Together, those records establish the project location, the association with Creative Nine, and the material family. Why contoured Hoop Pine plywood is visually distinctive
Hoop Pine plywood gives an interior a continuous timber surface while retaining the dimensional logic of a sheet product. In a contoured application, the visual effect comes from the relationship between repeated panels, curved or shaped transitions, joint lines and the surrounding architecture. The material can read as a warm architectural skin rather than as isolated joinery components.
Keystone describes its Key-Ply range as a plywood panel system that can be custom cut and shaped to architectural specifications. That capability is important to a project described as contoured: the design team can work from a coordinated profile or digital cutting file instead of accepting only standard rectangular sheets. It does not, however, prove which cutting process, tooling, jig or fabrication sequence was used at Denison Gas.

A designer specifying a curved or folded appearance must still establish the actual panel thickness, allowable bend or shaping method, support spacing, edge treatment and access requirements. A thicker sheet may provide a more substantial edge and greater resistance to handling damage, while a thinner sheet may be easier to shape; the correct choice depends on the geometry, support system and applicable engineering advice.
Finish and acoustic choices: what is known and what is not
Visual finishes
Keystone lists a natural timber appearance, clear finishes and stained finishes for Key-Ply panels. The named stain options include Ebony, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Jarrah and Walnut, as well as whitewash. None of those options is confirmed as the finish used at Denison Gas. The project title alone cannot establish whether the installed panels were left natural, clear-coated, whitewashed or stained.

For a painting or finishing team, that distinction matters. A clear coating preserves the visible Hoop Pine character but can alter colour and sheen. A stain changes the perceived grain contrast and must be approved on a representative sample because the same colourant can read differently across veneers, edges and shaped sections. Whitewash can reduce visual contrast while still allowing the timber pattern to show through. These are specification decisions, not evidence about this particular office.
Acoustic formats
Keystone says Key-Ply acoustic panels can be perforated or slotted and that five standard patterns are available, with acoustic backing options. The project portfolio’s “Acoustic Plywood” tag indicates an acoustic intent or product category, but the accessible project record does not identify Denison Gas’s perforation geometry, slot width, open area, backing material, cavity depth, absorption rating or tested performance.
Consequently, the office should not be assigned a numerical reverberation-time improvement or sound-absorption result. A real acoustic specification would need the selected pattern, backing and installation build-up, followed by the relevant laboratory data or project measurements.

How Keystone describes installation options
Keystone’s product information describes several general fixing approaches. It says ceiling panels may be installed on a Key Lock Rondo system or a similar system. It also lists face fixing to furring channels, wall studs or ceiling battens. For walls, it describes split-batten hanging as an option. Express joints may have as little as 10 mm clearance according to that installation guidance.

These are alternatives in the supplier’s general guidance, not a record of the Denison Gas installation. The project sources do not say whether the panels were mechanically face-fixed, concealed on battens, suspended on a ceiling grid or attached by another method.
In a comparable project, the fixing decision should be made alongside the panel layout. Curved surfaces can amplify small alignment errors, while access panels, movement joints, sprinklers, luminaires and services may interrupt an apparently continuous pattern. The installer also needs the approved substrate, fastener schedule, edge details and tolerances before fabrication begins.
