games, not versions of one shared game. Ferridian’s is a turn-based board-filling puzzle; Plasma Studios’ is a local multiplayer game built around fighting minigames. Their mechanics and player counts are not interchangeable.
| Title and developer | Format and core mechanic | Players and availability stated by listing |
|---|---|---|
| Square Scramble by Ferridian | Move small squares to fill the board black; delete one of your own blocks at the end of each turn. | Player count not stated. Listing reports HTML5, Windows, macOS, and Linux. |
| Square Scramble by Plasma Studios | Local fighting minigames, including knocking rivals off-screen and surviving on platforms. | One to two players; HTML5. |
These descriptions come from the games’ itch.io listings. The listing pages were not directly retrievable, so the mechanics and platform details here are listing information, not independently tested gameplay. Ferridian’s listing · Plasma Studios’ listing
How do you play Square Scramble by Ferridian?
Ferridian’s listing describes a puzzle in which you move tiny squares using W, A, S, and D, then remove one of your own blocks at the end of each turn. The stated objective is to fill the whole grid with black. The listing also notes a bug: moving quickly can cause pieces to bunch together. Because this is a reported listing detail rather than a verified test, treat it as a caveat, not a guaranteed outcome on every platform. Ferridian’s Square Scramble listing

Is Square Scramble a two-player game?
Only the Plasma Studios listing describes local multiplayer: it specifies one to two players. Its three listed modes are:
- Square Scuffle: knock the other player off-screen across different maps.
- Boss Battle: survive longer than the other player.
- Platform Panic: stay on platforms longer than the other player.
The itch.io listing gives August 26, 2019 as the release date. It also estimates a session at about half an hour; that is publisher-provided metadata, not a playtest result. Plasma Studios’ Square Scramble listing

What about Word Square Scramble and other similarly named puzzles?
Word Square Scramble
Word Square Scramble by Prolixteriat is a separate Android app, not either exact-title game. Google Play describes a word-square puzzle: words form a square grid and can be read horizontally and vertically. Players slide letter tiles to solve randomly generated boards. Correct words in rows change colour as feedback, but the listing warns that a coloured word may not yet be in the correct row. Google Play showed an update date of July 22, 2026 and 100+ downloads when inspected. Its statements that the developer reports collecting and sharing no data are store-declared privacy details, not an independent audit. Word Square Scramble on Google Play
Scramble Squares
Scramble Squares is a separately branded physical matching puzzle, not a digital Square Scramble game. Its official site says players arrange nine illustrated square pieces into a 12-inch square, matching the graphics along every edge. The site lists more than 160 designs across subjects including nature, geography, history, hobbies, and sports. Official Scramble Squares site

- SCRABBLE CARD GAME: Slam is a little different than the traditional game of Scrabble. Slam is very fast-paced and everyone can play at once
- THE PLAY: Choose a 4 letter word to start play then deal out the remaining cards as evenly as possible. When everyone is ready - the action begins. Any player can play 1 letter card on top of the cards on the table to make a new word. For example: "CAKE" becomes "BAKE" which is turned into "BIKE" then switched to "LIKE" and so on
- THE WIN: Players continue placing cards as quickly as possible forming new words until someone plays their last card for the win
- TRAVEL SIZED: It's a card game - of course you can fit it into your carry-on or even a purse
- QUICK GAMEPLAY: Given that game play is very fast paced and goes by quickly, Scrabble Slam works well in between longer gaming campaigns on game night
Classroom and quilting uses
“Square Scramble” also appears in Lone Star Learning catalog results for classroom review products, including multiplication practice. The available catalog-result evidence does not establish current stock or commercial terms. AllPeopleQuilt uses the name for a sewing pattern by Kate Colleran: a table runner finished at 14½ by 50½ inches and two place mats finished at 14½ by 19½ inches. Neither is one of the digital games.
