Custom playing card boxes are made to fit a specific deck—not a universal “standard” size. Before choosing a tuck box, rigid box, or sleeve, confirm the finished card dimensions, deck count, card stock and total stack thickness, plus whether the cards will be sleeved. Then work from the box maker’s current dieline and proof.
Choose a box for the deck you are making
A folded tuck box is a familiar, compact option. Other suppliers offer formats such as sleeves or slipcases and rigid two-piece boxes. These are available packaging choices, not a proven quality ranking: compare the actual structure, closure, dimensions, intended use and quoted price for your project.
Board and finish options vary by supplier and format. Published catalogs may include paperboard or card stock, kraft, corrugated or rigid stock, with finishes such as matte or gloss coating, spot UV, foil and embossing. Ask which material-and-finish combinations are available for your chosen box and order quantity.
Measure the cards and specify the fit
- Measure the finished cards. Record width and height, rather than relying on a generic poker- or bridge-box label.
- Set the deck count and stock. The total stack thickness depends on the number of cards and the stock. MakePlayingCards says to select its tuck-box template according to card stock and card count; its template guidance is specific to its products.
- Account for sleeves and inserts. Tell the supplier whether cards will be sleeved and whether the package needs room for inserts or other components.
- Request the matching dieline or template. Have the supplier confirm the finished internal fit and any clearance in its dieline or proof. Do not add a guessed allowance to the dimensions.
One example is LongPack Games’ 2025 artwork guideline: it shows a 66 × 92 × 20 mm tuck box for 63.5 × 88.9 mm cards in a 54-card deck. That is one manufacturer’s example, not a universal sizing rule. See LongPack’s 2025 artwork guidelines.

Compare suppliers by the details that affect your order
These examples illustrate different supplier offerings; they are not like-for-like quotes or an independent ranking. Specifications and schedules are company-published claims and can change, so confirm them for your exact job.

Prepare artwork from the supplier’s template
Start with the current dieline for the selected box, not a template found for a similar-looking deck. MakePlayingCards describes a workflow of downloading a template for a common card size and deck count, placing artwork in design software, then uploading it. Its separate page describes handling some nonstandard requirements—such as custom card sizes, shapes, counts, foil, embossing, materials and packaging arrangements—but availability depends on the product and should be confirmed with the provider.
Before designing, ask the supplier for its current dieline and written artwork requirements. Confirm bleed, safe areas, accepted file formats and color expectations. Request a proof, clarify how revisions work, and do not approve production until you have checked that the artwork and physical fit match the agreed specifications.

Get the quote and schedule in writing
Ask each supplier for a quote based on the same complete specification so the totals and timelines are comparable. Include the card dimensions, stock, count, sleeve or insert details, box structure, material, print coverage and requested finishes.
- Minimum order quantity and unit price at your intended quantity.
- Proof type, revision process and any charges.
- When production begins—for example, on artwork approval or another stated milestone.
- Production estimate, shipping method and transit estimate, stated separately.
- Shipping charges and total delivered price.
- Current dieline and confirmation of fit for the specified deck.
Published lead times and minimums are supplier-specific claims. Get the current terms and delivery estimate for your destination in the quote rather than treating a website figure as a promise.

When a blank box is enough
Blank playing-card tuck boxes may suit a prototype or a DIY project, but a blank box is not the same as a full-color custom-printed box. Check the blank product’s dimensions against your finished deck before buying; no particular listing, current stock or price is established here.
