Copérnica is Marset’s 2017 lighting collection by Jaume Ramírez, built as a counterweighted geometric sculpture that you can reposition to alter the lamp’s height, reach and beam direction. The range includes the Copérnica M table lamp, the Copérnica P floor lamp and the taller Copérnica P190 floor lamp. They share the circles, semicircles, tubes and bars of the design language, but they are not interchangeable: each model has its own dimensions, electrical data and, in some cases, LED and dimmer specifications.
The most complete published data is for the M table lamp: a built-in 24Vdc, 4.7W LED rated at 2700K and CRI 90, with 491 lumens from the LED source and 416 lumens from the finished luminaire. Those two lumen figures describe different stages of the light path and should not be treated as the same output.

What the Copérnica collection is
Marset presents Copérnica as a family of geometric light sculptures rather than a conventional fixed-base lamp. Its visual vocabulary is made from circles, semicircles, tubes and bars, assembled from materials with different densities. Aluminum and steel are arranged as a counterweight system, allowing the arm and light head to be moved instead of locking the lamp into one permanent pose.
That mechanism is the practical reason to choose Copérnica. A change in the arm position can alter the lamp’s height and reach, while rotating or repositioning the head changes where the beam falls. Marset describes the result this way: “This design allows one to move the lamp with great precision, providing a wide range of heights, distances, and adjustments to the beam of light to suite one’s taste.” The quotation is product copy from Marset; it is not attributed to a named spokesperson.

The collection is credited to designer Jaume Ramírez and dated to 2017. Marset identifies table and floor versions, and its documentation separately names the P190 floor-lamp variant. In a room, Copérnica therefore serves two roles: a visible sculptural object when switched off and an adjustable source of illumination when switched on.

Because the available documentation does not provide one complete, market-wide comparison sheet, do not transfer a lumen rating, wattage, dimmer detail or dimension from M to P, or from P to P190. The correct model sheet for the country where the lamp will be installed is the controlling reference.
How the counterweighted adjustment works
Move the arm to set height and reach
Copérnica’s steel and aluminum parts balance one another so the arm can be repositioned. Moving the arm changes how far the lamp projects over a table, chair or other surface and how high the light sits above it. This is useful when one room needs different arrangements at different times, such as a compact position beside a sofa and a longer reach over a work surface.

Reposition the head to aim the beam
The light head can be adjusted independently of the arm’s overall placement. Use the arm for the broad geometry of the lamp, then set the head for the direction in which you want the beam to travel. The documented design intent is precision and range, not a fixed single-purpose beam.
Check clearance before moving it
Leave enough space around the arm’s path for shelves, artwork, doors and people. A counterweighted lamp still occupies a changing volume while it is being adjusted. Move it by the intended structural parts rather than pulling the electrical cable, and stop if the movement feels obstructed. The manufacturer’s installation instructions should take precedence over any general handling advice.

Copérnica M specifications: how to read the numbers
The M table lamp has the clearest published specification set. Marset’s sheet identifies an included 24Vdc, 4.7W LED source at 2700K with a CRI of 90. It lists 491 lumens for the LED source and 416 lumens for the luminaire.
Source lumens versus luminaire lumens
491 lm source output describes the light produced by the LED itself. 416 lm luminaire output describes the light measured from the completed lamp after the diffuser, housing and optical path are taken into account. The 416-lumen figure is therefore the more useful number when estimating the light delivered by the assembled product. Do not add the two figures or advertise 491 lumens as the lamp’s finished output.

Color temperature and color rendering
At 2700K, the M is specified as a warm-white light source. CRI 90 indicates the manufacturer’s color-rendering rating for the LED. These are technical characteristics, not an independent assessment of how the lamp performs in every room or with every surface. Wall color, nearby materials, viewing distance and the lamp’s position will still affect the visual result.
Dimming
The M technical sheet lists dimming, but the available information does not establish a universal control type or a single dimming protocol for every market. Confirm whether the supplied configuration uses the control you need and whether any external dimmer, smart switch or building-control system is compatible. Do not assume that the dimmer specification for M also applies to P190.

Choosing between a table and floor version
Choose Copérnica M when the base belongs on furniture
M is the table-lamp format and is the model for which the 24Vdc, 4.7W, 2700K, CRI 90, 491-lumen source and 416-lumen luminaire figures are documented. Its counterweighted arm is suited to situations where the lamp must reach across a tabletop or remain visually integrated with a console, side table or desk. Measure the furniture surface and the clearance above it before ordering; the exact dimensions and finish should come from the current M sheet.
Choose Copérnica P when you need a standing lamp
P is the standard floor-lamp model. The US technical sheet has its own dimensions and electrical details, so it should be evaluated as a separate electrical product rather than as an enlarged M. Confirm the footprint, total height, driver or plug arrangement and local voltage before purchase.

Consider P190 only from its own sheet
P190 is identified as a taller floor-lamp variant. Its LED and dimmer specifications differ from those of P, and its larger scale can change both the visual balance of a room and the clearance needed around the arm. Request the P190 documentation for your region instead of extrapolating from P.
Materials, finish and visual placement
The documented construction combines a steel structure, base and counterweight with an aluminum diffuser on the M. The contrast between denser and lighter materials is functional as well as visual: it enables the counterweight arrangement while keeping the lamp’s geometric parts legible.

Because finish options and their availability can vary by market, verify the exact finish code on the seller’s current listing or technical sheet rather than relying on a photograph.

Lampefeber lists the Copérnica M and repeats the 2700K and 491-lumen built-in LED source figures. Its euro price is retailer-specific and similarly subject to change. A retailer listing is useful for availability, but the manufacturer’s model sheet remains the better authority for electrical and optical specifications.
Use the exact product name when searching
The practical search phrase is “Marset Copérnica M table lamp.” It distinguishes the physical product from generic searches for “Copernica lights” and helps avoid mixing the table and floor models. Check the spelling with the accent—Copérnica—when searching Marset’s own pages.

Installation and everyday use considerations
Before installation, compare the lamp’s regional technical sheet with the electrical service where it will be used. Floor models need a stable, level location and a cable route that does not become a trip hazard. Table models need a surface that can support the base without crowding the arm’s operating range.
Set the lamp with the light head aimed at the intended surface, then make small arm adjustments rather than repeatedly moving the base. Keep the diffuser and moving joints clear of objects that could catch during repositioning. If the lamp does not hold its position, the movement is unusually stiff, or the dimming response is inconsistent, stop using it and consult the seller or manufacturer rather than modifying the counterweight or wiring.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Combining model figures: M, P and P190 have separate specifications. A value from one model does not validate another.

- Assuming every dimmer works with every control system: dimming is listed, but the precise control and regional compatibility must be confirmed.
- Buying by photograph alone: finish, dimensions, plug and driver details can vary by configuration and market.
- Overstating performance: the published figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent tests of brightness, durability, energy savings or comparative superiority.
Who is Copérnica for?
Copérnica is a strong fit for someone who wants an architectural object with useful positional adjustment rather than a lamp that remains fixed. The collection makes sense when the ability to vary height, reach and beam direction matters as much as the appearance of the fixture. It is less suitable for a buyer who needs a low-cost, standardized replacement light or a product whose exact international specification must be assumed from a different model.
For a considered purchase, start with the room’s required reach and footprint, select M, P or P190, then confirm the model-specific regional sheet, electrical compatibility and live seller terms. That sequence prevents the most expensive errors: ordering the wrong scale, treating source lumens as delivered lumens, or receiving a configuration that cannot be connected or dimmed as intended.
