Those descriptions identify the product concept, not an approval for every site. Current dimensions, glass build-up, loads, fixings, substrate, certification and installation details must be confirmed against the project’s engineering documents and the latest Axiom documentation before ordering or installing.
What the AxiLume Clearview system is
Clearview is a fully framed glass balustrade: the glazing sits within a framed assembly rather than being held only by isolated point fittings or a minimal shoe. Axiom lists Clearview Fully Framed as a balustrade-system category and identifies the AxiLume Clearview Modular Fully Framed range in its product-release material.

The manufacturer’s Vista description is unusually specific about the supplied condition. It calls the product a “pre-glazed, powder coated, and assembled balustrade system that clips together and bolts down.” That wording indicates a modular, largely prepared system in which the installer connects supplied sections and secures them to the supporting structure. It does not establish a guaranteed installation duration, a particular crew size or a labour saving; those outcomes depend on access, geometry, substrate and the approved fixing design.
What “modular” means in practice
Modular construction normally requires the balustrade to be coordinated as a series of posts, rails, corners and glazed bays rather than as one continuous custom fabrication. The exact module lengths, joints and tolerances are not stated in the available public material. The architect, supplier and engineer therefore need to agree the setting-out drawings before fabrication.
Vista suite options
| Listed variation | What the manufacturer identifies | What still needs project confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Rectangular handrail | Vista version using a rectangular handrail profile. | Profile dimensions, finish, joints, end details, returns and fixing method. |
| Oval handrail | Vista version using an oval handrail profile. | Profile dimensions, finish, joints, end details, returns and fixing method. |
| Elliptical louvre blade | A listed suite variation incorporating an 88 mm-wide elliptical louvre blade. | Blade spacing, orientation, privacy or screening performance, wind design and connection details. |
The 88 mm figure describes the listed blade width; it is not a complete louvre specification. Do not infer spacing, airflow, shading, acoustic performance or structural capacity from that single dimension.
How the supplied system is intended to connect
Factory-prepared condition
Axiom’s description says the Vista system is pre-glazed, powder-coated and assembled. “Pre-glazed” means the glass is described as installed in the supplied frame before site connection. “Powder-coated” identifies the stated finish process, but the coating class, colour reference, film thickness and environmental warranty are not provided in the reviewed material. “Assembled” does not remove the need for site checks, final fixing, alignment and inspection.

Clip-together and bolt-down installation
Axiom’s release material describes a clip-together installation method, while the Vista page says the system clips together and bolts down. A project-specific installation should be planned around the following sequence, subject to the approved shop drawings and engineer’s instructions:
- Confirm the approved set-out. Check bay lengths, corners, level changes, openings, handrail returns and interfaces with waterproofing, tiles, membranes and drainage. The available material does not provide standard module dimensions.
- Verify the supporting structure. Establish the substrate type, edge distances, reinforcement and allowable fixing locations. A baseplate or other fixing detail must be selected from current engineering documentation, not assumed from a typical detail.
- Protect completed surfaces. Identify areas where concealed products or products contacting a screed or tile bed could be exposed to moisture. The drawing evidence specifically calls for corrosion protection in these conditions.
- Place and align the framed sections. Connect the supplied modules using the specified clip arrangement. Check plumb, level, bay alignment and corner geometry before final tightening.
- Install approved bolts and fixings. Bolt down only with the fasteners, anchors, torque requirements and substrate details stated by the current engineer or manufacturer. Generic fasteners cannot be assumed compatible.
- Check glass retention. Confirm that blocking and frame engagement prevent the glass from dislodging. The historical drawing note says the glass should be blocked so it cannot dislodge from the frame.
- Complete handrails, caps and interfaces. Fit the specified handrail, under-cap, corners, end closures and adjoining construction details, then inspect the finished assembly against the approved drawings.
This is a coordination outline, not a substitute for Axiom’s current installation instructions or the project engineer’s method statement.

