Beeple’s Regular Animals is an artwork, not a robot-dog product. The interactive installation debuted in the Zero10 digital-art section at Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2025. It comprised robotic quadrupeds carrying hyper-realistic heads based on Beeple, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. Each reported edition cost $100,000, and the editions reportedly sold out; the dog with Beeple’s own face sold first.

What Beeple’s robot dogs are
Regular Animals combines physical robot bodies, sculpted or modeled celebrity and artist heads, cameras, software and artificial intelligence. The heads deliberately place technology executives beside canonical artists on identical quadruped platforms. That visual equivalence is central to the work: it treats founders, celebrities and art-historical figures as competing cultural personas rather than presenting a neutral collection of portraits.
The installation’s theatrical “pooping” presentation is intentional performance, using absurdity and spectacle to make the machines feel like characters rather than ordinary hardware. The result is closer to an interactive sculpture and performance than to a consumer robot-dog launch.

- Playful Puppy Companion: Meet the Ruko 18011 robot dog—a playful companion that walks, spins, wags its tail, dances, and even lifts its leg to “pee.” Just a gentle touch on its head, and it responds with cheerful sounds and silly moves, bringing endless giggles without the mess of a real pet.
- LED Faces That Delight: With 70 glowing LED lights, this puppy shows more than 30 animated facial expressions. From wide happy eyes to goofy faces, kids can instantly see its moods, making storytelling, pretend play, and silly roleplay games more magical.
- Learn Through Programming: Instead of just watching, kids become the “trainer.” With the programming mode, they can design up to 50 custom moves—like a dance routine or a parade of tricks. It’s a fun, hands-on way to spark creativity, problem-solving, and early STEM skills.
- Control Near or Far: Whether kids are racing it across the living room or guiding it in the backyard, they’re always in charge. The 2.4GHz remote works from up to 98 feet away, while simple hand gestures let them direct their pup up close—so play never gets boring.
- Safe Fun in Anywhere: This clever pup knows when something’s in the way. Thanks to obstacle-avoidance sensors, it smoothly avoids walls and furniture. Perfect for small apartments, bedrooms, or any indoor play space where kids can enjoy worry-free fun.
Which figures appear on the dogs?
| Head or represented persona | Role in the installation | Image treatment described for the work | Reported price and availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beeple (Mike Winkelmann) | Digital artist and the work’s creator | Persona-specific transformation generated from the dog’s view | $100,000 per reported edition; sold out, with this edition reported to sell first |
| Elon Musk | Technology executive | Persona-specific transformation generated from the dog’s view | $100,000 per reported edition; reported sold out |
| Jeff Bezos | Technology and business executive | Persona-specific transformation generated from the dog’s view | $100,000 per reported edition; reported sold out |
| Mark Zuckerberg | Technology executive | Persona-specific transformation generated from the dog’s view | $100,000 per reported edition; reported sold out |
| Pablo Picasso | Modern artist | Images described as Picasso-like cubist output | $100,000 per reported edition; reported sold out |
| Andy Warhol | Pop artist | Images described as Warhol-like pop-art output | $100,000 per reported edition; reported sold out |
The reported edition structure was two editions plus an artist’s proof for each represented dog. “Sold out” describes the reported primary offering; it does not mean that a robot is available through a normal retail channel.
How the cameras and AI turn looking into the artwork
- The robot observes. Integrated cameras capture what each quadruped sees.
- Software interprets the feed. AI and related software transform that visual input according to the persona represented by the head.
- The system produces a physical response. The transformed imagery is printed, making the robot’s encounter with its surroundings part of the displayed work.
Picasso’s dog produces cubist-leaning imagery and Warhol’s produces pop-art-leaning imagery; the other heads receive their own persona-specific transformations without a single published style label covering all of them. The artwork therefore behaves as a feedback loop: the visitor looks at a machine, while the machine observes and returns an image shaped by its assigned cultural identity.

Beeple framed that idea by asking: “What if the act of looking at art were no longer a one-way encounter, but part of a feedback loop in which the artwork observes, learns, and remembers us in return?”
Why did the Beeple-faced dog sell first?
The reported first sale is best understood as a collision of recognizability, authorship and market history—not as evidence that its robot hardware was technically superior. Beeple’s own face identifies the dog directly with the artist who made the installation, while the other heads refer to people whose public identities are being interpreted through his system. Collectors could therefore read the self-portrait edition as the clearest statement of authorship within the group.

Beeple also arrived with unusual art-market visibility. Christie’s sold his separate NFT, Everydays: The First 5000 Days, for approximately $69.3 million in 2021. That sale made his name familiar to collectors far beyond digital-art specialists, helping explain the attention surrounding a $100,000 physical-digital work. It does not make Regular Animals part of that NFT sale or establish a resale value for any robot.
What the juxtaposition of Musk, Picasso and the others is saying
Putting technology executives and historically dominant artists on equivalent robotic bodies compresses different kinds of cultural power into one comic image. The installation asks how algorithms, platforms, celebrity and artistic authority shape what people perceive as meaningful. Each dog’s generated picture is a literalized “worldview”: the same surrounding reality is transformed differently depending on the persona attached to the machine.

That mechanism also complicates the traditional art encounter. A painting waits for a viewer; these robots watch, process and print. Their jokes and bodily performance keep the premise from becoming a dry demonstration of surveillance or machine learning, while the expensive editions place the critique inside the art market it examines.

A future museum or gallery presentation could make the work viewable again, but a current public exhibition, resale listing or museum home is not established here. Treat listings for generic robot dogs, toys or quadruped research platforms as unrelated products unless they explicitly identify Beeple’s Regular Animals installation and its provenance.
