Affinity 2.6.2 was a historical maintenance release for the separate Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Designer 2, and Affinity Publisher 2 applications. It was not one combined V2 program, and it is no longer the newest V2 build: Affinity later released 2.6.3. The current Canva-era Affinity product is a separate, unified application with different licensing and account arrangements.
For anyone maintaining an older painting, illustration, or publishing workflow, 2.6.2 matters mainly as a reproducible legacy environment. For a new installation, compare it with the latest compatible V2 build—or with the current Affinity product—before choosing an installer.
What “Affinity Suite 2.6.2” actually means
“Affinity Suite 2.6.2” is convenient shorthand for three related V2 applications:

- Affinity Photo 2: raster editing, RAW development, retouching, compositing, and image correction.
- Affinity Designer 2: vector illustration, branding, drawing, and design work.
- Affinity Publisher 2: page layout for brochures, books, magazines, portfolios, and other long documents.
They remained separate applications with separate licensing arrangements, although Publisher’s StudioLink could expose Photo and Designer toolsets within a Publisher workflow. StudioLink did not turn the three programs into one executable.

The release was also platform-specific. Windows, macOS, and iPadOS builds were distributed and announced independently; the existence or behavior of one build should not be assumed for every app and operating system. For example, Affinity published separate announcements for Publisher 2.6.2 for macOS and Designer 2.6.2 for iPad.
What changed in version 2.6.2?
Version 2.6.2 was primarily a bug-fix and stability update following versions 2.6.0 and 2.6.1, rather than a new product generation. Affinity’s beta announcement described the goal as addressing critical issues found in those releases and referred to a documented list of issues in the beta material: official 2.6.2 beta announcement.
Because the fixes were not identical across applications and platforms, a single unqualified list is misleading. A macOS Publisher correction is not automatically a Photo, Designer, Windows, or iPad correction. Use the relevant official release notes or FAQ for the exact build you maintain:

Keep beta build information separate from final retail release information. A fix mentioned during beta testing should not be treated as guaranteed in the final build unless the final release documentation confirms it. Forum-reported problems can be useful troubleshooting evidence, but they are not automatically official release guarantees.
Affinity Photo 2.6.2
Photo was the V2 application for painting over raster images, developing RAW files, retouching, compositing, and preparing image assets. Anyone maintaining a Photo 2.6.2 installation should record the operating system and distribution channel alongside the application version.
Before upgrading or reverting, test a copy of a representative file. Check brushes, fonts, linked resources, color profiles, plug-ins, GPU behavior, and final exports. A version change can expose a missing resource or plug-in problem that is not itself a software defect.
Affinity Designer 2.6.2
Designer handled vector illustration, logos, icons, lettering, and mixed vector-raster artwork. For a legacy illustration workflow, verify SVG and PDF import/export, embedded or linked documents, font substitution, transparency, artboards, and print output after changing builds.
iPadOS releases were handled independently from desktop releases. The official Designer for iPad 2.6.2 announcement is therefore more relevant to an iPad installation than a Windows or macOS release notice.
Affinity Publisher 2.6.2
Publisher was the V2 page-layout application for books, brochures, magazines, portfolios, and other publication documents. StudioLink allowed users with the relevant applications to access Photo and Designer capabilities from within Publisher, but those capabilities did not make Publisher itself identical to Photo or Designer.
One common point of confusion: Liquify Persona belongs to Affinity Photo, not Publisher as an independent feature. The relevant Photo documentation is the official Liquify Persona help page.
For the macOS release, Affinity’s instructions differed according to purchase channel. The Publisher 2.6.2 announcement explains those paths.

How to check whether you have 2.6.2
- Open Affinity Photo, Designer, or Publisher.
- Open the application menu.
- Choose About [application]. On macOS, for example, Publisher uses Affinity Publisher > About.
- Record the full version and build number shown in the dialog.
- Record whether the installation came from the Affinity Store, Microsoft Store, Mac App Store, or iPad App Store.
The version may also appear on the splash screen. Recording both the build number and store channel is important when diagnosing an update or license problem.