Components identified in the drawing evidence
A Vista SD5-02 drawing search result identifies several system-specific parts. The drawing is dated 24 November 2015, so it is historical component evidence rather than proof of the current catalogue or a current installation detail.
| Reference | Component identified | Specification implication |
|---|---|---|
| AXFLCS | Post | Coordinate post location, bay widths, corners and fixing points with the current layout. |
| BPDPMP | Baseplate | Confirm the current baseplate geometry, anchor pattern, substrate and corrosion treatment. |
| AXOHCS | Oval handrail | Use only where the approved Vista variation calls for this profile. |
| AXUCCS | Handrail under-cap | Confirm compatibility with the selected handrail and frame assembly. |
| AXBRCS | Bottom rail | Check its relationship to glass blocking, drainage, finishes and cleaning access. |
| AXCPS | Corner post | Coordinate corner angles, returns and adjoining handrail joints. |
The same drawing result references 6 mm toughened glass and AS 1288. Because the document is from 2015, the glass thickness, treatment, support conditions and standard edition must be rechecked against the current design. A reference to 6 mm toughened glass is not permission to substitute that make-up on a new project.

Glass retention, corrosion and material interfaces
Retaining the glazing
The drawing note that glass must be blocked so it cannot dislodge is a critical installation requirement. Blocking details should appear in the current shop drawings or installation instructions, including the material, location, tolerances and inspection method. The installer should not improvise packing or remove blocking to make a misaligned pane fit.
Separating dissimilar metals
The drawing evidence says dissimilar metals must be separated. The required isolator, coating, gasket or other separation method is not specified in the public material. Ask the supplier and engineer to identify every metal-to-metal interface, including posts, baseplates, bolts, rails, caps and adjacent building components.
Protecting concealed and wet-zone products
Products concealed in construction or contacting a screed or tile bed require corrosion protection according to the drawing notes. Coordinate the balustrade with waterproofing, falls, sealants and finished floor levels before the deck or balcony is closed up. A powder-coated visible surface does not by itself establish the protection of concealed fixings or cut edges.
Certification and structural approval
The Vista page says the system is certified, and Axiom’s current page describes customised certification and references Australian Standards Code AS 1170.1. These are manufacturer statements about the product range and its certification approach. They do not establish that a particular assembly, fixing, height, wind exposure, substrate or site condition is approved.

Visual character
A fully framed system gives the glass a more defined perimeter than a frameless or semi-frameless arrangement. Select the rectangular or oval handrail according to the intended line, touch profile and junction treatment. If the louvre-blade variation is being considered, resolve whether it is a visual screen, a privacy element or simply a design feature; the available description does not establish performance for any of those functions.

Geometry and interfaces
Document every straight run, corner, return, stair transition, level change and termination. Show how the balustrade meets walls, fascias, waterproofing, pavers, tiles and drainage outlets. Modular sections can simplify coordination only when the setting-out tolerances are known before fabrication.
Substrate and edge conditions
Record whether each fixing lands in concrete, steel, timber or another approved support, and identify slab edges, reinforcement and services. A baseplate appearance alone cannot prove that the underlying structure can resist the design actions.

