AVENTOS HK top is Blum’s compact stay-lift hardware for upward-opening kitchen cabinet fronts. A concealed, symmetrical mechanism balances the front so it can stay at a selected position instead of falling closed or swinging into the user’s face. It is intended for both face-frame and frameless wall cabinets, with manufacturer-published cabinet heights of 205–610 mm (8–24 in) and widths up to 1,828 mm (72 in).

What AVENTOS HK top does
Unlike a conventional side hinge, AVENTOS HK top lifts the entire front upward and keeps it above the cabinet opening. The lift mechanism is installed inside the cabinet, so the hardware is largely hidden when the door is closed. Blum describes the system for wall cabinets and for both face-frame and frameless construction.
Its core is a pair of symmetrical lift mechanisms. The same mechanism can be positioned on either side of the cabinet, and each mechanism incorporates a positioning template. The template references the cabinet top and front edge, reducing separate measuring and pre-drilling during layout. Four mechanism types cover the AVENTOS HK top application range; the correct type still depends on the front’s dimensions and weight, not on cabinet width alone.
Blum also builds in a safety feature in the lever arm and an opening-angle stop. The stop limits how far the front rises when a ceiling, crown molding or adjacent cabinet would otherwise interfere. Blum’s assembly information says, “The integrated safety mechanism prevents the levers from opening unintentionally.” That is a manufacturer statement, not an independent safety test, so installation must still follow the applicable instructions and the cabinet must be securely constructed.

They are limits for planning, not a promise that every combination of width, height and front weight will use the same mechanism. Front weight is the critical sizing input. A wide, shallow door can weigh differently from a narrow, tall door made from the same material. Include glass, handles, decorative rails and any attached trim when determining the front weight. If the project is near a published limit, use Blum’s planning information or a cabinet hardware professional rather than estimating from width.
How the lift and adjustment system works
Weight-balanced stay function
The mechanism is tension-adjusted to the front. When correctly set, the front can remain in a chosen intermediate position instead of dropping or rising by itself. Blum says this tension adjustment is accessible from the front without removing the cover cap, which is useful when a finished kitchen needs a small correction.

The US AVENTOS HK top experience page publishes an adjustment range of 75–107 degrees. This is the range of the mechanism’s angle adjustment, not a guarantee that every cabinet can physically open through every value. A low ceiling, soffit, crown molding or a neighboring door may require a smaller stop. Check clearance with the front installed and set the stop before normal use.
Three-dimensional front alignment
TORX adjustment points provide three-dimensional front adjustment, allowing the installer to correct the front’s height, side-to-side position and depth relative to the cabinet. Make small, alternating corrections on both sides so the reveal stays even. Do not use the adjustment screws to compensate for a cabinet box that is out of square.
Tool-free front attachment
The CLIP mechanism attaches the front without a separate fastening operation at the lever connection. “Tool-free” applies to the CLIP attachment step; it does not eliminate the need for the specified cabinet drilling, connectors or screws for the chosen front type.

Choose the motion behavior before ordering
AVENTOS HK top is the lift mechanism. Blum lists several motion technologies that can be combined with it, each serving a different user preference:
- Manual operation: the user lifts and lowers the front by hand. This is the simplest configuration and still benefits from the balanced stay function.
- BLUMOTION: adds soft closing so the front decelerates near the closed position. It addresses closing behavior, not the basic lift sizing.
- SERVO-DRIVE: provides electrical motion support for powered opening and closing. Plan the electrical components and the specific SERVO-DRIVE application instructions alongside the lift hardware.
- TIP-ON: provides mechanical push-to-open support for handleless fronts. It is a mechanical opening aid, not a replacement for the lift mechanism or its tension adjustment.
Decide whether the cabinet needs manual, push-to-open or powered operation before finalizing the front and cabinet details. Combining technologies changes the installation sequence and the parts list, so use the application-specific instructions rather than mixing diagrams from different variants.
Planning checklist before drilling
- Measure the cabinet: record internal height, overall width, depth and the position of the top panel. Confirm that the height falls within 205–610 mm and that the width does not exceed 1,828 mm.
- Identify the construction: mark the cabinet as face-frame or frameless. The reference edges and drilling details differ.
- Define the front: record material, thickness, finished dimensions and calculated weight, including glass, pulls and trim. If the front is thinner than a conventional panel, verify whether EXPANDO T is required; Blum lists thin-front use from 8 mm with that system.
- Check overhead geometry: measure the ceiling, soffit, crown and neighboring doors. Decide where the front can safely stop within the 75–107-degree adjustment range.
- Select the mechanism: use Blum’s lift-factor planning information to choose the mechanism type for the measured front. Do not select solely by cabinet width.
- Choose motion accessories: specify BLUMOTION, SERVO-DRIVE or TIP-ON only after confirming compatibility with the selected lift and front.
- Download the right instruction: Blum separates guidance for wood or wide-aluminum fronts, narrow-aluminum fronts, standard applications and SERVO-DRIVE. Start with the document matching the actual application.