How existing customers updated
Affinity Store purchase
Open the application and let it check for updates, or use its Check for Updates command when available. Alternatively, sign in to the Affinity Store account associated with the purchase and download the installer listed for that order.
Mac App Store purchase
Update through the Mac App Store rather than installing an Affinity Store package. If the update does not appear, open the store’s Updates area and reload it with Store > Reload Page or Command-R, as recommended in Affinity’s instructions.
Microsoft Store purchase
Use the Microsoft Store to update a Windows Store installation. Do not assume that an Affinity Store MSI or EXE installer will preserve the same entitlement or installation behavior.
iPad purchase
Update through the Apple App Store. iPad applications were distributed independently, so update Photo, Designer, or Publisher from the store listing for that particular app.
Do not mix installers casually. An installer from one channel may not be interchangeable with an installation or license obtained through another. In particular, the official macOS announcement states that its Affinity Store installer is not intended for Mac App Store purchases.
Can you still download Affinity 2.6.2?
Affinity’s V2 download FAQ explained that current and previous desktop versions could be provided through direct download links. It also noted that arbitrary previous versions were generally not selectable through the Microsoft Store, Mac App Store, or other App Store channels, and that a direct-download build could require the corresponding Affinity Store entitlement.

That does not guarantee that every 2.6.2 archive remains available in 2026. Links, account portals, and platform policies can change. Use an official Affinity or Canva download page or account portal, and avoid third-party mirrors that may provide altered, incomplete, or outdated installers. Do not promise a specific archived download unless the official link is working when the article is published.
2.6.2 versus later V2 builds and current Affinity
Affinity later announced version 2.6.3 for Photo, Designer, and Publisher across supported platforms, describing it as addressing issues found in 2.6.2 and subsequent beta builds. Therefore, 2.6.2 should not be presented as the final or latest V2 release. See the official Affinity staff release information at this forum post listing.

Canva describes the current Affinity as a new product combining photo editing, vector design, and page-layout tools in one app, and says it is free for everyone: Canva’s announcement. This is not the same product architecture as the three-app V2 suite. Current platform availability, account requirements, and feature eligibility should be checked on the live product page.
The announcement also says Canva AI features such as Generative Fill, Expand & Edit, and Remove Background are available to users with Canva premium access. Readers who need those features should check the current Canva pricing page rather than rely on an old printed price.

- Back up the original project, linked images, fonts, brushes, macros, and plug-in installers.
- Export a known-good PDF or other final output before changing versions.
- Write down the current app version, build number, operating system, and store channel.
- Install through the same channel used for the purchase.
- Open a copy of the project and inspect fonts, links, color profiles, layers, StudioLink behavior, and export settings.
- If installation fails, first verify the account entitlement, store channel, system compatibility, disk space, and store cache. Uninstalling should not be the first response.
- If reverting, use only an official archived installer and keep newer applications and documents separate.
Do not assume that V2 documents, macros, plug-ins, or workflows are perfectly interchangeable with the current Affinity product. Test copies first and retain the original files.

Is Affinity 2.6.2 free?
Updates within the Affinity V2 product line were provided to existing customers without requiring a new V2 license. That historical arrangement should not be confused with the current Affinity product’s separate Canva-era licensing.

Is 2.6.2 the latest Affinity version?
No. It was later followed by V2.6.3, and the current Affinity product is a separate Canva-era application.
Can I install 2.6.2 from an App Store?
App Store channels generally control which versions they offer. For a specific historical desktop build, availability may be limited to an official direct-download archive and the entitlement associated with that purchase channel.
Can I open V2 files in the current Affinity app?
Do not assume complete compatibility. Open a copy and test documents, fonts, linked assets, macros, plug-ins, color settings, and exports before moving a production workflow.
Can I use 2.6.2 offline?
Offline behavior depends on the installation channel, license validation, and the operation being performed. Check the entitlement and activation requirements for your specific build rather than assuming that legacy V2 and current Affinity work identically.
What should I do before downgrading?
Back up projects and resources, record the current build and store channel, preserve a known-good export, and obtain the older installer only from an official source.
