Three Kings is a 1999 Warner Bros. film directed by David O. Russell. Set just after the 1991 Gulf War, it follows American soldiers who set out to seize Kuwaiti gold looted by Iraq, then face a moral choice as they encounter Iraqi civilians in danger. Yale University Library’s film record and Apple TV’s catalog entry identify the film and its premise.
What is Three Kings about?
The film begins with a treasure hunt. After the Gulf War, a group of American soldiers discovers a map that points to gold taken from Kuwait by Saddam Hussein’s forces. They plan to find it near their Iraqi desert base and go home wealthy. The scheme changes when the soldiers encounter Iraqi civilians facing violence and must decide whether to keep pursuing the gold or help them.
Yale University Library characterizes the film as a Gulf War heist story and credits John Ridley with the story. Apple TV likewise describes soldiers plotting to steal hidden gold at the war’s end. Together, those descriptions capture its shift from an adventure premise to a conflict over responsibility and the consequences of war.

Is Three Kings a film or the holiday?
The name is ambiguous. Three Kings may refer to Russell’s 1999 war film, while Three Kings Day—also called Epiphany—is a Christian feast and holiday. This article is about the film; a question about the holiday needs a different answer.

The cited film records establish the movie’s identity and distributor, but they do not establish current streaming availability or the availability of a particular DVD edition. Apple TV’s catalog page identifies the film; a catalog entry alone does not confirm that it can currently be watched in a given country.