Finish and exposure
Specify the powder-coat colour and environmental requirements in the project schedule, then ask for the current coating specification and maintenance instructions. Coastal, industrial, high-moisture or chemically exposed locations may require particular protection; no universal exposure rating is stated in the available material.
How Clearview compares with other balustrade approaches
A fair comparison should use the same design brief and the same structural conditions. The following axes are useful when comparing Clearview with semi-frameless, frameless or other framed systems:
Recommended Free Tools
| Comparison axis | Question for Clearview | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | How does the fully framed perimeter and selected handrail suit the elevation? | Frames, rails and corners affect sightlines, shadow lines and junction detailing. |
| Supply condition | Are the required bays supplied pre-glazed and assembled, and what is connected on site? | Site handling, access, storage and inspection depend on the actual delivery condition. |
| Configuration | Which handrail, glass and louvre options are available for the project? | Options change visual design and may change engineering or coordination requirements. |
| Certification | What current certificate covers this exact height, span, glass and fixing arrangement? | Range-level statements are not a project approval. |
| Substrate and fixing | What anchors, edge distances, isolators and substrate capacities are required? | Fixing design often determines feasibility before the visible system is chosen. |
| Programme and cost | What are the quoted price, lead time, delivery limits and installation scope? | No public price or lead-time figure is established for Clearview. |
| Maintenance | What cleaning, inspection, coating and replacement procedures apply? | Lifecycle effort depends on the finish, exposure and access to components. |
Documentation and procurement workflow
- Issue the design intent. Provide plans, elevations, sections, levels, finishes, handrail choice and any louvre requirement.
- Request current technical information. Ask Axiom or its specialist supplier for CAD files, current component drawings, certificates, engineering limits and installation instructions. Axiom states that CAD files are available on request.
- Complete the engineering review. Have the responsible engineer verify loads, glass, posts, baseplates, anchors, substrate and edge distances for the actual site.
- Coordinate adjacent trades. Resolve waterproofing, screeds, tiles, membranes, drainage, façade interfaces and access for lifting or handling.
- Approve shop drawings. Check every module, corner, termination, joint, handrail return and fixing before fabrication.
- Confirm the commercial scope. Obtain written pricing, delivery timing, finish, packaging, replacement policy and installation responsibilities. These values are not stated in the public information.
- Record installation evidence. Keep delivery checks, substrate records, fixing inspections, glass-blocking checks, torque records where specified and final sign-off.
Site quality checklist
- Current drawings and certificates are available at the workface.
- Delivered components match the approved schedule and are free from transport damage.
- Post and baseplate locations match the set-out.
- Substrate, reinforcement and edge distances have been checked before drilling.
- Specified corrosion protection and separation of dissimilar metals are installed.
- Glass is undamaged, correctly seated and blocked against dislodgement.
- Clips, bolts, handrails, under-caps, bottom rails and corner posts are installed as detailed.
- Finished levels, plumb, alignment, returns and clearances are recorded.
- Waterproofing and adjacent finishes remain intact.
- Any deviation is referred to the engineer before concealment or handover.
What is not established by the available public information
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Project-specific load capacity | Not stated; calculate and certify for the actual assembly and site. |
| Standard bay dimensions or maximum spans | Not stated; obtain current system drawings. |
| Approved fixing type and substrate | Not stated; engineer and supplier must nominate them. |
| Current glass make-up | A 2015 drawing result references 6 mm toughened glass; verify the current design. |
| Price and lead time | Not stated; request a project quotation. |
| Universal compliance for every Australian site | Not established; certification and code compliance are configuration- and project-dependent. |
Maintenance and long-term ownership
Ask for the current care instructions before handover. Establish how often exposed surfaces, glass channels, handrails, joints and drainage paths should be inspected and cleaned, and which products are permitted on the powder-coated finish, glass and seals. Do not assume that a general cleaner, replacement fastener or third-party handrail is compatible. Replacement glass and components should be ordered by the system reference and approved configuration, with the engineer consulted where a component affects retention or structural behaviour.
Questions to put to Axiom or the specialist supplier
- Which current Clearview/Vista drawing and certificate cover this exact layout?
- What glass type, thickness, treatment and edge details are approved?
- What are the allowable heights, spans, corner conditions and handrail configurations?
- Which baseplate, anchor and isolator details apply to the proposed substrate?
- How must glass blocking and retention be installed and inspected?
- What corrosion protection is required for concealed or wet-zone components?
- What CAD files, shop-drawing templates and installation instructions are current?
- What delivery condition, handling method, warranty, price and lead time are quoted for this project?
Clearview is best treated as a coordinated architectural system rather than an off-the-shelf railing kit. Its pre-glazed, clip-together and bolt-down description can simplify design coordination, while the fully framed appearance and Vista handrail or louvre choices support a defined architectural language. Final acceptance depends on current project documentation, engineering and installation inspection—not on the range description alone.