Installation sequence
The exact hole positions and fasteners depend on the front and cabinet construction. The sequence below explains the system’s architecture; use the matching Blum drawing for dimensions.
- Prepare the cabinet: verify that the cabinet is level, square and firmly fixed to the wall or adjoining units. A lift cannot correct a twisted cabinet carcass.
- Use the integrated positioning template: place the mechanism against the cabinet top and front reference edges as shown in the application instructions. The symmetrical design allows installation on either cabinet side.
- Mark and drill: transfer the template locations and drill only the holes specified for the chosen mechanism and front. Check screw length against the cabinet material and avoid penetrating visible surfaces.
- Install both mechanisms: fit the left and right mechanisms symmetrically and confirm that the lever arms move freely. Do not force a mechanism whose mounting surface is misaligned.
- Prepare the front: use the front-marking template and the drilling pattern for wood, wide aluminum, narrow aluminum or EXPANDO T, as applicable.
- Attach the front with CLIP: engage the front on both sides and verify that each connection has latched. Support a wide or heavy front while making the connection.
- Set the initial tension: adjust the mechanism for the measured front weight. Begin with the front supported and make equal adjustments on both sides.
- Set the opening stop: raise the front slowly, check ceiling and neighboring-cabinet clearance, and set the stop below the first interference point.
- Align the front: use the TORX three-dimensional adjustments to establish an even reveal and flush alignment. Open and close the front several times while making incremental corrections.
- Add motion accessories: install BLUMOTION, TIP-ON or SERVO-DRIVE components according to their dedicated instructions, then repeat the functional check.
Adjustment and commissioning
Balancing the front
With the cabinet secured and the front attached, open it partway and release it carefully. If it rises or falls, adjust the lift tension in small, equal increments until it remains where you leave it. Recheck at several positions, including near closed and near the opening stop. A front that stays still only at one point is not correctly balanced.

Setting the stop for the room
The stop should be based on the real installation, not an assumed maximum angle. Open the front under control, identify the closest ceiling or adjacent obstruction, then reduce the angle enough to provide a practical clearance margin. After changing the stop, verify that the front still gives adequate access to the cabinet interior.
Aligning reveals
Correct height first, then side-to-side position and depth. Inspect the reveal with the cabinet closed and the front open. If one corner remains out of line after reasonable adjustment, inspect the cabinet’s squareness and the front’s construction rather than continuing to increase screw force.
Final safety check
- Both mechanisms are fully fastened and sit flush against their reference surfaces.
- Both CLIP connections are latched.
- The front does not drift upward or downward when released.
- The opening stop prevents contact with the ceiling, soffit and adjacent doors.
- No lever, cable or accessory rubs against the cabinet or front.
- Closing is controlled, and any powered or push-to-open accessory operates only after the manual movement is correct.
Common problems and practical fixes
The front will not stay open
The usual cause is insufficient tension for the installed front weight or an incorrect mechanism selection. Recheck the complete front weight, including hardware and glass, then adjust both mechanisms evenly. If the adjustment reaches its limit, stop and verify the lift-factor selection instead of forcing the screw.
The front rises by itself
Too much tension, a front lighter than the planning assumption or an incorrectly selected mechanism can cause upward movement. Reduce tension in equal increments and retest. Confirm that the front dimensions and materials match the planning data.
The front hits the ceiling or a neighboring cabinet
Set a lower opening stop and verify the published angle range against the actual geometry. If the cabinet cannot provide the required access at a safe angle, change the cabinet or front design; do not remove the stop.

The two sides do not move together
Check that both mechanisms are mounted at the same reference position, that the front is fully latched on both sides and that neither lever is obstructed. A twisted cabinet or uneven front can also create apparent timing differences.
The front is skewed or the reveal is uneven
Use the TORX three-dimensional adjustments in small steps. If the correction is excessive, recheck the cabinet’s level and square, the front drilling pattern and the symmetry of the mechanism installation.
A thin front feels loose
Verify that the front is at least 8 mm where applicable and that EXPANDO T and its specified drilling pattern were used. A generic screw pattern is not a substitute for the connector system required by the front material.
When this system is a good fit
AVENTOS HK top suits a wall cabinet where an upward-opening front should move out of the user’s working area and remain open while contents are accessed. Its concealed mechanism, symmetrical installation and front-accessible adjustment are useful when a clean exterior and later fine-tuning matter.
It is less suitable when there is no safe overhead travel, when the front weight cannot be established, or when the cabinet is outside the published size range. In those cases, redesign the cabinet geometry or choose a different opening method rather than treating the lift as a universal retrofit.
Documentation and ongoing care
Keep the installation sheet with the cabinet record, especially when a kitchen has several front types. If a front is replaced with a heavier material, recalculate the weight and rebalance the mechanisms; do not assume the old setting remains valid. Periodically inspect fasteners, CLIP engagement, cables or electrical accessories where fitted, and the opening stop. Clean visible cover caps with the method appropriate for the finish and avoid lubricants or modifications not specified by the manufacturer.
