Finished size and block layout
The quilt is 48-1/2 inches square. It uses sixteen blocks arranged in four rows: twelve Pickle Dish blocks and four Lover’s Knot blocks. Each block measures 12-1/2 inches square after piecing, including seam allowances, and finishes at 12 inches square in the quilt. Follow the pattern diagram for the blocks’ placement and rotation.
The original fabric inspiration is Lift Your Spirits by Wendy Bentley for Timeless Treasures. The pattern’s design relies on contrast in both color and fabric scale; the named collection is an inspiration, not a claim of current availability.

Make the foundation-pieced arcs
Prepare and piece the yellow-and-orange arcs
- Trace the arc foundation 24 times onto lightweight tracing paper or another foundation material.
- For each yellow-and-orange arc, use the solid yellow rectangles and orange print squares specified in the pattern. Sew through the marked foundation and fabric layers, press each piece open, and trim to the next seam allowance as you proceed.
- Complete twelve yellow-and-orange arcs.
Piece the orange-and-green arcs
- Repeat the foundation-piecing process with mottled dark orange rectangles and green print squares.
- Complete twelve orange-and-green arcs, pressing each seam open and trimming as directed by the foundation markings.
Assemble the Pickle Dish blocks
- Join the yellow-and-orange arc units to blue A pieces and red floral B pieces to make twelve corner units.
- Join the orange-and-green arcs to dark blue floral B pieces, then add the mottled dark orange corner squares.
- Connect these sections to the corner units, matching the center and marked dots along the curved seams.
- Pin the curved edges carefully—approximately every half inch, as the pattern directs—and ease the curves together without stretching them.
Each assembled Pickle Dish block measures 12-1/2 inches square including seam allowances.
