American Patchwork & Quilting’s August 2022 issue is a quilt magazine with projects ranging from full quilts to small home and sewing-room pieces. Its official issue page lists 17 feature entries, including a profile of designer Jen Kingwell. The issue’s original on-sale period was June 3 through August 5, 2022; that window does not establish current availability.
What’s in the August 2022 issue?
The issue brings together quilts, alternate project formats, and a designer profile. The listed work explores scrappy fabric, star blocks, color and contrast, hand piecing, machine quilting, and decorative texture. The descriptions below reflect the projects identified on the official issue page; they do not establish pattern dimensions, yardage, or skill ratings.

- A Fine View by Anna Dineen uses two blocks that twist and turn to suggest summer blooms. A smaller tester version uses jewel-tone-on-tone fabrics, light background prints, and a solid black border.
- Summer Sunrise by Vicki Ruebel pairs solid rainbow colors, including some metallics, with machine quilting. Its color option adapts a single block and border into a table topper.
- Just a Touch by Jane M. Buys is a hand-pieced miniature showcasing Six-Pointed Star blocks. The alternate project is a portable sewing caddy with scrappy Star blocks.
- Star Silhouettes by Diane Harris plays with contrast and scraps. Its tabletop version uses 64 blocks and a navy border, with 19th-century reproduction prints suggested as a visual direction.
- Heartwarming by Corey Yoder features pieced hearts and floral scallops. A matching place-setting project includes a placemat and coaster.
- Splash of Color by Charisma Horton sets colorful units against black, white, and gray. Its two-block throw option uses assorted plaid and check flannels.
- American Classic by Jody Sanders sets one block on point. A smaller lap quilt or throw option uses 12 Shoofly Variation blocks and a border.
Accessories and profile
- Sew in Style: Enamel Pin Banner by Lindsay Mayland is an easy-to-sew quilted banner for displaying enamel pins. The listed fabric is Melody Miller’s Spark collection for Ruby Star Society.
- All in the Details by Sharon Holland uses chenille ribbon embellishments to add dimension and texture to a throw pillow.
- Jen Kingwell Profile introduces the Australian fabric and pattern designer, whom the magazine describes as known for unconventional fabric combinations and scrappy projects. The profile also notes a book combining stitching and baking.
A retailer’s summary additionally mentions quilt washing and care advice, modern throws, and scrappy stash-busting star quilts. That is a retailer-level description rather than a detailed account of the magazine’s care instructions.
How to choose a project from the issue
The listed projects suit different goals, but the feature summaries do not provide enough information to compare finished dimensions, time, or difficulty. Use the project format and stated construction or fabric approach as a starting point, then consult the pattern itself for measurements and requirements.

Availability and issue details
The official issue page gives the original sale dates as June 3–August 5, 2022. The APQ Shop has listed the exact back issue, while Missouri Star’s listing identified the issue and showed its copy as sold out. Those listings do not establish present stock at every seller; check the seller’s current page before ordering. Search using the full title, American Patchwork & Quilting August 2022, to distinguish the magazine issue from an individual pattern.
