Designer Jet helped Wyndham Destinations Corporate Centre move from an abstract workplace concept to a defined flooring design without limiting the architects to a standard carpet pattern. GH Commercial says its process injects dye into carpet pile, allowing a supplied drawing or newly created artwork to be reproduced on commercial carpet rolls, tiles or planks. For Wyndham, that capability became a multicoloured, meandering racetrack over charcoal, crossed by grey and white grid lines.

The speed claim is about the design-to-production path, not a measured business result. GH Commercial advertises production in as little as three weeks after final design approval, while warning that large or complex projects can take longer. No published source gives the Wyndham installation’s actual production time or proves that the carpet increased productivity or sales.
What Designer Jet delivered for the Wyndham office
Harry Poulos Architects was engaged to create a dynamic workplace for Wyndham Destinations Corporate Centre. The brief called for a distinctive, disruptive environment rather than a neutral office interior. GH Commercial’s project description says the designers considered the staff’s work styles and the intensity of the sales atmosphere when developing the concept.
The resulting floor was conceived as a racetrack. A multicoloured, meandering track runs across a charcoal field, with grey and white grid lines reinforcing the visual language. GH Commercial printed that design directly onto carpet rolls using its Designer Jet technology. The project page identifies Harry Poulos Architects as the architect and designer, Apollo Property as the builder, and Designer Jet sheets (rolls) as the flooring format.

Why the racetrack concept suited the brief
A visual response to work intensity
The racetrack motif gave the sales-driven office a visual identity tied to movement, competition and momentum. Those associations explain the design rationale described by GH Commercial; they should not be confused with evidence that the floor itself changed employee behavior.
A floor that organizes a large workplace
Unlike a small decorative rug, a printed carpet field can carry a concept across circulation routes and work zones. The charcoal base provides visual continuity, while the coloured track and grid lines create directional cues and focal points. The published description does not provide a plan showing exact departments, dimensions or installation zones, so the pattern should be understood as the project’s stated concept rather than a documented wayfinding diagram.
Custom artwork instead of a catalogue compromise
A conventional stock pattern would have required the architect to adapt the brief to an existing repeat. GH Commercial says Designer Jet can reproduce images, drawings or patterns, so the design team could develop the racetrack as an original graphic and apply it to the chosen carpet format.
How Designer Jet works
GH Commercial describes Designer Jet as a dye-injection process. Dye is injected into the carpet pile to reproduce an image, drawing or pattern. The artwork can be custom-created, developed with GH Commercial’s in-house team, or adapted from a production-ready pattern.

That workflow separates creative development from manufacturing selection. An architect may begin with a drawing or digital artwork, refine it with the supplier, approve the final design, and then specify the roll, tile or plank format suited to the building. The supplier’s description supports format flexibility, but it does not establish that every artwork, colour count or pattern scale can be produced without technical limits. Those details need confirmation during design development.
Where the speed comes from
The process can shorten the route from approved artwork to a made-to-order floor because the design is printed directly onto the carpet rather than assembled from many individually coloured stock products. In practice, speed depends on decisions being complete and technically producible.
- Define the workplace objective. Translate the brief into visual requirements: for Wyndham, a dynamic and disruptive office influenced by staff work styles and an intense sales environment.
- Develop the artwork. Create an original image, drawing or pattern, or adapt a production-ready design. Confirm the scale, colours, repeat and intended viewing distance.
- Check the carpet format. Decide whether the project needs rolls, tiles or planks. The Wyndham description identifies sheets or rolls; other projects may benefit from replaceable tiles or directional planks.
- Resolve technical details with the supplier. Request the proposed fibre, pile, backing, dimensions, performance ratings, installation method and maintenance information for the exact product.
- Approve the final design. GH Commercial’s lead-time statement starts after final design approval, so colour and layout sign-off is a procurement milestone, not an informal creative checkpoint.
- Schedule manufacture and installation. GH Commercial says carpet can be produced in as little as three weeks after approval. It also says large or complex projects may take longer, and no source states the actual Wyndham production duration.
Early approval matters more than the headline number. Late changes to artwork, colour, quantities or site conditions can restart sampling or production and erase the benefit of a short stated manufacturing window.
Available formats and a product-specific specification
GH Commercial’s project and product descriptions mention three broad formats: sheet rolls, tiles and planks. Format affects visual continuity, waste, access to the subfloor and the practicality of replacing a damaged area. The Wyndham project is described as using sheets or rolls, not tiles or planks.

The Geo Stratum figures are useful when building a technical schedule, but copying them into a Wyndham specification would overstate the evidence. A project team should obtain the current technical sheet for the exact colourway, format and backing before tender or purchase.

Designer Jet’s flexibility can make an ambitious concept feasible, but it does not remove the normal commercial-flooring checks. Ask suppliers to answer the same questions in writing so that a custom printed product can be compared with other specifications.

Planning the design so speed is realistic
Freeze the artwork before ordering
Set a named approval date for the final file, colour references, pattern orientation and quantities. Treat revisions after that date as potential programme changes. A printed floor is a manufactured graphic; changing a line or colour can affect proofs, material quantities and registration.
Coordinate pattern and room geometry
Provide the supplier with the latest floor plan, column grid, door positions and transition details. A racetrack that looks coherent in a rendered perspective can break at a partition, stair or threshold if the roll layout is not planned at the same time as the architecture.

Specify maintenance and replacement expectations
Busy sales offices may need cleaning access and a plan for local repairs. Rolls can create a continuous visual field, while modular tiles or planks may simplify replacement. The right choice depends on the building, not on the availability of a particular format.
Separate concept approval from performance approval
Approve the visual design and the technical product as two linked decisions. A compelling image does not establish fire, slip, acoustic, wear or indoor-air performance. Those requirements should be checked against the applicable project standards using the exact product documentation.
What the Wyndham case does—and does not—prove
The project demonstrates that a commercial flooring supplier can print a distinctive, architect-led graphic onto carpet rolls for an office environment. It also illustrates a procurement model in which a custom design can move to production after final approval, with the supplier advertising a minimum possible production time.

The project description presents productivity as an intended design aspiration. No named-person quotation, independent test, project statistic or verified production duration is supplied in the published material. Claims about business outcomes would therefore go beyond the evidence.
A practical decision guide for workplace teams
- Choose a custom printed approach when the floor is expected to carry a specific brand, narrative or spatial graphic that stock products cannot deliver.
- Prefer rolls when visual continuity across a broad area is the priority and the installation team can manage seams and pattern registration.
- Investigate tiles or planks when future access, local replacement or phased installation is more important than an uninterrupted field.
- Build a longer programme than the advertised minimum when the project is large, geometrically complex or still changing during construction.
- Request current technical data before comparing prices, because fibre, backing, performance ratings, minimum quantities and installation costs can vary by product.
Used this way, Designer Jet can make a demanding office design manufacturable without reducing it to a catalogue pattern. The Wyndham example is strongest as a case study in design translation and potential procurement speed; it is not evidence of a quantified commercial or productivity return.
