American Patchwork & Quilting’s October 2025 issue is an autumn-and-Halloween collection built around 12 featured projects, a domestic-machine free-motion quilting lesson, the opening blocks of the Points of Interest block of the month, and a jelly-roll design challenge. The issue originally went on sale August 15 through October 17, 2025; the publisher’s shop displayed the single issue at $9.99 on September 30, 2026.
What is in the October 2025 issue?
The official issue page lists quilts and smaller projects by multiple designers, plus web-exclusive or companion downloads. A listing on the page does not necessarily mean the complete pattern is freely available online; some instructions are in the print magazine.

Points of Interest is Lori Miller’s 10-block quilt, released as two manageable blocks per installment. The planned finished quilt is 64½ × 80½ inches, with 8-inch finished blocks. Blue and green fabrics from Sandy Gervais’s Texture collection for Riley Blake Designs create the impression of one large block. Instructions accommodate both rotary cutting and die cutting.

The companion page explains that patterns appear in the magazine first and move online as free downloads after the relevant issue is off sale. It provides the October blocks and an EQ8 project download for previewing fabric choices and estimating yardage. Any software discount or other offer on that page should be checked for current terms. Visit the official Points of Interest page for downloads and schedule details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing a project by size and technique
Choose among bed-sized or large throws, compact seasonal décor and practical gifts:
- For a large statement quilt: Points of Interest finishes at 64½ × 80½ inches; Autumn Medley is listed at 84½ inches square; Vibrant Autumn is an oversize throw.
- For Halloween decorating: Spooky Spokes, Golden Hour’s Witches’ Hats, and the door-banner or table-topper variations keep the commitment smaller.
- For gifts and utility projects: Turning Leaves offers a pillow variation, Scrappy Churndash can become trick-or-treat bags, and Picking Pumpkins includes table runners.
- For specific construction practice: try Courthouse Steps in Picking Pumpkins, hourglass and Flying Geese units in Autumn Medley, star-and-acorn piecing in Just a Bunch of Acorns, eight-at-a-time triangle-squares in Scrappy Churndash, or the one-block tessellation of Golden Hour.
- For precuts or machine quilting: the jelly-roll challenge centers on one precut strip set, while Lesson #4 focuses on free-motion work on a domestic sewing machine.
Fabric, tools and palette considerations
Autumn oranges, pumpkin tones, acorns, leaves and Halloween prints dominate the issue, but several designs include alternate palettes: two-color Sew Stars, a batik-star Caramel Apple, tonal Enchanted Evening, and the blue-green Texture fabrics for Points of Interest. The issue names fabric collections and designers, but current stock was not established; check retailers before substituting or planning a kit.
Expect to use a rotary cutter, rulers and quilting thread for most projects. Points of Interest also supports die cutting. The free-motion lesson assumes a domestic sewing machine; practice on a quilt sandwich before quilting a finished top.
How to obtain the issue
The original sale window ended October 17, 2025. The official shop’s magazines category displayed the October 2025 single issue for $9.99 on September 30, 2026; that is a time-sensitive listing, so confirm stock and price at checkout. Use the American Patchwork & Quilting shop rather than assuming third-party listings or affiliate availability. Selected web-exclusive and companion patterns are linked from the publisher’s pages, while other complete patterns remain print-issue content.
