Roomeon is a desktop 3D room planner for sketching a room, furnishing it with catalog objects, and viewing the layout from different angles. Its documentation describes a practical workflow: draw or trace a floor plan, set dimensions, furnish the room, adjust lighting, and save or share views. The important caveat is compatibility: Roomeon’s download page lists version 1.6.2 and operating systems from an earlier era, so its ability to run on a current computer is not established.
What Roomeon does
Roomeon describes its planner as a drag-and-drop tool for designing rooms in three dimensions. Its company page identifies interior designers, architects, and other people planning rooms as its intended users. The feature documentation covers floor-plan drawing, room templates, object placement, lighting, navigation, and presentation. Roomeon’s homepage and company page describe the product and its audience.
The catalog is described as containing real products and specifications. That makes it useful as a route from layout planning to thinking about furniture, but the documentation does not establish which products, merchants, or listings are available today.

How do I use Roomeon to plan a room?
- Start with a room shape. Choose a template, draw the floor plan, or load an existing plan image as a background and trace it. Roomeon’s feature page describes these options. See Roomeon’s feature documentation.
- Set dimensions and wall properties. Use grid alignment or enter wall values in the wall options. Roomeon documents grid choices of 25 cm, 50 cm, and 1 m; the page does not state when those choices were published. Its FAQ warns that wall lengths in wall options are measured center-to-center, while the floor-plan view shows the interior dimension. Check Roomeon’s FAQ before relying on a measurement.
- Switch to 3D and furnish the room. Drag catalog objects into the room, then move, rotate, or scale them to explore arrangements. The feature page describes free-angle, person-level, and bird’s-eye views for inspecting the plan.
- Adjust lighting and surfaces. Roomeon says its planner lets users alter lighting and that rendering reduces gloss while the user moves, then returns to higher quality when stationary. Those are vendor-described behaviors, not independently verified performance claims.
- Capture or share the result. The feature page describes screenshots from the 3D view and floor plan, as well as publishing designs to the Roomeon community.
A room must form a closed chain of walls to become a 3D room, according to the FAQ. If the wall outline is unfinished, Roomeon says it closes the chain automatically when switching to 3D mode; this may explain an unexpected wall in the first 3D view.
Can I design a floor plan and see it in 3D?
Yes. Roomeon’s documented workflow connects a drawn or traced floor plan with a 3D view of the room. The feature page lists free-angle, person-level, and bird’s-eye viewpoints, so you can inspect both the overall arrangement and the room from a human-height perspective. It also describes moving, rotating, and scaling placed objects. These are documented features; they do not establish how well the software performs on a particular computer.

Is Roomeon free?
Roomeon’s homepage says personal use is free and that visitors can try the planner without signing up. Its FAQ says users can log in as guests, but saving projects requires free registration. The FAQ lists 10 project slots for registered users; it does not state when that limit was last updated. In short, free personal use does not mean saving without an account.
How do I save my Roomeon project?
According to the FAQ, Roomeon saves the current project to the user’s computer every 60 seconds, and this local recovery option applies only to the last project worked on. The feature page separately describes online project storage accessible through an account from computers with the planner installed. Neither description amounts to a guarantee that every project is backed up or recoverable.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can I use Roomeon on my computer?
Roomeon’s download page lists 3D-Planner version 1.6.2, but does not give a release date. The operating systems it lists are Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8, plus Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 beta. These are the page’s listed systems, not confirmation of support for modern versions of Windows or macOS. Review the official download page and verify both compatibility and safe installer availability before depending on the program.

- More than 1,200 new 3D objects for house and garden
- 2D and 3D views for a realistic Impression
- Furnishing the living room, designing the bathroom, designing the children's room or perfecting the home Office
The same download page recommends legacy-era hardware, including a Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion 64 X2 processor, 2 GB of memory, and GeForce 8- or ATI HD2000-class graphics. Those specifications are historical context, not current buying advice. Roomeon’s help page warns that computers without 3D support or with older graphics drivers may display only a rudimentary view. Read Roomeon’s graphics help.
The official pages reviewed do not establish whether Roomeon is actively maintained, whether its online features still work fully, or whether the installer runs on current systems. The official 1.6 release article is about twelve years old according to the search index, and the download page surfaced version 1.6.2 rather than evidence of a newer release. The 1.6 release article provides historical context, not a current support guarantee.

Once the layout is drawn, check the real room’s usable dimensions before choosing furniture. Pay particular attention to the difference between interior dimensions and center-to-center wall measurements when reading values in Roomeon. Then compare those measurements with the furniture dimensions you are considering. The catalog’s description of real products and specifications may help guide that step, but the official pages do not verify a current listing or seller. For a living room, for example, compare sofa and chair dimensions against the planned wall lengths and clearances rather than treating an on-screen fit as proof that a piece will fit in the actual room.
