“Renewable energy template” can mean an editable slide deck or a technical planning resource. This guide distinguishes the two: use a presentation template to explain an idea, and use tools or project-specific guidance to analyze or manage the work. A slide deck is a communication aid, not a validated engineering, regulatory, or investment framework.
Choose the kind of renewable energy template you need
| Resource | Best suited to | What it provides | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Presentation template | Explaining a renewable-energy topic to an audience | Editable slides and visual elements such as charts, maps, tables, timelines, and mockups; the Slidesgo listing describes PowerPoint and Google Slides support and a Canva download option. Check the current listing for available formats and terms. | A polished layout does not validate the figures, assumptions, design, or recommendations in the presentation. |
| Implementation plan | Turning a strategy into assigned work | Project actions, schedule, budget, investment plan, staffing, and named responsibilities. | NREL’s cited lessons-learned report concerns large-scale renewable-energy projects at U.S. Department of Defense installations, not every type of project. Read the report. |
| AVERT analysis | Estimating emissions impacts of specified energy programs | An Excel-based platform that estimates impacts from energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric-vehicle, and energy-storage programs against a historical base year. See EPA’s AVERT information. | For modeling against user-created future years, EPA provides a separate future-year scenario template used with the statistical file; it is not a general project-management form. Check the tool and data materials. |
| BOEM offshore assessment guidance | Understanding renewable-energy activities on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf | Guidance organized around planning, leasing, site assessment, and construction and operations; site-assessment material includes a sample metocean buoy template. See BOEM’s renewable-energy program information. | The sample is for a specific offshore site-assessment use, not a universal renewable-energy project form. |
Find and adapt a presentation template
If your goal is a presentation, start with a slide deck whose visual structure fits the audience and purpose. A template can save time on layout; it cannot supply reliable project data or make a technical claim sounder.
Check the format and terms
The Slidesgo listing describes editable graphics, PowerPoint and Google Slides support, and a Canva download option. Availability, included formats, and use or attribution requirements can change, so review the live listing before choosing or distributing a deck. Do not assume an option is free or that attribution is unnecessary unless the current terms say so.

Adapt the slides to the decision
- For an overview: use a small number of slides to explain the technology, project location, and intended outcome.
- For a proposal: distinguish confirmed information from estimates, and identify the assumptions behind costs, timing, and expected benefits.
- For a technical audience: include the method, data sources, units, and limitations alongside charts or maps. Have qualified reviewers check technical content; a template itself is not a review.
- For a public audience: define unfamiliar terms and label comparisons clearly, including the time period and geographic scope.
Turn a strategy into an implementation plan
A strategy describes direction; an implementation plan makes the work assignable. NREL’s lessons-learned report on large-scale renewable-energy projects at U.S. Department of Defense installations recommends going beyond strategy to an action plan. Use the following elements as a practical starting point, while tailoring them to the project and its governing requirements.
- Actions: define the work needed to move each strategic objective forward.
- Schedule: identify sequencing, milestones, and timing.
- Budget and investment plan: record expected costs and how investment decisions will be handled.
- Staffing: identify the people or capabilities needed to perform the work.
- Responsibilities: assign an owner to each action so accountability is explicit.

Estimating program emissions impacts with EPA AVERT
EPA describes AVERT as an Excel-based tool for estimating emissions impacts from energy-efficiency, renewable-energy, electric-vehicle, and energy-storage programs relative to a historical base year. If the analysis instead needs user-created future years, EPA’s separate future-year scenario template is used with the statistical file. These tools address emissions-impact analysis; they do not replace a project schedule, budget, or engineering assessment.

Assessing offshore renewable-energy activity with BOEM guidance
BOEM’s guidance applies to renewable-energy activities on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf. Its program phases are planning, leasing, site assessment, and construction and operations. A sample template appears in site-assessment guidance for metocean buoys, so use it only if that specific activity and context fit—not as a general form for land-based or other offshore projects.

When a presentation or plan makes a green-power claim, explain who holds the environmental attributes associated with the electricity. Renewable energy certificates (RECs) can represent those attributes; whether the organization retains the relevant rights matters to what it can claim. State the arrangement and avoid implying that purchasing electricity alone establishes a renewable-energy claim when the attributes have been transferred or sold. EPA explains renewable energy certificates.
