Sirve para dirigir materiales secos, como semillas. Si necesitas un cono decorativo que conserve su forma, usa una plantilla con pestaña y pégala.
Cómo hacer un embudo rápido con papel reutilizado
La Secretaría de Educación Pública de México propone en su libro Proyectos Comunitarios formar un embudo con un triángulo de papel. En la actividad “El hábitat en laberinto”, se usa para colocar semillas en una caja y observar cómo se desplazan.

Materiales
- Un triángulo de papel reutilizado, flexible y sin rasgaduras.
- Tijeras.
- Cinta adhesiva, si quieres fijar el solape.
Pasos
- Dobla una esquina del triángulo hacia el centro.
- Enrolla el papel sobre sí mismo hasta formar un cono. Ajusta el solape para que la forma no se abra.
- Recorta con tijeras el extremo más angosto para abrir la salida. Empieza con un corte pequeño y amplíalo si necesitas una abertura mayor.
- Sujeta el solape con la mano mientras lo usas o fija el borde con un trozo pequeño de cinta adhesiva.
La forma y el corte de la punta siguen la secuencia descrita por la SEP; sujetar el solape o fijarlo con cinta es una recomendación práctica. La abertura depende de cuánto recortes, así que ampliarla gradualmente ayuda a no dejarla más grande de lo necesario. Consulta la actividad en el libro escolar de la SEP. Cómo hacer un cono decorativo con plantilla
Si buscas un cono regular para una manualidad o para sostener un objeto, en lugar de enrollar un triángulo puedes recortar una plantilla curva y cerrar sus bordes. Leroy Merlin España recomienda ajustar el tamaño al objeto que se va a decorar; las medidas de su ejemplo para un cono de helado no son universales.

Pasos para montarlo
- Define el tamaño del cono según el objeto que deberá sostener.
- Dibuja una plantilla curva e incluye una pestaña en uno de sus bordes para unirlos.
- Recorta la plantilla y comprueba que, al curvarla, el cono tenga el tamaño y la forma deseados.
- Pega la pestaña para cerrar el cono.
- Si el papel es demasiado fino para sostener el objeto, pega el recorte sobre cartulina antes de montarlo.

Qué papel elegir
Para el embudo rápido basta el papel reutilizado indicado por la SEP. Para un cono decorativo, elige un papel que pueda enrollarse y que mantenga la forma; si resulta demasiado fino, refuérzalo con cartulina.

Embudo, cono y filtro de papel: no son lo mismo
Un cono de papel puede servir de embudo para dirigir material, como las semillas de la actividad escolar de la SEP. Eso no significa que sea resistente a líquidos ni que purifique agua.
Filtrar una mezcla es otra tarea: requiere papel filtro colocado dentro de un embudo. El INTEF explica que la filtración retiene partículas mayores que los poros del filtro, pero no elimina sustancias muy pequeñas que estén disueltas. Por tanto, un embudo de papel común no sustituye un filtro apropiado ni hace segura el agua. Consulta la explicación del INTEF sobre la filtración.
