draw.io Desktop 28.1.2 is a historical offline-capable release for Windows, macOS, and Linux, released on August 30, 2025. Its release notes list Electron 37.2.3, a security fix in node-tmp, and draw.io core 28.1.2; the project’s releases page listed 31.7.0 as the latest release on October 7, 2026. If you need current software, check the latest release assets and notes rather than assuming 28.1.2 is current.
The project describes Desktop as isolated from the internet except for its update process, and says it does not send diagram data or application analytics externally. That does not guarantee zero network requests: opening a diagram that references remote images, backgrounds, or fonts can request those resources from their hosts.

28.1.2 downloads and package choices
The 28.1.2 release record lists these package families. Check the assets on that exact release for availability and architecture; current README guidance may not describe every historical package in precisely the same way.

How offline is Desktop?
The project says Desktop is designed to be isolated from the internet apart from checking for and downloading updates. Its JavaScript is packaged locally, and its content security policy forbids remote JavaScript. The project also says diagram data and usage analytics are not sent externally. These are the project’s documented design statements, not independent tests of this particular build.

Remote media is an important exception to a practical no-network assumption. If a diagram refers to an online image, background, or font, opening it can cause Desktop to request that resource from its host. The host may see connection metadata such as your IP address; the project says the diagram content itself is not sent to that host.
If strict isolation matters, use locally stored resources, review diagrams from untrusted sources, and apply your organization’s network controls. Consult the project README for its current explanation of isolation, updates, and external media.

FAQ
Does draw.io Desktop 28.1.2 send diagrams to a server?
The project says Desktop does not send diagram data or usage analytics externally. However, update checks use the network, and opening a diagram with remote media references can request those resources; the remote host may receive connection metadata.
Can Desktop 28.1.2 import .vsd or Gliffy files?
The project says .vsd and Gliffy imports do not work in Desktop because those functions lack a JavaScript implementation.
Can Desktop export PDFs offline?
