Auscraft Services Group offers epoxy floor coating in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Its published figures are useful starting points, but they are not a binding quote for an unseen slab: the company gives separate rough estimates for a double garage and a per-square-metre rate for areas over 200 m². Preparation, repairs, moisture, existing coatings, finish selection and access can materially change the final price.
Auscraft’s published epoxy prices
The figures below come from Auscraft’s undated service pages. Treat them as the company’s advertised estimates, not an independently verified market average or a current offer for every property.

| Published figure | What it covers | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $2,600 plus GST | Rough estimate to prepare and seal a double-car garage in Melbourne metro | Garage size, slab condition, access and chosen system must be confirmed in writing |
| About $2,900 plus GST | Rough estimate for the same stated garage scope in regional Victoria | Regional location is a broad category; travel, access and preparation may alter the quote |
| $60 plus GST per m² | Epoxy areas larger than 200 m² | The homepage says preparation, minor repairs, materials and labour are included; confirm the measured area and complete scope |
| $3,900–$4,900 plus GST | Preparation, repair and sealing for a similar-sized Beaumaris garage project | A project example whose range depended on grinding and repair work, not a general price promise |
| $30–$35 per m² for basic epoxy | National guide range from hipages’ 2026 cost guide | Third-party guidance; it is not a like-for-like comparison with Auscraft’s garage estimates and higher ranges apply when preparation or decorative effects are added |
Because the Auscraft pages do not show a publication date, do not describe these numbers as newly verified 2026 market rates. Ask for a dated, written quotation after an inspection or a detailed review of slab photographs and measurements.
Why two garages can have very different prices
Floor coating is a preparation job as much as a painting job. Auscraft says both new and old concrete should be diamond-ground before coating. Grinding removes weak surface material and opens the concrete so the coating can bond; it also creates dust-control, labour and disposal requirements.

Condition of the concrete
Cracks, low spots, spalling, oil contamination and previous paint can require additional work. Epoxy does not hide cracks or an uneven floor. A contractor should identify which defects will be filled, levelled or merely left visible, and state whether those repairs are included in the price.
Moisture and existing coatings
Moisture in the slab can interfere with adhesion. Existing coatings may also prevent a reliable bond unless they are removed or mechanically prepared. Tell the contractor about damp patches, rising moisture, water entry, old paving paint and any history of failed coatings before accepting a price.
Size, access and location
A measured area over 200 m² is priced differently on Auscraft’s homepage from its small-garage estimate. Regional Victorian work may involve different travel and logistics from Melbourne metro work. A garage with restricted access, a steep driveway or occupied commercial premises can require extra planning even when the floor area is unchanged.
Which floor system is being proposed?
“Epoxy floor coating” can describe more than one finished system. Auscraft lists epoxy, polyurea, polyurethane and non-slip floors, with different intended uses.

| System listed by Auscraft | Uses the company associates with it | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Epoxy | Car dealerships, car parks and factories | Is this a solid-colour epoxy, and what topcoat is specified? |
| Polyurea | Restaurants, coffee shops, residential garages and basements | Is decorative flake included, and is a clear sealer required? |
| Polyurethane | Areas exposed to weather and ultraviolet light | Is polyurethane being used as the main system or as a protective topcoat? |
| Non-slip flooring | Commercial kitchens and wash bays | Which anti-slip aggregate and certification apply to this installation? |
Auscraft describes its epoxy as a high-quality Australian-made two-part product. It normally applies two coats and sometimes three, depending on concrete porosity and colour opacity. The number and type of coats should appear on the quote rather than being assumed from the word “epoxy”.
What a professional installation may involve
Auscraft’s Beaumaris example illustrates why a finished floor can cost more than a basic coating rate. The stated sequence was:
- Mechanical preparation: the existing floor was ground to remove old paving paint and open the concrete surface.
- Crack repair: cracks were filled with epoxy filler. The quote should identify whether all visible cracks are included and what happens if movement continues.
- Base coats: two coats of two-part cold-cure epoxy were applied.
- Decorative broadcast: flakes were spread through the wet coating, then excess flakes were removed after curing.
- Protective topcoat: the surface was finished with polyurea.
That example was priced at $3,900–$4,900 plus GST for the floor portion, with the range attributed to grinding and repair requirements. It demonstrates that a flake-and-topcoat system is not equivalent to a minimal solid-colour application.
Performance claims and practical limitations
Auscraft says its products resist hot tyres, oils, petrol, stains and mild acids. Those are company claims for its products and should not be extended automatically to every epoxy product or installation. Ask which layer provides each resistance and whether the claim applies to your expected chemical concentration, temperature and exposure time.

