Dulux’s envirO₂ range is a documented low-VOC paint option for projects pursuing Green Star Buildings v1.1, but choosing it does not automatically earn a credit. Project teams need to match the exact product, colour or tint, and finish to the current credit criteria and provide evidence accepted for their project.
Which Green Star Buildings version applies?
For new registrations from 1 May 2026, Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) requires projects to use Green Star Buildings v1.1; registrations under v1 closed on 30 April 2026. The detailed credit requirements are in the v1.1 Submission Guidelines, accessible to members through Green Star Manager or available for purchase. GBCA’s FAQ says Revision A was released on 17 December 2025, superseding the v1.1 release of 21 October 2025. Check GBCA’s Green Star Buildings v1.1 page and FAQ F-00531 for current registration and revision information.
What Dulux envirO₂ evidence is available?
Dulux describes envirO₂ as a very-low-VOC, low-odour range and publishes environmental documentation, including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and third-party certifications. Its sustainability information says approvals contribute to credits under Green Star, WELL and other rating schemes. The Dulux Green Star Buildings solutions guide, dated February 2026, presents envirO₂ products and certifications in relation to Responsible Finishes. These are useful supplier documents to assess, not a GBCA ruling that a product earns a particular v1.1 credit.

Interior Low Sheen: product-specific EPD
An EPD Australasia declaration dated 6 October 2025 covers Dulux envirO₂ Interior Low Sheen, product code 59L84179, Vivid White, manufactured at Merrifield in Victoria. It reports VOC below 1 g/L and lists Global GreenTag GreenRate Level A, HealthRate Platinum Health and Declare Red List Free certifications. Those results apply to the named product and scope of that declaration; do not assume they cover every envirO₂ finish, tint or formulation. Read the EPD Australasia declaration.

How to assess a Dulux product for a v1.1 submission
- Identify the applicable credit. Use the current Green Star Buildings v1.1 Submission Guidelines for the project’s registration and confirm the criteria and evidence requirements for the relevant finishes credit.
- Specify the exact product. Record the product name, intended surface, finish, colour or tint, and any relevant product code. A declaration for one named paint is not evidence for every product in the range.
- Match documents to the specification. Check whether the EPD, certification or technical information covers the exact product and tint, and whether the documentation is current and applicable to the project.
- Confirm evidence acceptance with the project team. Assess the documentation against the credit’s requirements and the project’s submission process. Supplier guides and third-party listings can support that assessment; they do not replace a project-specific determination.
What to compare when choosing a finish
- Product and finish: Make sure the document names the finish intended for the surface; Interior Low Sheen and Ceiling Flat have separate product listings.
- Colour and tint: Check that evidence covers the specified colour or tint rather than assuming an untinted or white-product result applies universally.
- VOC figure and method: Keep the reported value tied to its named product and stated methodology. Figures from different documents should not be treated as interchangeable without checking how each was calculated.
- Document scope and currency: Review the EPD or certification’s scope and current status, then confirm it meets the applicable v1.1 criteria.
- Credit requirements: Verify that the evidence supports the specific credit being claimed, not merely that the product has an environmental label or appears in a supplier guide.
