Design Jobs on the Wall was a historical job board associated with Web Designer Wall, the web-design site. N.Design Studio lists the project as dating to 2008, and Web Designer Wall referred to it as its job board in 2009. Available records describe design-focused vacancies, some coding work, and full-time and freelance opportunities; they do not establish that the board is still operating.

What was Design Jobs on the Wall?

It was a job-board project connected with Web Designer Wall, rather than a painting or decorating service. N.Design Studio’s portfolio dates the web project to 2008, while a February 2009 Web Designer Wall article refers to it as the site’s job board. N.Design Studio’s portfolio and Web Designer Wall provide that historical context.

What kinds of work did it list?

A retrospective account describes the board as focused mainly on design jobs, with some coding opportunities. It also says listings included full-time jobs and freelance work. That description concerns the board historically; it is not evidence of a current listing inventory. WebFX’s overview of design and development job feeds discusses the board in that context.

Why was its visual design memorable?

The board also appeared as an example in a Web Designer Wall tutorial about using large background images. Aigars Silkalns described the arrangement: “For this example, I have a cork board pattern repeating in the BODY tag and a wrapper background in the center.” In other words, the page combined a repeating cork-board texture across the body with a centered wrapper image, using a suitably colored matte for the overlay. The tutorial documents a 2008-era implementation, not a recommendation that the same technique is best practice for websites today. Read the background-image tutorial.

What did it cost to post a job?

A 2008 SmashingApps roundup reported posting prices of $75 for a full-time job and $50 for a freelance job. These are historical figures reported in that roundup, not current rates; present-day pricing has not been established. SmashingApps’ 2008 roundup is the source for those amounts.

Is the job board still active?

Current operation and listing availability have not been verified. The historical references establish that Design Jobs on the Wall existed and was described as a job board, but they do not show that job seekers can search it or employers can post there now. Treat it as a historical web-design project unless you can confirm its status directly.
