The best scrollwork picture frame is the one that fits your artwork’s actual visible area, suits its style, and has the construction and hanging hardware you need. “Scroll picture frame” can also mean a magnetic poster hanger, so check the format: a conventional frame surrounds the art and may protect it with glazing; a hanger grips a flexible print at its edges.
What “scrollwork” means in a picture frame
For a conventional picture frame, scrollwork refers to carved or molded ornamental details in the frame’s molding. Gilding and beaded details may accompany the scrolls. Some profiles are especially elaborate and may be described as Baroque, but not every ornate scrollwork frame is Baroque.
Retailer descriptions and product listings can help you compare styles and specifications, but the available examples do not establish an independently tested best frame. Choose by fit, finish, material, glazing, and installation needs rather than by an unsupported ranking.

How to choose a scrollwork frame
Measure the artwork and the opening
Measure the artwork, then compare those measurements with the frame’s stated image or mat opening. Do not rely on the outer dimensions or the nominal frame size alone. For example, Hobby Lobby’s Ornate Scrollwork Wood Wall Frame listing gives a 10 × 8 inch frame size and a 9.5 × 7.5 inch mat opening. Those measurements are specific to that product.
Also check the outside dimensions and molding profile width and depth. A wide, deep profile can occupy substantially more wall space than the opening suggests.

Match the profile and finish to the art
Scrollwork frames can range from restrained ornament to heavily carved, dramatic profiles. CustomPictureFrames.com describes ornate carved frames and decorative finishes for portraits, oil paintings, prints, and other formal or statement pieces. eFrame describes Baroque profiles with scrollwork, foliage motifs, and dramatic decoration. These are style descriptions, not evidence that one profile is more suitable for every artwork.
Compare the frame’s color and finish with the artwork and room. Documented options include gold, silver, black, and painted surfaces; the ready-made Hobby Lobby example is listed with a black-and-brown finish.

Check material, glazing, and hanging details
Look at the product listing for the frame material, glazing, included hardware, and supported orientation. The Hobby Lobby example is listed as MDF and glass, with two sawtooth hangers and vertical orientation. Those features belong to that listing; they are not standard specifications for all ornate frames.
Confirm that the hardware suits your planned placement and that the frame can be installed in the orientation your artwork requires. Check the seller’s return conditions before ordering, especially when the opening or finish must match a particular piece.

Choose stock or made-to-measure sizing
A ready-made frame can work when its opening matches the artwork. If the art has nonstandard dimensions, consider made-to-measure ornate framing. When a “scroll picture frame” is actually a poster hanger
Hanger Frames uses “Scroll Picture Frame” for a magnetic wooden poster hanger designed for thin, flexible paper or fabric. It grips the print along its edges rather than enclosing it in a conventional frame. The seller says the hanger does not protect the art and warns against using it for fragile, expensive, or irreplaceable pieces.
For sizing this particular hanger format, Hanger Frames says: “Measure the horizontal width of your print (the vertical length does not matter).” Its sizing advice, including allowing roughly one inch of overhang, applies to that magnetic hanger—not to conventional picture frames. For a conventional frame, match the artwork to the image or mat opening and check the outside dimensions separately.
