On November 11, 2022, Kristi Linauer reported a meaningful breakthrough in her master-bathroom remodel: the long-delayed wall had been trimmed out, with only two top pieces still to install. She stopped for the evening because the table saw was in an unlit area and she did not want to make those cuts in darkness.
The trim was not yet at the finishing stage. The mitered joints still needed caulk, and Linauer planned to prime, paint, and then tile the wall. This is a progress report on where that bathroom stood that night—not a complete trim-installation guide.

Linauer described the milestone in unusually direct terms: “The unfinished wall that I’ve been putting off for way too long now has finally been trimmed out.” The sentence captures both parts of the update. The visible trim work had advanced substantially, but the emotional weight of finally starting—and largely finishing—a postponed task was just as important.
Most of the wall trim was in place by the time she wrote the post. Calling the wall “trimmed out” therefore refers to the main body of the trim work, not to a fully completed, painted, or tiled wall. Two pieces along the top remained outstanding, and the joints had not yet been caulked.

Progress snapshot from November 11, 2022
| Project element | Status in Linauer’s update | What the post establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Main wall trim | Mostly installed | The unfinished wall had received most of its trim. |
| Two top pieces | Not installed that evening | Linauer postponed the final cuts because the table-saw area lacked lighting. |
| Mitered joints | Not caulked | Caulking was listed among the remaining finishing tasks. |
| Primer and paint | Planned, not completed | She expected to prime and paint after the trim work. |
| Tile | Planned, not completed | Tile installation was still ahead in the project sequence she described. |
Why the last two pieces had to wait
The delay was practical rather than a change of plan. Linauer’s table saw was located in an area without lighting, and she chose not to operate it in the dark. That decision left two top pieces for another session.
This detail matters because it explains why a post celebrating the wall being trimmed out still contains unfinished work. The pause was a safety-conscious stopping point, not evidence that the trim design had been abandoned or that the earlier pieces had failed. The account does not identify the saw, its settings, the cut dimensions, or the trim profile, so those details cannot be reconstructed from the update.

- Paint. Painting was still ahead once the earlier preparation was finished.
- Tile the wall. Tile installation remained a later phase of the bathroom project.
This order describes Linauer’s plan for this particular wall. It should not be read as a universal specification for every bathroom, because the post does not discuss the wall assembly, moisture conditions, tile layout, coating system, or local building requirements.
The trim itself is not specified
Readers looking for a product identification will not find one in this progress report. Linauer did not state the trim material, profile, dimensions, manufacturer, model, fasteners, adhesive, or installation method. The post also does not provide a cut list, measurements, diagrams, or a materials budget.
That absence is important in a bathroom. It prevents a reliable conclusion about whether the installed pieces are wood, a composite, or another material, and it provides no basis for judging their suitability for a particular wet-area application. “Wood trim molding” is a broad category a reader might investigate separately, but it cannot be presented as the material Linauer installed.

Accountability helped move the project forward
Linauer credited reader accountability as one reason she pushed herself to make progress. The update is therefore about project management as much as carpentry. A task that had been deferred for too long became difficult to ignore once she had publicly documented it and knew readers were following along.
That context explains the celebratory tone even though two pieces and several finishing operations remained. In a long renovation, completing a conspicuous, repeatedly postponed section can be a meaningful milestone before the room is technically complete. The post records that psychological shift without claiming that the bathroom was nearly ready for use.
Where this wall fits in the larger remodel
The bathroom is part of a broader fixer-upper renovation. Linauer compared her expected timeline for the master-bathroom remodel with a three-year bathroom remodel mentioned in an Instagram reel she had seen. She said her own project appeared to be on track to take about half as long.

- The lightweight wooden handles provide extra comfort and ease during long painting processes like walls, trims, cabinets, and doors.
- These versatile brushes are ready-to-use, easy to clean, and can be reused multiple times, making them economical as well as reliable tools for any painting project.
- Bates paint brushes can be used for both oil-based paints as well as latex stains and are ideal for home or commercial projects such as decks, fences or DIY painting jobs.
That comparison is personal and informal. It is not a study of renovation durations, a contractor benchmark, or a prediction that applies to other homes. The post supplies no start date, completion date, labor hours, budget, or independent schedule data. Its value is showing how one homeowner understood her progress within the much longer process of remodeling a fixer-upper.

How to read the update as a project-status report
The most accurate way to summarize the post is to separate structural progress from surface completion. Structurally, most of the trim had been installed. In terms of finish quality, the mitered joints still awaited caulk, and the surface had not yet been primed or painted. In terms of the complete wall design, tile installation was still pending.
That distinction keeps the headline’s enthusiasm while preserving the actual status. “Finally trimmed out” communicates that the major installation hurdle had been crossed. It does not mean the wall was ready for its final coat of paint, ready for tile, or finished in every construction sense.

What readers can—and cannot—take from the post
Established by the update
- The progress report was published November 11, 2022.
- Most of the bathroom wall trim had been installed.
- Two upper pieces were left for a later session because the table-saw area was unlit.
- The mitered joints had not yet been caulked.
- Priming, painting, and tiling were identified as future work.
- Reader accountability helped motivate Linauer to complete the postponed portion of the project.
Not established by the update
- The trim’s material, dimensions, profile, brand, or cost.
- The exact wall measurements or number of installed pieces.
- The type of caulk, primer, paint, tile, saw, or other tool used.
- Whether the wall had any special waterproofing or code requirements.
- How long the remaining work ultimately took or when the bathroom remodel was completed.
Keeping those boundaries clear makes the progress report useful without turning it into a product recommendation or a set of technical instructions that the source does not provide.
Why this milestone is easy to recognize
Trim changes the way an unfinished room reads. Even without a specified profile or finish color, installed trim marks an edge, frames the wall, and makes the space look more intentional. That visual change is why a homeowner can experience the work as a major breakthrough before caulk, paint, and tile are complete.
For Linauer, the milestone also represented the end of a period of avoidance. The wall had been the unfinished element she kept putting off; completing most of the installation converted it from an open obligation into a short list of defined finishing tasks. The remaining work was visible and nameable rather than indefinite.
The practical takeaway from this bathroom update
As of the November 11 post, the master-bathroom wall had crossed the biggest trim-installation hurdle but was still in progress. Two top pieces needed to be cut and installed in a properly lit workspace. After that, Linauer expected to caulk the mitered joints, prime, paint, and eventually tile the wall.
The update is best understood as a candid checkpoint in a fixer-upper remodel: substantial progress, a sensible pause when the work area was dark, and a clearly defined finishing phase still ahead. It offers a window into the rhythm of a real renovation, while leaving product specifications, measurements, costs, and technical installation guidance outside the scope of the post.