Slip resistance
Wet epoxy can be slippery unless an anti-slip additive is used. For kitchens, wash bays, ramps and other wet areas, have the quote identify the additive, broadcast rate and finished texture. Auscraft says its non-slip floors have slip-resistance certification to AS/NZS 4586:1999; request the specific certification or test documentation for the system being installed.
Ultraviolet exposure
For floors exposed to weather or strong sunlight, ask whether a polyurethane component or another UV-resistant topcoat is required. A garage protected from sunlight has different exposure from an open car park, loading area or exterior path.

Epoxy can improve cleanability and appearance, but it does not conceal structural movement, major unevenness or moisture defects. Colour opacity can also determine whether a third coat is needed, particularly over a patchy or porous slab.
Warranty, exclusions and maintenance
Auscraft states that its work carries a 12-month warranty against peeling and blistering, subject to limitations. Request the complete written terms before work starts. The stated exclusions include hydrostatic pressure and certain damage caused by fire, flood, loose abrasive debris, mechanical activity, welding, grinding, smelting, dragging items or using the floor while it cures.

These exclusions make the handover instructions important. Ask when vehicles, forklifts, shelving, chemical containers and wash-down equipment may return, and what protection is required during the cure period. Keep records of known moisture or slab problems disclosed before installation.
Recoating guidance
Auscraft suggests recoating solid-colour epoxy every 4–6 years to maintain a new appearance. For its premium flake polyurea finish, it suggests reapplying clear sealer every 6–10 years, depending on traffic and abuse. These are maintenance guides, not guaranteed coating lifespans. Heavy industrial traffic, dragging loads, chemicals and poor cleaning practices can shorten the interval.
How to compare an Auscraft quote with another contractor
Price per square metre is meaningful only when the underlying scope matches. Put competing proposals into the same comparison:
| Comparison item | What should be written down |
|---|---|
| Measured area | Square metres, edge details, coves, steps and thresholds |
| Preparation | Diamond grinding, shot blasting or another method; dust control and cleanup |
| Repairs | Crack filling, patching, levelling, oil removal and treatment of old coatings |
| Coating build | Product type, primer if any, number of coats, thickness and cure conditions |
| Finish | Solid colour, decorative flake, broadcast density and selected topcoat |
| Safety | Anti-slip additive, texture and any AS/NZS 4586:1999 documentation |
| Use and exposure | UV, weather, hot tyres, oils, petrol, acids, forklifts, wash-down and traffic |
| Commercial terms | GST, inclusions, exclusions, warranty, cure time, payment stages and disposal |
A lower headline rate may omit grinding, minor repairs, moisture treatment, a topcoat or GST. Conversely, a higher quote may include the preparation needed for a durable bond. Compare the written scope, not only the total.

Questions for different types of property
Home garages and basements
Confirm whether hot tyres, stored fuel, oil drips and occasional wet weather are expected. Ask how long the car must remain outside and whether the proposed finish will make existing cracks or patch repairs visible.
Retail, hospitality and commercial premises
Restaurants, coffee shops and wash areas may need a more textured, cleanable and chemical-resistant system than a dry garage. Coordinate grinding, odour, ventilation, access and reopening time with the operator’s schedule.

Provide the contractor with a traffic and chemical brief: forklift wheel type, pallet loads, turning points, welding, grinding, hot work, oils, acids and wash-down frequency. These details affect system selection, exclusions and maintenance planning.
How to request a useful quote
- Measure each floor zone and note thresholds, drains, steps and areas that will not be coated.
- Photograph cracks, damp marks, peeling paint, oil stains, uneven patches and access restrictions.
- Describe traffic, chemicals, hot tyres, sunlight, wet cleaning and the date by which the floor must return to service.
- Ask Auscraft to state the preparation method, repairs, product system, coat count, finish, anti-slip specification and topcoat.
- Request GST, cure and return-to-use times, warranty terms and every exclusion in writing.
- Compare any competing quote using the same measured area and scope.
- Do not approve the work until moisture concerns, old coatings and crack movement have been discussed and allocated in the contract.
Auscraft says it normally provides a quote within 24 hours. That response time does not remove the need for a site-specific scope: a fast estimate based on incomplete information can still change after inspection.
Is a DIY two-part epoxy kit suitable?
A two-part epoxy coating kit can be a legitimate search option for someone explicitly choosing a DIY project. However, Auscraft describes two-part epoxy systems, while DIY flake guides describe DIY options; neither establishes that a kit is suitable for your slab or will perform like a professionally prepared installation.
DIY success depends on moisture control, removal of old coatings, mechanical preparation, crack repair, mixing accuracy, working time, ventilation and cure protection. If the slab is damp, contaminated, badly cracked or uneven, the main risk is substrate failure rather than the brand of kit. For a garage, commercial floor or industrial area where downtime and rework are costly, obtain a professional assessment before deciding that the kit price is a saving.
