A strong travel logo starts with the experience your agency promises—not with a plane icon. Define who you serve and what kind of trips you arrange, then create a mark that communicates that promise, stands apart from familiar travel imagery, and remains clear wherever customers see it.
What should a travel logo communicate?
Your logo should express a real choice about your agency: its audience, trip type, service model, and personality. A specialist in guided cultural tours may need to signal something different from an agency arranging family beach holidays or bespoke business travel. Write down those basics before choosing a symbol, typeface, or color.
Use the promise as a test for each concept: would a prospective customer get a useful impression of the agency, and could another agency make the same claim with the same mark? A logo is one part of a brand, not a substitute for clear service and consistent customer experience.

Planes, globes, palm trees, waves, compasses, and suitcases are recognizable travel cues, but their familiarity can make agencies look alike. A design guide from Wilogo identifies these as common motifs. You can still use one if its treatment is specific to your agency and recognizable beyond the generic category symbol.
#1 Best Overall
Generate a small set of concepts from your audience and promise rather than combining several stock symbols. Compare the options for:
- Distinctiveness: Does the mark feel identifiable as your agency rather than a generic travel service?
- Relevance: Does it fit the trips and service you actually offer?
- Legibility: Can people recognize its shapes and any lettering at the smallest size where it will appear?
- Adaptability: Does it work across digital and print uses, including a compact profile image?
- Reproducibility: Can it be used consistently without delicate details disappearing or becoming difficult to reproduce?
No single style, color, or typeface is established as best for every travel agency. Choose based on the promise and practical uses of your own identity.

How should you test a logo before approving it?
- List the use cases. Note where the logo will appear and identify the smallest expected display size.
- Sketch a few directions. Start with the audience, trip type, service model, and personality you wrote down; avoid adding imagery simply because it is travel-related.
- Check it small and in monochrome. Make sure the basic shape remains recognizable when reduced and when color is unavailable.
- Check contrast and reproduction. Look for details that merge, vanish, or become hard to reproduce in the contexts you plan to use.
- Document the approved versions and usage rules. Keep the chosen artwork and practical guidance together so the mark is applied consistently.
These are practical design checks, not a universal certification or a guarantee that a logo will perform equally well in every context.

Yes, for Google’s Transport Features integration specifically. Google requires a square SVG logo with a 1:1 aspect ratio and a maximum file size of 10 KB. It recommends a simple mark that remains visible at small sizes; the full company name is not required. These are platform submission requirements, not rules for every travel logo or every Google product. See Google’s Transport Features brand guidance, updated 2026-03-30 UTC, and recheck it before submitting because platform specifications can change.

Can you use another company’s travel logo?
Follow the logo owner’s official instructions rather than copying or modifying a mark based on general design advice. For its own logo, Travelport says not to recreate or alter the custom mark and sets an exclusion zone equal to the diameter of its symbol roundel. That measurement applies to Travelport’s mark only; it is not a general clear-space rule for other brands. Consult Travelport’s brand guidelines for its instructions.

That depends on your goals and the jurisdictions where you operate. WIPO describes destination branding as including trademarks such as registered logos and taglines, and explains that intellectual-property rights can support recognition, competitive advantage, and licensing. This is general tourism context, not a guarantee that registration is required, available, or protective in every market. See WIPO’s overview of destination branding and intellectual property.
For a US special-form trademark application, the USPTO requires a high-quality depiction and an accurate, concise description of the mark’s text and design elements; describe color placement when relevant. Its current instructions also specify image-file requirements. These are US filing rules, not worldwide requirements, and do not replace advice about a particular mark or application. Check the USPTO’s trademark drawing requirements before filing.
