BrickLink Studio is free LEGO design software for Windows and macOS. Download it from the official BrickLink Studio page, choose the Windows 64-bit or Mac installer, and follow the setup prompts. The app lets you build virtual models, test their buildability, create instructions, render images and videos, and investigate the parts needed for a physical build.

BrickLink Studio is free desktop software for Windows and macOS. Download it from the official BrickLink Studio download page, not from a third-party software mirror. Select Win 64bit for a compatible Windows computer or Mac for macOS, then open the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Studio is not a mobile app. It is a virtual LEGO design program that lets you build models digitally, check whether a design can be assembled with real LEGO elements, create instructions, render images and short videos, and use BrickLink catalog information to investigate parts and costs.
Current Studio version and system requirements
At the time of research, BrickLink’s download page listed Studio version 2.26.6_1, released June 30, 2026. Software releases and requirements can change, so use the official download page as the final authority before installing.

These are the requirements shown on BrickLink’s download page, rather than independent performance testing. A computer that meets the minimum may run the application but may not provide the same experience for large models or demanding renders as a newer system.

How to install BrickLink Studio
- Open the official Studio download page.
- Check the operating-system and hardware requirements listed there.
- Choose Win 64bit on a compatible 64-bit Windows installation, or choose Mac on a supported Mac.
- When the download finishes, open the installer from your browser’s downloads list or the computer’s Downloads folder.
- Follow the Windows or macOS installation prompts. If the operating system displays a security confirmation, verify that you downloaded the installer from BrickLink’s official site before allowing it to open.
- Launch Studio and start a new model, open a saved design, import a supported LEGO Digital Designer file, or open a downloadable Gallery design.
The exact installer screens can change between Studio releases and operating-system versions. If the installer will not open, first confirm that you selected the correct platform and that your operating system is supported.
What you can do in BrickLink Studio
Build LEGO models virtually
Studio provides a virtual parts environment for creating LEGO models from scratch. You can experiment with shapes, colors, connections, and arrangements without first buying every element needed for a physical prototype. The Studio Help Center introduction also documents importing saved LEGO Digital Designer files and using images as the basis for mosaics.
Check whether a design can be built
Studio includes a buildability-testing workflow intended to help determine whether a virtual model can be constructed with real LEGO bricks. This is a useful check before ordering parts, but it is not a guarantee that a model will be structurally stable, easy to assemble, or successful in every physical situation. Treat the result as design guidance and inspect important connections yourself.
Once the digital model works, a box of LEGO Classic building bricks can help you build a first physical prototype. Choose an assortment with a broad mix of standard bricks and elements, but remember that a general-purpose box will not necessarily contain every specialized part or color in a Studio model. The exact product, price, stock, and suitability of Amazon listings vary by location and date.

Create step-by-step instructions
Instruction Maker can turn a design into step-by-step building instructions. This is useful for documenting a MOC, sharing a repeatable build sequence, or following your own design after working it out digitally.
Render images and short videos
Studio can produce photorealistic images and short videos of designs, and the official download information describes both rendering and export capabilities. Render times and visual results depend on the model and computer; the available research does not establish a particular speed or image-quality benchmark.
Review parts, availability, and costs
Studio is integrated with the BrickLink catalog. Depending on the workflow, you can inspect catalog parts, check availability, track estimated costs, use Easy Buy, and turn a finished creation into a wanted list for ordering through BrickLink. Availability is not universal: a particular part or color may be unavailable, expensive, or difficult to source even when it appears in a virtual design.
This is also the point at which a digital project can become a physical one. After reviewing the catalog and wanted list, look for an approved route to buy individual LEGO pieces, such as BrickLink’s ordering workflow or LEGO’s Pick a Brick service, where available in your region. Partner links and destination availability should be checked before purchase; Studio itself does not require you to buy parts.

Publish and collaborate through Studio Gallery
You can publish designs to Studio Gallery. Some Gallery designs can be imported into Studio when their creators enable downloads. BrickLink’s guidance says downloaded designs may be modified for personal needs, but they should not be republished without permission from the original author. Respect the designer’s instructions and licensing expectations when sharing or adapting someone else’s work.
Do you need a BrickLink account?
No account is required to run Studio for basic use. BrickLink’s overview says registered users receive additional benefits, including real-time building with friends. An account may also be relevant when publishing designs, using connected BrickLink services, or ordering parts, but it is not a prerequisite for simply installing and opening the desktop application.
Windows and macOS troubleshooting checklist
- The download does not start: return to the official download page and choose the button matching your operating system. Avoid substituting a mirror download.
- The installer says the computer is unsupported: confirm that Windows is 64-bit and Windows 10 or newer, or that the Mac runs macOS 10.13 or newer. Recheck the live requirements page because they may change.
- Installation stops or fails: make sure at least 2 GB of storage is available, close other installers, download a fresh copy from BrickLink, and retry. On a managed work or school computer, an administrator may need to approve desktop-app installation.
- Studio opens but graphics are problematic: verify that the computer meets the listed graphics requirement and that its graphics drivers and operating system are up to date. The official page currently identifies Nvidia graphics support; do not assume every graphics configuration is supported equally.
- A model or Gallery file will not open: check whether the file is a supported Studio or imported design format and whether the Gallery author has allowed downloads. A Gallery design that cannot be downloaded is not necessarily an installation problem.
- A part cannot be ordered: distinguish between a part existing in Studio’s virtual library and that exact element or color being available in the BrickLink catalog. Use the catalog and wanted-list information to substitute parts or revise the design where appropriate.
The official documentation does not establish that Studio requires a registry cleaner, malware utility, or performance-optimization product. Do not install one merely because Studio is slow or an installation fails; diagnose the operating-system, graphics, storage, and file-specific causes first.
