The best printable sticker paper depends first on your printer: Cricut’s standard paper is inkjet-only, while the cited Avery sheets are listed for both inkjet and laser printers. Then choose the finish, adhesive, sheet format, cutting method, and intended exposure. The options below are compared by documented specifications—not by print tests.

Choose by printer, finish, and adhesive
If you print with inkjet
All three named sheets are options to investigate for an inkjet workflow, but Cricut’s standard printable sticker paper is explicitly limited to inkjet. Cricut Help Center warns: “For use with inkjet printers only. Using a laser printer may damage the materials or printer.” Read Cricut’s product instructions before printing.

Do not use Cricut’s standard sticker paper in a laser printer. Avery lists both the matte repositionable 53202 and clear glossy 4397 as compatible with laser and inkjet printers. OnlineLabels also describes laser-specific material categories; confirm the exact product’s compatibility rather than assuming every sheet in a category is interchangeable.

If you need removable or clear labels
Avery 53202 is matte white with repositionable adhesive, the choice among these named products for labels you may need to move. Avery 4397 is clear, glossy, and permanent, so it better suits designs where the surface should show through and the label is intended to stay in place. Cricut’s standard paper is white and permanent.
Set up the printer to reduce smudging and feed problems
- Use the correct printer type. Confirm that the paper is made for your printer; Cricut’s standard material is inkjet-only.
- Choose a quality setting. Cricut recommends high-quality, best-quality, or photo-paper settings for brighter, crisp output. If ink smudges, lower the print quality; the printer may be applying too much ink.
- Feed one sheet at a time. Cricut suggests using the bypass tray or removing other paper before loading a sticker sheet.
- Account for older Cricut stock. Cricut says older paper with a thicker liner may need a thicker-material setting or manual feed.
These are Cricut’s setup recommendations; printer menus and feed paths vary by model. Follow your printer’s own loading guidance as well.

Match the sheet to your cutter
Cricut identifies supported Print Then Cut machine families for its paper. Avery says its sheets can be cut by hand or used with electronic cutters including Cricut, Silhouette, and Brother. Compatibility does not guarantee a particular cut setting: check the specific machine’s material settings and perform any calibration or test cut its instructions recommend.

For water bottles or outdoor labels, verify the whole system
OnlineLabels describes weatherproof inkjet materials and laser-specific options, but “weatherproof” for a substrate does not establish that every printer ink, paper, and finishing combination is waterproof or suitable for prolonged outdoor exposure. Durability depends on the full printing and finishing system and the conditions of use. For a bottle, outdoor sign, or other wet application, check the exact material’s instructions for that use and do not infer waterproof performance from the material category alone.

Which one should you choose?
- For Cricut Print Then Cut with an inkjet printer: consider Cricut Printable Sticker Paper, provided its listed machine workflow suits your setup.
- For matte white labels you may reposition: consider Avery 53202, which Avery lists for laser and inkjet printers.
- For clear glossy permanent labels: consider Avery 4397, also listed for laser and inkjet printers.
- For weather-exposed projects or laser-specific specialty stock: compare the exact OnlineLabels material and its use instructions with your printer and application.
A June 23, 2026 post in r/crafting illustrates a common combination of preferences—inkjet compatibility, waterproof use, gloss white, larger packs, and possible Cricut compatibility—but it is one person’s request, not evidence of a general market preference.
